    BRIAN LEBAKKEN MASONRY
Having been disappointed with the lack of response from another mason, we called Brian.  He was VERY responsive and came to look at our job and provided a proposal.
Remodel of our master bathroom caused the removal of one tall thin window, and glass block in another area. Part of the glass block area was replaced with a standard single-hung window.  The result was two areas that needed to be bricked in to blend with the existing wall.  We didn't want it to be very obvious that there had been work done.
Brian did a nice job of working with some brick we had left from another project, and some he had left from another project.  Photos show that blending wasn't easy. Brian showed up promptly, went about his work methodically and carefully, and was friendly and courteous.
The work is excellent.  As soon as our sprinklers add the rusty look as on the old brick, I don't think it will be possible to tell where the windows had been.

When the contractor first came to the house, the mailbox was in pretty good shape, except for the broken mortar and the top being shifted.  I went out and asked whether they needed anything; the contractor replied that he needed some power for his tools (a brick saw).  After I determined that the power outlet he had been using was working, the contractor determined that his brick saw was broken; he had not bothered to check that prior to arriving at the job site.  However, rather than bothering to return to his base to either repair the saw or get a new one, the contractor decided to just complete the job without it.  This resulted in his being unable to cut the bricks into the “keystone” shapes required to form an arch and necessitated his using an inordinate amount of cement between the bricks.  This resulted in a very unprofessional and amateurish looking finished product.  He had said he did not want to wait for the insurance check but wanted his money up front; unfortunately for us, the lady whose car hit the mailbox and whose insurance was paying for the repair, agreed to do this.  I had departed the house to complete some errands; I returned and found the job completed to the very low standard and the contractor having departed. I called the contractor and he claimed that he “stood behind his work” and “would make it right.”  However, every time we agreed on a date for him to come out and either look at or work on the mailbox he would have an excuse why he couldn’t make it.  Finally, he just stopped answering my calls.  Clearly, he knew I was moving and just wanted to wait me out. Bottom line: -  Poor preparation -  Poor execution -  No professional pride -  No professional ethics
