    The appraisal was absurd and $7,000 less than an VA appraisal in Navy Federal in 2014. Since then a smaller house (500 square feet less sold in neighborhood. for $30,000 more than the First Federal appraisal we recieved. Most of the comps used by appraiser were in other neighborhoods or at bad locations. First Federal offered us about 40 per cent what we asked for, We rejected the offer immediately. We would never use this S&L again. Watch out for low balls on First Federal home equity offers.

    .We appreciated Karen's knowledge gained by being in the business for 17 years.  No matter how many times we asked the same questions, she always gave a caring and knowing answer.

    I am 'extremely happy' that I have contacted Continental Mortgage from Angie's List for my mortgage, even though they live in a city that is 300 miles away from mine. Today, I can confidently say that Jeff and Alejandro are great professionals, hard working, dedicated, sincere and completely trustworthy people to work with. I started researching on my mortgage with big-name banks. I was not happy with FHA's initial 1% Mortgage Insurance fee and thereafter monthly PMI (which is double of conventional PMI) for 5 years irrespective of equity in the home. Those big banks were very eager to push me towards FHA and very reluctant to offer me a conventional loan. Their reasons were 'low down payment' (though I was willing to pay 10% down) and 'lower interest rate' in FHA loan compare to conventional. When I read the reviews of Continental Mortgage in Angie's List, I thought there is no harm in giving them a call and I was prepared to listen to the same thing once more. But now I can say that was the best thing I did. I asked what they can offer in terms of FHA and conventional. Without knowing my opinion on FHA, the very first thing Jeff said "FHA would not be a good thing for you as the PMI is very high". Bingo....he gave me exact reason that I was thinking all the time and big banks didn't want to tell me. That's not the end, he offered me the interest rate on a conventional loan that the big banks were offering me on FHA. I was sold. However, I always feared about not knowing them and not being in the same city. But today I can speak with complete confidence that Jeff and Alejandro have picked up my every call, I never had to leave a voice message. And they have responded my every email most of the time within few minutes. On my request, they meticulously copied all responses to my multiple email accounts all the time. They have guided me thru every step with confidence, answered many many questions with patience till end and got me the best deal I could have had. Actual closing cost turned out to be around $700 less than their estimates. Generally it takes a long time for the lender to approve a loan if PMI is involved. I had a tight closing date. They did their best to ensure that I closed on time.  Everyone must contact Jeff and Alejandro at Continental Mortgage just to get an honest review and best deal. The Title/Closing agent (she is in my city) didn't know Continental Mortgage before my case and she couldn't believe how I could obtain such low conventional interest rate with only 10% down. She was all praise about Continental Mortgage's prompt and professional service remotely. Jeff and Alejandro responded my emails sometimes as late in the evenings and in the weekends. This is the best service one can expect from this industry.

    George, who is the owner or president of the company, apparently referred the loan to one of his brand-new brokers, who immediately dropped the ball and nearly lost the house for my clients. We found out too late to change lenders that nothing the man promised would be delivered, the loan, the rate, the terms, all were misrepresented completely. At the eleventh hour, AFTER the closing date had been delayed and delayed again due to this company's incompetence, we also find out that this lender will require flood insurance on a property which has never been required to have it in the past, and recent FEMA mapping shows it not to be in a flood zone. Long story short: DO NOT EVER USE THIS COMPANY.
