Abject failure. I did not see Dr.Shaw, I saw his Physician's Assistant (PA). Nice lady, but she was in a rush to get me out to see her next patient. She appeared anxious to talk me into surgery or some other medical procedure. This was in direct contradiction to Dr. Shaw. He recommended a knee brace. When I mentioned this to his PA, she acknowledged and left the room as if frustrated. She returned and said I was done. I needed to check out at the front desk and "they" would set up an appointment to have my brace measured in 2or 3 days. Three weeks later, an email and voice mail message, no one has called. I've never seen such a disjointed and incompetent staff........long on promises, short on delivery. When I do need surgery, I will NOT be using these people. This is the sort of organization that would replace the wrong knee.

My initial appointment was okay. The doctor came in and asked some questions and advised us that my daughter would need to wear a full leg cast for a couple weeks. The cast helped of course, because she wasn't bending her knee. She is now out of the cast, but still has some pain. The nurses are very friendly and helpful, especially Sharon.

Dr. Hammerman and his team spent as much time as necessary discussing, clarifying and reassuring me regarding my treatment. Although he typically runs late with his appointments, his staff asks patients to call before coming to his office. That way patients can wait at home until the Dr. can see them.

I made an appointment with Commonwealth Orthopaedics to obtain a second opinion. I used Angie's List to help me find a reputable doctor close to home. The appointment I made was the first of the day - 0800 a.m. I was told to come in a little early to fill out paperwork. I arrived at 0755 a.m. and was told by the staff that because I had previously visited Commonwealth, all they need was for me to verify my insurance data. The staff was pleasant and courteous. I waited until 0830 when I inquired at the front desk if the doctor would be much longer. I was informed at that time the doctor was not present as he had not yet arrived. I decided I would leave as they did not know when he would arrive. I expressed my frustration about the doctor's discourtesy and notified them I would write this up on Angie's List. I then left as I wasted the better part of the morning driving an extra 20 miles out of my way to see a doctor who wasn't even there.

He is fantastic. He is really, really good. The staff is absolutely fantastic and Dr. Levy is very personable. I was at a point where I couldn't take any more cortisone, so he was very good about giving me an alternative.

My experience with the office was mixed. I did not have good experiences with the office staff for the most part but the xray technicians and my surgeon Lawrence Alexander were very good. My surgeon was very available for questions and responsive with answers as best he could. I appreciated it.

He has a dry sense of humor, but we love him. Someone else might not because they don't get him. He is often late, but he recommends calling to see where the time is. He also does surgery. He is a great surgeon. We know people that he has done knee replacement on.

The doctor is very knowledgeable, and the staff is very helpful.  But the wait time to see him is just too long.  You sit there forever.  He is so good that you kind of feel like that you have to see him and you don’t want to go elsewhere.  I was referred to this doctor by another doctor.

My visit with him went fine. The wait was absolutely horrific. They set up an appointment time at 3 o?clock and then they have you call at 1adn at 1 they ask you to call at 3. At 3 they told me to come by 4:30 and I was seen at 6 o?clock. Though I did not have to go there and wait my whole day was wasted. However, he was a fine doctor. He did what he needed to do for me.

He was very thorough and did some tests. He seemed very knowledgeable. He went through all options and suggestions for me. I was impressed with his abilities. He had a student from the university where he lectures with him. He made a lot of sense to me. I would go back to him if necessary in the future and would recommend him to others.
