HealthPoint Family & Internal Medicine - Lutz
The office on Van **** Rd is rated for walk-in service. However a call to the nurse gave information that they do not take walk-ins, but referred me to an office a few miles away. It seems their doctors are not taking new patients until June. Not exactly dedicated to serve the public. Also after describing the symptoms (light-headed), no advice for help. Bordering on rude and uncaring. Angie's List needs to update the description for this company.

Dr. Marks and/or his original partner, Dr. Wolf (who is retired) delivered my son, as well as four of my close friends' child(ren). To be blunt, he is definitely a character and in my opinion, you will either LOVE his personality ...or you will not care for it at all. Personally, I appreciated his directness and dry sense of humor. Additionally, I'm not one to be offended by sporadic use of 'colorful' language, so frankly, I found his bedside manner totally hilarious and entertaining, as well as informative. Having said that, he has been practicing for over 30 years and his level of expertise is highly regarded by long-term residents of Pinellas County -and with good reason. He is extremely knowledgable and provides the highest level of care, both for the expectant mother and her unborn child. Wait times for appointments are dismal to be honest, as the practice is extremely busy, but this is in part due to the fact that Dr.Marks takes his time with each patient and answers any and all questions you may have ...never making you feel at all rushed--this was huge for me considering so many physicians tend to be overbooked these days and try and rush everyone in and out of the exam room. Dr. Marks performed my medically necessary scheduled c-section-with Dr. Patel assisting- and both of them were absolutely phenomenal. Zero issues or complications and my surgery scar is small, barely visible and below my bikini line. Dr. Marks also performed my son's circumcision in the hospital, as well as has treated me for annual exams both pre and post-pregnancy and various birth control methods after the birth of my child. I have always been extremely satisfied with the level of care I have received from him and his practice. I would (and have) highly recommend Dr. Marks and his practice to anyone searching for an experienced and knowledgable OB-GYN. If you prefer a woman and/or if you meet with him and find that his personality clashes with your own, I would definitely recommend either Dr. Patel, Dr. Llewellyn, or Dr. Pimental from the same practice. (FYI:You will rotate through the physicians in the practice on your initial visits, so you are able to establish rapport in case someone else is on call when you go into labor.)

The treatment I've been receiving from Dr. Whelton has been going very well. In fact, it's been amazing! My pain pain level has dropped from a daily scale of a 6 (good days) to 10 (bad days), to now a 1 to 2. Was skeptical when I watched the video on Dr. Whelton's website, because it seems too simple to actually do any good. But after even the first visit, was already starting to feel relief. And after just 3 weeks of treatment, I'm now maintaining that 1 - 2 pain range (which is completely "livable" and probably the best I can expect, given the structural deficiency of a "straight" neck) without needing to go as consistently. I can now turn my head fully to the left, which was something I haven't been able to do for years! The best part is, now that I've discovered Dr. Whelton in North Tampa, I know I can always go back whenever the pain returns (IF it returns) and Dr. Whelton will set me back on a healing path. Give him a try. You'll notice positive results right away. Note: if you have health insurance, your normal PT benefits will apply for Dr. Whelton's services. So out of pocket expenses are reasonable for most people to afford. Also, take the time to go onto his website and watch the videos he posts there. This is not smoke and mirrors. It really does work!!

    Lowrey, Dr. James R.
They took x-rays of the toe.  He said there was nothing he could do for it.  Hopefully the pain would go away.  My toe was locking in the position of the bend and would stay like that.  Said my other toe next to it was starting to do the same.  Years down the road I may have to have it operated on.  I paid and left.  I just felt like it was a waste of time.  No hope to stop the terrible pain.  I then bought some aligning toe tape and it is actually helping.  It does it gradually and helps the pain.  He did what he could, I just felt like there could have been something to help with pain or prevent any more damage.

    Walton, Dr. Peter J.
Dr Walton was on time (as usual) diagnosed problem and provided a  reasonable treatment plan.  He takes his time and makes the patient feel comfortable and cared about.  Dr Walton is a rare example of what docs should be.  He takes his position seriously and is an excellent diagnostician.  He cares for the patient as a whole person, including all aspects of their needs.  Staff is knowledgeable and helpful.

