    PRO Referral
    I signed up for Pro Referral at the local Home Depot. They promptly sent out e-mails to various contractors in the area. One replied to me; one informed ProReferral that he wasn't available and two informed Pro Referral that they had tried to call, but were unsuccessful. These responses prompted my first contact with Pro Referral where I informed him that the two businesses had not tried to contact me, which I could verify through perusing my phone usage online. I did not receive any response. I went to the Pro Referral online site and tried to review ratings. The first time I tried, I was unable to find the actual reviews, so I used the the overall rating of the one contractor who contacted me. This rating was fairly high (4 of 5 stars with 23 reviews). Therefore I hired the contractor. The actual work of the contractor was only marginally acceptable. I went back to the ProReferral site and "poked around" some more. One of my clicks resulted in messaging the contractor who called me. He returned the next day and did some further work but was extremely antagonistic and argumentative. Later that day I received an electronic request that I enter a review on the site and I did so. No sooner had I hit enter than I received a call from the contractor asking me to change my rating; I didn't. A few hours later I received a call from ProReferral asking me to change my rating. I explained to the caller why I was not willing to change the given rating. I informed him that I had photos showing the completed work to back up my rating. The caller requested that I send those pictures to him, which I promptly did. One of those pictures showed a grab bar installation where the contractor cracked the tile and loosened it from the wall (attached below). Four days later, I received a generic response that told me to "work it out with the contractor." Pro Referral states that it guarantees the work. This appears to be an untrue statement.

    Clay Repair and Maintenance
    Good points: Proactive: he called me, he came on time. He returned my call after he was finished. He promptly came back out to redo things (though not without a lot of verbal abuse). Shower was installed correctly. Bad points: BROKE the tile where he was installing a grab bar and ended up separating the tile from the wall. Did NOT inform me of problem. After about a week, grab bar separated from tile. (see pictures 1 - 4). Charged me for two drill bits ($11 each), but complained vociferously because of the way he had installed the bars, I called him on it, and he may or may not have had to purchase new screws (~$.50 each). Claimed the sealed boxes from a reputable manufacturer did not contain the correct number of screws in the boxes. but was overheard telling his helpers they didn't need all the screws supplied. Strongly insisted that using masonry adhesive was allowable. When I was concerned about the installation he became angry and aggressive. Repeatedly stated he had "installed hundred of grab bars". Didn't clean up after himself -- left quite a mess, including the footprints shown in picture #5 and taking a rug from the closet, standing on it with muddy boots and then replacing it in the closet (didn't get a picture of that).

    I had some exterior work done this month in Lakewood (soffit and wall repair, replacing posts under a porch, replacing a few cracked tiles, more, etc....). Lloyd's did a quality job. I thought some tasks would be just a little too much for some handyman services. I also was not looking forward to managing multiple projects, so I needed a general contractor to help tell me what I needed to do and from where my problems were stemming. I worked with Larry and felt very comfortable trusting his recommendations. I had used Lloyd's in May for a roof so I knew I was in good hands.

    I can not say how happy I was that Chris and his sister repaired this problem They arrived and continued repairs until everything was done to my satisfaction. They were professional and dedicated to job completion despite 90+ degree heat and a severe thunderstorm that hit in the afternoon. I would recommend them to anyone looking for outstanding service in the local Fleming Island, Middleburg, Green Cove Springs area. Should I need repairs in the future they will be the first people I call for help. Outstanding job by outstanding people.

    Frank, the technician sent by Mr. Handyman, exceeded all our expectations. He is knowledgeable, skilled and friendly, and was very professional in answering all our questions. He also did a good job cleaning up after all the work was done. We thought the total cost was very reasonable for two and a half days worth of very high quality work. We would call Mr. Handyman again in a heartbeat.

    AQUA RESTORATION
    They came out to give me an estimate. I accepted the estimate and a week before the work was to be done I called to confirm. They were going to sub-contact it out and hadn't found a sub to do the work. Another person came out the next day and guess there was not enough profit for both companies as I heard nothing more from him. The next day another guy called me and at that point I told him I was firing Aqua Restoration because I expected them to do the work not to sub it out.

    Honesty with Advice garnered from years of experience as a general contractor. From the initial consultation with Mike Buckley of Island Paint & More, through the end of the project, and even afterwards checking in to make sure we were happy with the results he and his crew at performed. I felt like he was advising me with the care & sensibility he���d pour into his own home. Mikes guidance right from the get go was sage. Giving us the ideas and solid workmanship we wanted, while steering us clear of industry pitfalls and foolish expenses. From the roof repair we had to have quickly after the hurricane a couple years back. Then later repair & painting our exterior stucco home. And most recently restoring our home to better than new after the plumbing had failed causing multi room damage. The man takes care of you. Listening to your needs and to your budget constraints and stays by your side through the whole project. He came from a military family so he understood working with us through a deployment situation. You can get anybody to fix your home, but this guys sensibility is a throw back in time coupled with the latest knowledge.
