    The tenants of our rental property complained that the AC unit was not cooling. Our real estate agent called Farmer and Irwin to have them check it out. Without any call to us from Farmer and Irwin, in a week or so, we received a bill stating that they could find nothing wrong except for a thermostat battery in need of replacement. The bill was for $270.00! We felt that was quite a lot to pay for a battery replacement, and questioned the charges, asking them to justify such an inordinately high cost for finding nothing wrong except for battery in need of replacement.. In response, we received 2 emails. One (intimidating) email stated this: "If payment is not made by end of this month, then we will send you to collections. Please advise! Thank you, Maureen Gilbert Assistant Service Manager Farmer & Irwin Corporation T. 561.842.5316 x308 F. 561.845.2280" The other (explanatory) email stated this: "Our rates are $100.00 per hour from port to port. This was called in as A/C not cooling, we inspected all of your equipment and controls to make sure there were no further issues." We received bill (via email) on 4/5, asked for clarification on 4/9, and immediately received threat that bill would be put to "collections" if not paid beyond of the month. Farmer and Irwin are an extremely unprofessional company using intimidation to silence the questioning of inordinately high bills. I advise all stay clear of Farmer and Irwin.

    The Estimate was done efficiently and quickly. While we are not doing the ductwork job right now we did contract with Hopkins on a yearly maintenance program. Our first semi annual visit was this week and the workman was punctual and really good at explaining what he was doing. He did a thorough job and we are confident our system is in tip top shape. We would highly recommend Hopkins to handle all your air conditioning needs.

    When I called for the appt I was told they had a deal for a (prepaid) $29 service call. I had seen this but they didn't have to tell me this. I was kinda surprised. They actually fit me in the same day- another surprise- since they were going to have someone in my area. They tech showed up in the time window. He first checked out the internal unit, then asked to go on the roof (condo bldg). He discovered a coolant leak, which he filled. It was extremely windy so he couldn't readily identify the source of the leak. We appreciate that he didn't try and fix something he wasn't sure of. Same thing re our internal unit. He thought it may be corroded coils but is taking it one step at a time. He checked to make sure it would be covered by warranty but it would still cost us a significant amount in labor. Right now things are working better. I do think we will need more work on it and we won't hesitate to call Gulfstream again!

    We arrived at home at 11pm to find our air conditioner was not working. Our alarm system was acting up also so we assumed there had been a power surge/lightening strike etc. We left a message for Gulfstrem Cooling whom we had used in the past for a checkup. they were able to fix they system the very next day. Apparently, something to do with fuzes and a part that preempts the compressor. We were very pleased with the service.

    We have a 1 year old Rheem A/C that was installed by the previous owners. The electric bills were rather high and it was hard to get the house as cold as I would like. Bruce came out and did a complete inspection for $80. He found a number of problems and explained them all to me. He came back 2 days later to replace a broken valve he found and fix some other minor items. Even though the A/C was still under warranty, the installation of the replacement part cost $600 (I can't say whether this is a normal price). After running the A/C at the same settings for 2 weeks, I checked my FPL daily bill and saw that it went down from $10/day to $7/day. He recommended I add more attic insulation to get the costs down further.
    Bruce was very thorough and took time to explain everything, so I would hire him again in the future.

    I was given a window of from 2-4pm and the guy from Air Conditioning and Electric Energy arrived soon after 2pm. He followed a 19 point inspection of the system as described in the contract. He took his time and was very professional in his work. He did the service and said that he found no problems. He was not very communicative and took his time  and was very professional.

    I contacted the firm via Angie's list and provided all of the pertinent information in the message.  They replied back and told me to call them.  I do not know why...if I wanted to call them I would have just contacted the number on the listing.  I am in meetings all day and prefer electronic communication.
    When we spoke on the phone, it seems that they hadn't read my very detailed note that I sent over, and it was as if I was calling in cold even though they replied to my Angie's List message that same day.  I gave them a credit card number so they could charge me a fee to come provide an estimate (that should have been my first warning).  They told me someone would be going out that same day to take a look, and the contractor would call me when he arrived.
    Eight days later, I still had not received a follow-up response.  I sent another message via Angie's list and specifically requested that they contact me with an update via email, providing my email address in the message.
    They again responded only via Angie's List messages, and told me that they believed that the last installation was done by an unlicensed contractor, and they wouldn't be able to do the work.  They told me to call their office and talk to Scott if I had any questions.
    I called Scott from the airport as I was boarding a flight, and he told me that they immediately determined that they couldn't do part of the repairs because of permitting, and that I would need to redo the whole thing.  With frustration, I explained that was fine, and I wanted it done right.  I just needed a quote.  He said that he understood and would come back to me with a quote in the next day or two to completely redo the AC system.
    Eleven (11) days later, I followed up with them because I had not heard anything on the quote.  I again provided my email address for them to use for correspondence.  Again they responded only via Angie's list and said that they were unable to do the work.  I do not have confidence that the person writing the replies even talked to Scott or understood what he committed to me.
    My complaints are as follows:
    First, they did not honor my request for email communication despite my explicit request to use that method of communication.
    Second, on multiple occasions, they did not follow up when they said they would.  Additionally, had I not followed up with them, I believe that they NEVER would have reached back out to me.
    Third, the transfer of information between personnel was incomplete.  I had to provide the address and lock box codes multiple times, and each time I spoke with someone I had to start from scratch.
    Their work may be fantastic, when they actually show up or they actually call you back.  I wouldn't know, since apparently paying them to put in a completely new air conditioning system is too much of an inconvenience.

    They came late Friday after a long day of work. They were polite, diligent, and professional. It was not an easy job because the ac unit was in the attic but they got in there and fixed it at a great price. He went above and beyond and explained in great detail what was wrong and what they did to fix it. They are skilled in their trade I am extremely happy would use them again and would recommend them to everyone.