The Vein and Vascular Institute of Tampa Bay
My first complaint with this office is that NO ONE that I called (I called about 6 different times & tried different extensions & left voice messages & had front desk leave notes for someone to call me with questions and to get records) ever returns phone calls! This went on for almost 3 weeks! This is a MAJOR concern if you were to have a procedure done and started having problems! I finally drove to the office and told them how unhappy I was with this and they blamed it on the phones not working! For a month? Really?! Now, the rest....My first visit with Dr Wright was very quick. He did a quick look at my legs and I pointed out an area I was concerned with. He had me schedule an ultra sound with his office a couple of weeks later. The ultrasound was easy and only took several minutes. At my follow up visit with Dr Wright, he told me that I needed to have the laser procedure done because the ultrasound showed blood pooling. He said he could do both legs, which I was surprised at, since I had no discomfort or obvious veins in that leg. I asked him "so I have the same problem I both legs?" And he hesitated and said yes. He mentioned that this problem could cause blood clots. I told him to please, yes, schedule it! He was with me during this visit for no more than 10 minutes! He recommended that I wear compression stockings....which the woman at the front desk told me would cost $50 and insurance would not cover them! I did purchase the stockings ......I didn't want to get blood clots! When I got home, I discussed this with my husband and then with one of my friends. They agreed I should get a second opinion. Since I was going up north to visit my family a couple of weeks later, I scheduled an appointment with one of the top vascular surgeons in the country, who graduated from Tufts Univ and has many awards and an impressive resume. He checked the ultrasound, the report/notes, did a thorough exam, doplar....ultrasound, etc, right I his office...very thorough. He found nothing at all wrong with my right leg and said my left leg, which was the one where you could see the vein, did have a varicose vein, but was fine also! He only suggested it might not hurt to wear knee high, not thigh high (which is what Dr Wrights staff told me I needed for $50), when I fly or will be just standing for long, extended periods. Needless to say, I cancelled the procedure with Dr Wright....!!!

    Anitha Kolli MD
My mother was admitted via ER to Oak Hill Hospital for respiratory distress. However, her PCP of many years did not have privileges at this hospital and, unfortunately, Dr. A. Kolli was assigned. Due to misinformation from the ALF an out of state relative was initially notified of my mother's emergent transfer, and she communicated with him that early morning. I called her later that day and clarified I was her HCS and local daughter and would be the primary contact. However, after that initial contact, Dr. A. Kolli remained almost inaccesible throughout what became a nightmare admission; neither I nor my family ever met her in person, and the only contacts were via telephone and at my initiation. Despite my mother's criticial state and our reluctance to leave her bedside, we were told by the nurses that she said we should go to her community office to speak with her. In addition, per the reports given to me by the nurses, she also was difficult to contact during critical times when orders were needed from her.
After marked improvement after one day in the ICU, my mother was transferred to a telemetry floor with plans for discharge, however, in the night an order for a sedative was obtained and given, and my mother was later found out of bed and confused; again no notification was given to me. Despite rounding on my mother and awareness of her confusion, no orders were given by Dr. A. Kolli to ensure her safety, such as bed siderails, a sitter, or bed alarms.  Several hours later, my mother again climbed out of bed, fell and broke her hip, due to what AHCA has already deemed inadequate care. Again, no notification was made to me, nor were acute pain medicaitons ordered by Dr. A. Kolli. The nurse later claimed she had repeatedly called for pain medication and did not receive a return call for many hours. I will add, the AHCA citations notes Dr. Kolli's denial of this. However, Dr. Anitha Kolli was aware of my mother's fall and fractured hip and gave no orders despite predictable and documented pain.
Over the course of the next week Dr. Kolli remained inaccessible and we were unable to access her for input on my mother's complicated care, nor did it appear she was even involved in any discussion with consulting physicians. Instead we were left to try and coordinate the many consulting doctors ourselves, and still never met Dr. Kolli, despite surgery and another ICU transfer. Tragically, when my mother deteriorated and faced possible ventilation, I called to Dr. Kolli's office to discuss advanced directives, something we had tried much earlier without sucess to initiate at the hospital level, and for a hospice consult, however, I was met with rude and unhelpful staff at her office who declined to allow me to speak with her. They told me she would call me back. I impressed upon them the urgency of the matter. I never received a return call and ultimately had to call to the pulmonologist to obtain the orders for advanced directives and a hospice consult. My mother was transferred later that day to hospice and died several days later. The medical examiner determined the primary cause of death to be complication of a hip fracture due to the inpatient fall. Upon leaving the hospital, my family still had never met Dr. A. Kolli and the last time we had spoken via phone was at my initiation 8 days prior.
I wouldn't let my worst enemy be placed under the "care" of this woman. I say this as a nurses of almost 40 years and as a grieiving daughter. No one deserves such abysmal disregard for human dignity.

The office was nice and clean and I can tell they are very busy but I really would caution the guy injector to get more trainings because he has no idea what he's doing. I seriously watched YouTube videos to see if where he put the injections were correct and they were not.

    Florida Hospital Pepin Heart Institute
He was excellent. I was lucky. The rescue team new exactly what to do. They took care of me right away. He did the surgery in 25 minutes. Then I went into rehab which was a pleasant experience. I remember collapsing and told them that I had an elephant on my chest. I was in intensive care for a week. I would use them again. His nurse told me that I was the first living one she had met.

    Garcia, Dr. O Roberto
I have been seeing Dr. Garcia for well over a year, having relocated to the Tampa Bay area, and having my allergies become increasingly troublesome. Under his direction, I begin immunotherapy late last summer and my symptoms have steadily decreased. Outside of some issues in January, I have for the most part been free of the nose and eye issues associated with allergies. I had been on immunotherapy for well over 10 years in S. and C. Florida previously, and never had the relief I have experienced under Dr. Garcia's care.
I experienced long wait times during early visits, but these have disappeared. My shots are provided with minimal wait times, and my visits with the doctor have had very little wait time.
As a life-long allergy sufferer, I highly recommend Dr. Garcia and his practice.
