Tomoka Eye Associates - Palm Coast
I waited for ONE HOUR and Five minutes (I got there 15 minutes early) and STILL was not seen. I explained to the very young girl at the desk this was NOT an eye exam, that I needed to see the doctor because I was in pain. I waited five days to get this appointment. (in pain) MULTIPLE patients were booked at the same time as I was. Another lady had reschedule who waited longer than me. When I went up to the desk to ask why, I was told they would all be seen at the same time by multiple TECHS.....I said I was NOT here for an eye exam, I don't need to see a tech, I need the eye doctor. I finally gave up and walked out. Now I have to go to Urgent care. We have gone here for years, and were treated so poorly and unprofessional waste of time. Shame on them !

    Dr. Kostick
I called a couple of weeks before and made an appointment specifically with Dr. Kostick, whom I had located through a local health newspaper. The article indicated that new patients would see her DIRECTLY, and I specifically asked for her when I made appointment. When I was checking in as a new patient, the receptionist stated that she had some 'security questions' and proceeded to ask me verbally out loud, in front of waiting patients, SS#, mother's maiden name, etc. I stated that I was not comfortable giving answers out loud as this negated the whole idea of 'security.' I was examined by a technician for eye pressure and eye sight. She had to copy a great deal of the information I had just written onto other forms (or so she stated), so it was an additional 15 minutes. She put drops in my eyes to numb them to check pressure (this is what she stated to me). The whole procedure thus far was about 1 hour. Then she had me cover my eye and read one line on a chart, and look at a card up close. There was no comparison or double checking or measuring. Then she evidently had trouble reading the RX on my lenses. This was another 20 minutes. Another woman came in. I was told I did not need a full eye exam as I had 20-20 vision with my glasses. Then I was told to wait in a dark hallway, in a row of chairs. Patients moved along and were called in. After another half hour I was taken to an exam room. I asked the male tech there would I be seen by Dr. Kostick. He replied, no, she was on vacation. I said that is who I asked for. He replied that she was often out and the male dr. was her fill in. The tech then stated that I would be examined since I was dilated. I replied that my eyes had not been dilated. He said, "It says here that you were." I replied that I had been dilated numerous times before, and no, I was not. He shined a light in my eyes and then said, "Okay, I will go talk to her." Another 15 minutes passed. Finally I opened the door and asked the receptionist if I could reschedule as it had been over 2 hours and I did not want to wait to be dilated. Another woman (a tech or office manager) came over inquiring what the problem was. She told me to "calm down" and insisted that my eyes had been dilated because "it said so on the chart." The male tech flounced off stating, 'Okay, reschedule." No one apologized to me. So, in essence, they were rude and also lied. The woman sated that I was given 'certain drops' that needed more of a dose and that's why my eyes were not dilated. I stated that I was NEVER told that I was given dilation drops, and further, that I was told the only drops I were given were "to numb" my eyes AS PER THE PREVIOUS TECH. She also stated VERY rudely that I did not make an appointment with Dr. Kostick, but only with her office, and that if I wanted her I could wait over a month. I asked to pay and wanted to leave. She stated that since I was not seen by a doctor, there was no charge. I was very happy to hear this. I have never been treated so rudely in ANY doctor's office, ever, or so inefficiently or incompetently. To have the technicians lie outright was very disturbing, and to be treated worse than a number in a book even more so. Do NOT visit this office. Advertising is a lie; the technicians lie; it is a horrible practice.

    Schoeler, Dr. Karen L.
Received snail mail reminding me of annual visit. Spouse was also looking for eye doctor, so I told him to go to mine. When he made the appointment and went, they told him they didn't take our insurance. I was suprised because they took it the previous year. I rescheduled MY appointment with another eye doctorand then called to cancel the one set with them. They asked me why, and I told him that we were told they didn't take our insurance. She said yes, they DO take the insurance, so I kept the appointment. I called the day before to make sure as I just wasn't sure, and I didn't want to lose the appointment and have to reschedule again. They again said yes, they do take it. I asked again to double check it because of my spouse's experience, told them the network, and she put me on hold. She came back and said, oops, sorry, we DON'T take that insurance.
    REALLY???
Felt like all they wanted to do was get me in the door. My previous experience with them was good, they DID take the insurance, but whatever happened in the interim, now they don't. I didn't like that they didn't thoroughly check it when I initially called about it. Now I have to find a new eye doctor.

For Eyes Optical Co - Daytona Beach
The reading part of the lenses was so small and low, that I had to hold them up to look at anyone near me. Had to go back to Daytona several times to try to get it right, but still cannot read with them. The staff was friendly, and tried very hard to get it right, but I still have to switch out these glasses to my old reading glasses for reading or using the computer.

    Kennedy, Dr. Mark E.
Dr Kennedy performed cataract surgery on both eyes for my husband and one eye for me.  Surgeries went well and we had no problems later.  He provides excellent care and answers all questions to our understanding.  We see him semi-annually for check-ups and he was available when I needed him in-between scheduled appointments.  I am diabetic with macular degeneration and he treats my issues with great care and concern.  His staff is also professional and friendly.  We both highly recommend Dr Kennedy whether you are having your first eye exam or if you have eye problems.  He is truly outstanding at what he does.
