    GSM Builders LLC
Please be very careful hiring this company. My father signed a contract and sadly passed away before any work was started. Prior to my fathers passing, GSM was paid a $25,000 deposit. My sister and I who are the Personal Representatives of the Estate were then sued by GSM for an additional $51,000; claiming lost profits in accordance to a little known law in FL. Not only had GSM not started ANY work and were already paid $25,000, they were now suing for more. My sister and I were forced on advice of counsel to pay an additional $17,500 to resolve the lawsuit. GSM Builders had no problem basically stealing $42,500 from the children of a dead man. Prior to paying the $17,500, my sister spoke to the owner and explained the situation to which he responded that hed talk to his partners. He ultimately had his lawyer contact our lawyer to say hes going forward with the lawsuit. I strongly advise against hiring this company based on greed alone.

EJD Construction Contractors & Investment Corp.
A major home construction/renovation project is a difficult prospect. Its expensive. It requires a lot of preparation. Its stressful, but most importantly, it requires that you enter into a close and collaborative partnership with another person. Its like a marriage in that way, and I feel like Ive spent the last year or so married to Eric Scarborough of EJD Construction. There were of course frustrations, but in hindsight, Im very glad I selected him as my contractor. There were two parts to our project: 100% new construction of a detached two-car garage, and a near total gut of a 1950s ranch house (about 1,200 sq ft). Our project forced Eric to operate outside his comfort zone. He hadnt worked in our city before, and I had very exacting requirements regarding my HVAC and domestic hot water systems. Despite the unfamiliar terrain, Eric was able to get my project done on time and on budget. We decided to do some of the work ourselves (installation of kitchen cabinets and countertops), and also self-performed structural upgrades. Eric was flexible enough to work with us and never seemed to get upset about a couple of homeowners constantly on his construction site. After moving back into the house we had two minor issues that needed to be addressed. Eric made sure these were corrected promptly after I notified him. Good advice for someone embarking on a project like this: sit down with your contractor (any contractor) and go through the proposal line by line. Refer to a set of plans and make sure you understand what is and is not included in the fee. Erics bid had one or two ambiguities (my word), and when these became evident, I decided to either authorize a change order or purchase material myself rather than try to browbeat Eric into covering the gap. (See my marriage metaphor above.) There were also several smaller repairs and tasks that werent in my plans, and Eric fixed them without asking for a change order, so ultimately I think the process was fair for both of us. Most importantly, there was never a moment when I felt he was being less than honest with me. Im thrilled with my new house and garage. If I had it to do over again, I would absolutely want to work with Eric.

    ABC Roofing Corp
ABC roofing corp is horrid. I signed a contract with them on 7/21/17 and the job on my 1300 sq ft shingle roof and it is still not complete. The fascia on the right side of the building has not been replaced and painted, the hole in the upper right corner has been filled but stucco needs to be added to this side of the home and the other side. there are also drips all around the building and I keep finding pieces of debris. This house should have been completed months ago. The initial paper work was signed in mid-july. On August 25th I sent an email to Peter Marino that I will be out of the country for 2 weeks and I left a contact person for Peter to call that had signed checks. nothing was started until the first week in October and Peter said to just keep the check and pay at the end because it will only take 3 days. October 5th if failed inspection and peter apologized. It failed inspection again on October 19th. Peter has not returned my calls from Oct 14, 18th, and 19th. I also called the main number to ABC roofing and left messages. no one returned my calls, I Proactively called on 10/20 and spoke to Stephanie. I also attempted to refer business to you and had not heard a word. That email to is in this chain, I was assured on 10/20 the roof would be completed the week of 10/23. I received a call on 10/25 at 10 am stating the roof was complete. we made arrangements inspect the roof, sign paperwork, and final payment for a finished roof on 10/27. 10am on 10/27 Joe & Joe show up and the roof is no completed and there is debris around the property. Now we are in November and the roof and the job is still not complete. I have spent on what was Peter told me was a "simple 3 day job". I have taken time off work,

Gregg and his team arrived on time at 7:00am each day and continuously worked until 3:00pm.  We were very satisfied with their work.  Gregg is a straight shooter and very professional.  They are scheduled to paint our home and complete all the prep work prior to painting along with some window repairs, etc.

    Contich Construction Inc
It went VERY well. Mr Curt Contich and the rest of his team, lead by Serge, worked highly professionally, diligently, in a timely fashion, neatly, and with courtesy throughout the described rather extensive project. Everything was placed in storage so the team would have room to work, and I am still in the process of moving back my possessions and unpacking; however, it has definitely been worth the effort by all. The craftsmanship in the cabinetry, the installation of new appliances, the lighting effects and the overall attention to detail is admired, not only by me, but by family, friends and neighbors who have seen it. The result is a better functioning condominium overall. The project took a few months to complete and I had the help of a wonderful interior designer, who recommended and introduced me to Mr Contich. For that, I am grateful to her. The team members worked hard and well together. I am delighted with the results of this project, which I had dreaded. I doubt it could have been done any better.

