Balkan Sewer and Water Main Service Inc
I asked my question and got a super fast written response, with the exact information I needed to resolve my question. Very impressive and if I lived in New York and not sunny Florida, I would definitely use them for my plumbing needs.

    Brothers' Well Drilling
Awful! I went through hours of research and narrowed getting estimates down to three companies: this being one of them. I gave my husband the phone number and asked him to schedule appointments. When he called, the woman on the phone seemed annoyed once given the location (only 20 minutes from where their company listed)...then she went on to tell them they don't make any service calls for under $4500. He explained we were just gathering estimates and she huffed and said "we don't really do that." He ended up saying "if you can't help me, just say so" and then she tried to backtrack. Rude, unpleasant, and disappointing given the great reviews on their actual service. We'll take our measly $3000 elsewhere.

    Water Guys
I was very pleased with the service of Florida's Best Water. The installation went smooth and they delivered exactly what they said they would at a very reasonable price and on time.  I would highly recommend them for anyone who has a private well and would like to get rid of their water softener as I did.

Living out in the country, we do not have access to city water/sewer.  We have a well and pump system.  Last week I came home from work to hear the pump running.  This is unusual as there is no need for the system to recharge when no one is home.  I ran out to the pump to see water shooting out of a ballooned section of pvc just above the pump.  When my spouse returned home, we replaced the pvc our selves.  It worked for two days and blew again, but this time no water was shooting out.  I decided to call a professional as there was obviously a bigger problem than we could see.  I called a neighbor to get a referral.  He gave me Tony Larsen's number.  I called him first thing in the morning and he was able to come out the same day.  He asked me a ton of questions to narrow down the problem.  He found a leaky joint very quickly and replaced a few sections of pvc as this was where air was getting into the system.  He put it all back together and tested the system over and over.  It worked for one night.  The next morning unfortunately the same thing happened.  I called Tony immediately and he was over in about 30 minutes.  He took some more pieces apart, did more tests and put it back together.  Tested and retested.  It worked for 4 days.  Unfortunately, there may be a bigger problem underground.  He was trying to go through all of the possibilities above ground first as these were the easier cheaper areas.  I do not blame Tony for the break down of the system.  There is a possibility that my pump may not be the best solution for my area as it's one from a big box store.  He did recommend getting a professional model that doesn't have any plastic pieces and is much stronger.  He understands that it can be difficult to budget a large purchase like that on the fly and is trying everything he can before we have to go that route.

    Ben and Marie's Fine Finishes
Ben Nordyke came over and gave me an estimate to do all the work I wanted done. He was very professional and did a fantastic job in all the jobs. He worked in unbearable heat and showed up when he said he was going to. His prices were very fair since I got many bids off of Angies List. When it was discovered that a lot of my wood damage was worse then we thought he got creative in repairing it to look exactly like the original. Ben was determined to do a great job for me. I also recommended him to my neighbor which he did wood repairs on a playhouse. Ben also painted a mobile home of hers as well as the playhouse. All the jobs came out looking great.  I would use Ben again for any job he would be willing to do.

    Four Towns Plumbing Inc
They are like an on call plumbing company. They are available when I call. When I had a back up on a holiday, they answered the phone and told me how to unclog it as they did not have anybody to send out. They are really prompt with scheduling. They are convenient. I would rate them highly across the board. They are very approachable people. I would use them again in the future.

Called & schedule visit. First visit: plumber said his company had experience with my homebuilder & this was a common problem usually fixed by resealing the shower drain. Charged $95 for visit & said if it continues to leak they would come out again, no charge. It continued to leak. Second visit: same plumber came and was late arriving. He removed the shower head and pipe it was attached to. He re-taped the pipe on both ends. Also said there might be a hole in floor of shower and applied sealant to area. He tried to take the faucet off to check behind the wall, but said either the screw was missing or was stripped. Leak continued. Third visit: father/owner of family business came out arriving late for our scheduled appointment. He used a two-prong stick on first floor ceiling where leak spots were and said it was "bone dry" - I explained we hadn't been using the shower, so no leaking. He tried to remove the faucet, couldn't and said he had to order that part, because if he ends up having to break it to take it off he needs a new one to replace it. This part is quite common (not a specialty) so I don't know why it would have to be ordered rather than going to a local store to get it. He ran shower for short time and now instead of the ceiling spots getting wet, water dripped from the holes he made with his stick. Plumber did not call me, I called the plumber and he said the part was not yet in. I had to call again. He said the part came in, we scheduled him to come out. Fourth visit: Owner/father came out again. He did not have the new part, explaining that a special allen wrench was included with the part and that was what he needed to take the faucet off (a plumber didn't already know this about a common part???). He took the faucet off; there was no leak behind the wall. To find the leak he would have to cut a hole in the ceiling. He said they don't do drywall repair, so I should have a drywall person cut the hole. I explained that I have to take off from work for each visit and would like him to cut the hole and find the leak today, which he did. He said the pvc pipe from the drain through the trap would need to be replaced. He said he would need to order the part. I requested a written estimate for the repair. He said he would get back with me with an estimate in 2-3 days. I have not heard from this plumber in now over 3 weeks! Overall impression: extremely unresponsive, inept (didn't seem to know some basic issues), poor customer service, not very punctual. Overall grade: D
