    Pinellas Remodel, Additions & Decks
We had a huge deck in the back of our house that was literally rotting away, one in the front that was not far behind and they were tied with a third on the side so that we were wrapped on three sides of our house in decking, so this was a really big job. We decided not to replace the one on the side and to get steps to the ground instead.
Sam personally came to our home, measured and estimated. At first, we decided on another contractor (friend of the family), but that fell through. We're glad it did - going with Sam turned out so much better! Sam insisted on doing everything by the book, including permits which 'the other guy' didn't, and in the end, turned out to be less expensive too!
Sam also signed up for PayPal to make it easier on us to pay him. He really did go to great lengths to accommodate us! He asked for cost of materials up front, then we paid him the remainder in pieces as the job went on.
Unfortunately, Sam fell ill just before the job was due to start, but that didn't stop him. He sent his crew that was managed by Darcy. Darcy was also very accommodating - we decided to lay down 6 mil plastic as a weed barrier and the guys helped us with that without any complaint. The crew were just super nice and very pleasant to have around!
They demo'd, then put down big new footings that included re-bar. Once those were done, we had to wait for the city inspector. First inspection done, they proceeded with framing the deck that included Simpson Strong-Tie joist hangers. Then it had a second inspection and they proceeded with decking using hidden fasteners - it's really awesome to have deck boards without any screws in the face!! The result is two beautiful decks that feel more solid than any deck I have ever stepped on. It almost seems over engineered, it just feels like it's going to last 20 years. It's one thing to have a deck that looks good, it's quite another to have it *feel* good under your feet.
Unfortunately, a very oddly placed pipe got nicked during demolition, but the crew fixed it right away and even made it better than before.  We were not at all upset about this, no job is ever perfect - but the crew handled the situation professionally and that's what really matters. It took a bit longer than expected due to rain (we had an awful lot of rain this summer - pretty much daily), but you can't control the weather. To make up for it,  they even came on the weekends to try to move things along!
All in all, we are extremely please with the results. The hidden fasteners really make all the difference, if you're getting a deck from Sam, be sure to ask about these! It's just a little bit more, but really worth it in the end when you see the result.
Sam, thank you and your guys for a job well done - we couldn't be happier with our new deck!

    Rocco DeSimone, Ltd. Co.

He and his wife came over together on the weekend  to give us an estimate.  The estimate for the facia on the front was so low we asked if he could fix the back.  The price for both was better than we had planned.

We did a flexible date to get the work done, but due to the rains it happened the next day.  All that we wanted done was done beautifully and we are delighted.

We have a garage that needs help (ceiling & insulation) and we are planning to call them after we get our tax refund.

    Reid's Remodeling

Initially we had some issues getting the new door from the door company making it difficult for me to arrange time off from work so he could install the new door.  Reid was so nice to offer to work on weekends or whatever it took to get the job done since I waited so long.  He is really busy, which is a good sign.  He does great work.

Also, I used to have issues with water coming under the threshold when it rained a lot and I can already tell, I am no longer going to have that problem as he installed a new threshold and the door is really well made.  I love it.  He is a really nice guy too!

    The Wood Floor Doctor, LLC
I received a written estimate and a list of materials I would need to complete the project. I had purchased the laminate prior to finding installation services. The estimate and materials list required a small nonrefundable deposit towards the installation. This was totally worth the information from an expert. The project was started and completed on time and exceeded my expectations.

I understood the options and cost for each choice. I am certain that I made the best decision to use a locally owned and operated company. I would suggest anyone considering wood and/or laminate flooring get the advice and skills of a seasoned professional.

I love love love my new floors!

Working with Larissa was a great experience. She was very patient with our many questions and struggles. She didn't rush us and took the time to answer our questions and help guide us as we tried to make decisions. Work began promptly with the tear out. The first week went along very well until the County showed up and said we needed permits. All work had to come to a halt until the proper permits were pulled. Adam worked very hard to get everything done so work could resume without too much delay. We lost about a week. As soon as the permit situation was resolved it was all hands on deck to get the job done. Eric, the carpenter was absolutely wonderful. He worked so hard and did beautiful work. Even the granite people commented on how level all the cabinets were, which made it easier for them.
The kitchen and master bath was done at the same time and then the second bathroom was done a couple of weeks later.
Everything turned out better than we could have imagined. We are so glad we chose S & W for our remodeling.

We had a three week wait until the project could start. The carpenter came out and in one day installed two new doors for us-one replacing the front door and one replacing the side door. He had this done about a week before the painters could begin. They were delayed one week, but started the next week on a Tuesday. The first day they came and pressure washed all the gutters, the house and the walkways (2 of them). They then got busy taping all of the windows. This took them the whole day and when they were done we discussed the color of the house. We were a bit uncertain so we talked about it and selected the color. The painter then left and called shortly afterwards asking if we were certain about painting the garage door the same color as the house. He suggested painting it in white to stand out, which we agreed upon. Wednesday they were back out with the paint and sprayed all the trim of the house. They then proceeded to paint the main color we had chosen. At first I was uncertain, but after they had sprayed the whole house it began to take shape. That was the end of the second day. The third day they arrived and took the plastic off the windows and once they did that, the whole house just became alive. The colors were absolutely gorgeous and the garage door was wonderful with the white color! They then left and were going to wait for the carpenter to replace the wood that was rotted, and when we arrived home on Friday, that job was completed. The wood was up and it was trimmed around the garage to perfection. Around the bathroom windows there was new wood also. On Sunday, the painter had to come out and stucco around the newly installed doors as the new doors were not exactly the same size as the old doors. The following day, when we came home from work, the painter was here just finishing up and had filled in all the spots he had missed and/or needed touch ups. We did have some questions about things the estimator had talked to us about as he was no longer with the company. The owner came out (Chip) and went over everything with us and simplified everything as we had added a few things to our estimate as they were doing the job. They were so patient with us and we are so very happy with their work. We still have to find a time for Mike the carpenter to come out and install the sill and do the small area of tile work in front of our door, but there is no hurry for this. These gentleman are just that, and we thank them for everything, as well as Kristin in the office (thank you to her as well-you are great).

Frank found ways to make more space than I thought the room would handle. The first day he built the supports for the shelves and bought materials. The second day he completed the utility room and moved the wine cabinet into place. The shelf in the kitchen was also put up with the pot rack (I did not ask him to do that or to move the wine cabinet). He finished the kitchen shelf and the utility closet early the 3rd day. He is very neat, cleans up as he goes, did not leave me a mess and I truly believe that the work he does would survive any disaster.

He did a top notch job and cleaned up very well. His work was outstanding and I am so satisfied. He told me the price and stuck to it. Everything looks great and I would definitely use him again.