    Simar Construction Group Inc.
Jorge Sierra owner of Simar Construction Group (CGC1512623) is
been investigated by the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, Miami-Dade County, Broward
County and City of Fort Lauderdale for (1) deceiving services, (2) using
unskilled workers, (3) workmanship issues, (4) concealing work to hide incorrect
materials and code violations, (5) not performing work and pressuring to
receive advances, (6) working without permits, (7) using unlicensed
subcontractors, and (8) lying about knowledge of certain services performed.
As my contracted GC, he only performed 15% of the work
contracted but through pressure tactics and threats to walk out took 90% of
funds from me, leaving my house inhabitable due to extreme poor workmanship and
filled with code violations which will require me to start the work over with
new contractors.  He agreed per contract
to complete the job in 6-8 weeks and he took 4 months to do only 15% of the job.  He took $45,000.
Multiple inspectors from the City of Fort Lauderdale failed
Jorge Sierra 5 inspections due items explained above.  Jorge Sierra also committed fraud by
falsifying the plumbing permit. According to the plumbing permit AA Masters
Mechanical (CFC1426169) was subcontracted by Sierra to do the work but they
have never met him nor AAA Masters ever came to my house.  It seems that Sierra was using someone else?s
license illegally and performed the job with someone who had no idea based on 4
failed plumbing inspection reports. AA Masters claims that their notarized
signature was forged so they don?t want to be responsible either.
Since my house has been inhabitable and in state of
disrepair since July 10, 2014 I can?t wait anymore and need to get a loan to hire
someone who is reputable and can finish the job. The estimates received range
from $45,000 to $55,000. Jorge Sierra and Simar took $45,000 from me only doing
15% of the job and has cost me thousands more in mortgage, insurance, etc.  He should not be licensed by any city, the
state or be in business but unfortunately still has other jobs open where he
    could do the same.

    Contempo Construction

My wife and I bought a lot on which to build our retirement dream house.  I interviewed several contractors and Juan Carlos Herrera, Contempo's owner, stood out with regard to being ready for our interview, showing us that he could do the job right, and also with his enthusiasm for taking on the job. I had some very specific requirements with regard to storm resistance and energy efficiency, and Juan Carlos, who also has a degree in architecture, worked with the architect and engineer of record to be sure that our requirements were met. Juan has experience with both standard CBS block and Insulated Concrete Foam methods of construction. We chose ICF construction.

Building an entire house is a very complicated process. I found myself grateful throughout that process that Juan Carlos knows what he is doing. His attention to details, both large and small, was comforting. He also was very responsive to my frequent emails and phone calls with questions about details and processes. He never showed impatience with my fussiness.

Juan Carlos's philosophy about building a house is that something should be  happening every day. As a result, the time from ground-breaking to CO was only 7 months. Contempo didn't promise this up-front because of uncontrollable variables with regard to both materials and labor, but Juan worked closely with his subcontractors to keep the job moving forward.

I can recommend Juan Carlos Herrera and Contempo Construction without reservation.

    Paramount Remodeling Company Inc
Provider was contacted on August 18 ('14) by phone and provided with a description of the work that was needed to be done. This was followed up with an e-mail (same day) in which photo's, drawings and confirmation of work required was provided. All that was requested was a budgetary estimate for the work for a go/no go decision (as agreed to with Levi during the telephone call).I am disappointed to note that the folks at paramount didn't even have the decency/professionalism to get back to me and let me know that they weren't interested in doing the work I needed done.

    Wolfe Construction Group
I own a very old home in Ft. Lauderdale that had been abandoned for many years, this home was in such terrible condition and it needed some major TLC. Robert of Wolfe Construction was able to recognize major defects and flaws and provide a comprehensive plan to demolish  about 50% of the home and rebuild, saving us tens of thousands of dollars. Most other contractors simply proposed "band aide" solutions. It took a true professional to devise a cost effective plan and execute it on a tight budget and short deadline. Wolfe Construction was a pleasure to work with and hires only true professional workers. I have known Robert Wolfe for years and they have done work on numerous properties of mine. I high recommend this company for any construction or remodeling services.

    AJS Construction Co

All the work was completed on time and at the agreed to prices per the proposals for each segment of the work done.  Jerry and his staff were always very careful with my personal property while they were completing the renovations. I was away for two weeks at a time on several occasions during the work period but had no qualms about trusting my property with Jerry.  In several instances, I left decisions about brands of kitchen and bathroom appliances, styles and finishes of cabinetry and paint colors up to Jerry.  I was always satisfied with the choices made on my behalf.
