AFixation Remodel and Restoration LLCJosh and his crew have completed 2 jobs in our condo and we are very pleased with the work and their professionalism. The first job was installing shiplap in my living room and master bedroom. These 2 walls transformed the condo and have given me a home I love to show off. The second job was simply giving my kitchen island a facelift which has again given me pride to show off our condo. I would recommend Josh/Fixation to anyone and have plans for future projects with him.- Valerie E.

AScott Remodeling LLCPaul and his team did a great job, they arrived timely, communicated issues, and left the work area clean each evening. Obviously in this industry contractors have several jobs going at any time. Paul did a great job balancing projects and keeping us informed of what aspect would be next and who would be coming. They referred me to a shower glass door company and a granite company, both of which were excellent.- Matthew D.

ATotal Home RoofingI left messages for several roofing companies all at the same time. Within 5 minutes of the messages being sent, Total Home Roofing called. I explained what I needed. She asked when a good time would be for the estimator to come by. I said the next Friday at 3:30. At the precise stroke of 3:30 PM on that Friday, Craig showed up. We spoke for a few moments and I was immediately impressed with him. He saw the very bad condition of the roof and ascended up his ladder to investigate. After about 20 minutes he returned and walked around the perimeter of the house. Keep in mind, that after several days, no other company had yet returned a call or answered the messages. We sat down for over an hour and he explained every detail of what should be done. Years ago, I did lots of home construction and renovation, so I'm VERY familiar with the process. He was spot on with all of the information. I had a limited budget for this and was hoping it wouldn't exceed it. After deciding what color, quality shingles and other items to use, he presented what I considered a very reasonable estimate. Much less than what I expected. The information is precise, well documented and every possible issue and concern was addressed. I received additional calls as the scheduled work day approached making sure the driveway was clear for the dumpster, if electrical outlets were available etc. ...24 hours before the job started, I received a call from the dumpster company, verifying time and location. The driver could not have been nicer and more professional. He placed plywood down on my drive so the concrete wouldn't be damaged. Prior to the dumpster, the materials truck came in and placed the materials on the job site. They too were great. On the day of the job, Juan, the supervisor, showed up and surveyed the job. Next, the crew showed up with their equipment. These three guys were fantastic; polite, and efficient. Next ,another supervisor, Allen, showed up and he too was excellent and answered many more questions I had. He came by throughout the job and brought materials as they were needed. By 6 that evening, most of the bad wood was found and the house was dried in. At the end of the day they cleaned up the entire yard and did many circuits with the magnet to pick up nails. The next morning, they continued and the scope of the wood repairs left me very, concerned. Lots of damaged wood in difficult locations. The areas were on either side of the split roof and just a pain to get to. Yet, they disassembled what was needed, replaced the wood, added very tall flashing and included water deflectors to prevent future saturation during heavy rains. By 7 PM that night, they were 100% finished and gone. I was 100% thrilled with the outcome. My neighbors said over and over how the home looked like it was new and what a beautiful job it was and how hard the three guys worked and kept the place clean. The additional cost of the wood was very reasonable and considering the amount of it required and the locations, I was thrilled with that as well. Every person from Total Home Roofing has been professional, courteous and efficient. Every appointment was spot on. There have been several very heavy rains since the work was done and no leaks at all. I realize every job is different often with different outcomes, but this time it could not have gone better.- Lyle S.

ATotal Home RoofingFrom the very first meeting to the last inspection, this was an absolutely amazing experience. I did not have to do anything at all except choose the shingles that we wanted. Total Home Roofing took care of every detail from permits to final inspection. When you need to protect the largest investment in your life, you need it to be done right the first time. From removal of the old roof, replacement of the rotten boards, installation of the new BEAUTIFUL roof, all soffits and seamless gutters, as well as clean up, our home looks like a new home. The work crews were absolutely professional and worked quickly and extremely hard. Everything was cleaned up even better than the way it was before the project began. The gutter and soffit man was an artist. He fashioned the difficult corners and fittings on our home like a surgeon making a repair without leaving a scar. Every piece of soffit and fascia was covered with the precision of a custom fitted dress pattern. I cannot say enough about this amazing company. I welcome anyone wishing to examine the meticulous results is welcome to stop by and see it when we are home. I will be happy to show you the BEAUTIFUL NEW ROOF, SOFFIT AND GUTTERS.- Debbie P.

ASon Of A Carpenter IncFrank and his team did an incredible job. In fact, the two week + projected time for the projects were done in about a week and a half. Frank installed engineered wood floors in our family room and three bedrooms. The installation was done ahead of schedule, was done with great care and attention to detail. In fact, he cut the wood around a curved feature of our sunk-in family room to a perfect match. He also designed, built and installed new closet organizers for our two girls bedrooms, which our girls love and put in cabinets in our garage so we could organize our garage in a neat way with items out of sight. This is our second time using Frank and his work is consistently of high quality.- Andrew S.

DOur experience with S&W has been a prolonged nightmare. They show little remorse for huge errors, and their workers appear to be overworked to the point of constant errors on the job. From our first meeting to our unfinished punch list, there has been little care or sense of urgency about critical errors. I would however like to mention up front that our Foreman (Pete) was amazing and thoughtful, but unfortunately quit the project as it became out of control. I don’t know if he left the company as well, but I wouldn’t blame him as he is not given the resources to succeed. Pete was also never replaced, and no issues were dealt with once he left the project. I will outline most of the problems we had starting from the beginning of the project. Once we had our design consultations at the Longwood showroom, we had our meeting to go over costs and timelines. We were quoted 11 weeks to a completion. It took at least double that to even get close to substantial completion, and there are still problems to this day (1/13/21). For reference, this meeting was at the end of March of 2020. Our biggest issue with this build was that they mismeasured our kitchen from the start, and didn’t figure that out until well into the build process when they noticed the cabinets would not be able to fit as designed. Their measurement was off by OVER A FOOT. The only person that seemed to care about this was our foreman, and the cabinet installers. The management continues to just say our kitchen looks nice, but refuses to acknowledge that it is a major issue that it was not the kitchen we ordered. This mismeasurement caused our kitchen to no longer be centered on a window, and we had to completely shift cabinets around. To the credit of their craftsmen, they did a very good job with the compromises, but they were just as horrified as we were. There were also other problems with the cabinets that caused them to come out for multiple visits which I will detail below. To that end, there are still problems with the finish of the cabinets that remain to this day even though the company seems to think they are done with this project. Here is a list of other issues that happened during our build: -A wall was framed in the wrong place and I had to correct the worker as I happened to be home that day. That caused some issues with our ceiling cracking later on -They lost kitchen hardware that took about a month to re-order -When installing our appliances, they caused a gas leak that we had to live with over a holiday weekend -They damaged a countertop during that appliance install and did not tell us. The damage was so severe that the counter had to be replaced. -They scratched the floor when they repaired the gas leak, and that scratch remains as the wood floor was installed by a different company. -We had several plumbing mishaps that required numerous revisits by the plumbers -They severed a pipe for our outside water -The cover and protect process they used for our wood floor caused moisture to build up and the floor had to be replaced -They completely installed an incorrect door which took weeks of visits to repair and it remains unfinished (missing a strike plate) -We had service people and inspectors show up unannounced and unexpected -We failed an inspection as they got the county confused even after we warned them several times about our county as we live near the county line -During this process they have been very slow at communication (weeks to respond) -Some of our kitchen hardware already has coating wearing off My last email to the company was on December 8th. I received a reply about a week later that they were elevating our case to ownership, but as of today (1/13/21) it has been almost a month since, with no word from ownership. The issues with this company all seem to come from the fact that they are accepting more work than they can handle. Their workers are good craftsmen, but they were all exhausted, and were often coming to us as their 3rd job of the day. This also caused us a few late nights of construction. We felt so sorry for the workers as they were absolutely beat. The workers had a real drive to fix issues, but the company has been slow to respond to issues, and does not seem motivated in any way to compensate for delivering a kitchen that was not what we ordered. In conclusion S&W charges a premium for their services and I can even see how it could be worth the money if the workers were scheduled well, but in our case, everything fell through the cracks, and there seems to be little accountability. I cannot recommend the company at the price they charge as you will end up still having to essentially coordinate most of the project yourself, and at that point you might as well go with a company that doesn’t charge a premium price for a mediocre product.

FPicture Perfect is NOT so perfect!!! LACK of COMMUNICATION!!! 1. Adam provided us with a written estimate via email. We set up a date for the job to begin. Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control, we spoke with Adam letting him know that our closing date changed. Adam explained that since we had to change the date, they both had scheduled another job that would conflict with our new closing date (start of job). Adam explained that he was unsure as to if they started the demo, as to when they were able to come back to finish the job. We asked both Adam & his wife for Shay's number; which was NOT given to us. It was explained to Adam that the contractors doing the floors would be prepping for 10 days. On day 11, the floors get poured & NO ONE can come in to work after that, as the floors take 30 days to fully cure. As we were not exactly sure of the date they could come back to finish the job, we requested Adam to call the flooring contractor for clarification. Adam stated he would call him (that was a week ago) and call us back. We never heard back from Adam after leaving over half-a-dozen messages. 4. We were under the assumption as to NO returned phone calls & prior communication, that they were NOT going to be able to do the job. Due to the time crunch and lack of response by them we were left no choice other than to look on Angie’s List for another contractor. During this time, we STILL continued to try to reach Adam with NO response. 5. Today, we received an unpleasant call from Shay (on Adam’s phone). He stated that it was disrespectful to look for another contractor without contacting them first. We had been calling & calling with NO response! What were we supposed to do? 6. We understand that contractor's can’t keep their calendar schedule open & have to work & earn a living; but, it is very UNPROFESSIONAL for either of them to NOT call us! Also, why is it that we were NOT entitled to Shay’s number? We asked for it on three separate occasions. After all was said & NOT done, we were able to find 4 other highly qualified & reputable contractors that were $2,000 LESS than Picture Perfect!
