Ophthalmology reviews in Naples

The doctor I saw was egotistical to the extreme. I was made to wait for hours. The assistants were very pleasant. His diagnosis was exactly opposite of the diagnosis I had received from a top New York hospital. He pushed me to have surgery. When I questioned him he became very defensive and suggested that my New York doctor was not a glaucoma specialist. The fact that they own the surgery center makes me question their motives. I will get another opinion.

uggeting that we do one eye distance and one eye close.Went trough 2 eye scrappings and didn't work so suggested laser surgery. He said we can cover on insurance and would act as a lasiks also for both eyes. Dr. Collins suggested  that we do one eye distance and one eye close vision. After doing right eye we could'nt get it to focus and after many appointments over 4 months he suggested I go elsewhere for another opinion? I said don't you have other doctors that can look at this? he didn't even do the other eye. Left me worse off than when I first saw him!
Can't believe he dumped me.after 2 years of working with me.

Unfortunately, Robin the Receptionist, seemed to struggle with what I was asking for and then was very patronizing in her demeanour.  I am from the UK and so am still getting used to how insurance works and all of the various doctors and hoops that seem to be here - additionally, I don't find that my accent is so strong that it warrants the condescending attitude I encountered.
Based on the other reviews I would still consider getting my surgery done here as long as I could work with a different receptionist.

    • The surgery was performed at a surgery center.  The upper eyelids were cut in the mid section where it can't be seen when eyes are open.  The excess skin was removed and stitches were applied which remained for 12 days.  Luckily I did not get any bruising, just some redness and of course they were swollen for a while, but each day the swelling got better.  I plan on having the bags under my lower lids done in the near future.  I had a lot of questions regarding that surgery and every detail was explained to my satisfaction.  I do plan on having Dr. Michael Lewis perform the lower lid surgery.

Appointment went fine.  I had to wait about 15 minutes before I was able to see the nurse.  I was about 5 minutes late for my appointment, so maybe that was the reason for the delay.  The nurse performing the initial eye tests was very nice.  I then waited about another 10 minutes to see the doctor.  Doctor Elmquist was also very nice.  He talked to me for a few minutes explaining the condition of my eyes after completing some additional tests.

Unfortunately, contacts were probably not a good option in my case due to periodic eye dryness.   Therefore, nothing  more was done outside of providing some eye drops and updating my prescription for reading glasses.  Afterwards, I was directed to the optical department prior to checking out to review my prescription.  It looks like they had the latest equipment in order to achieve accurate measurements for eyeglass lenses. However, I passed after hearing the price, which I thought was very expensive.

I have been a patient of his for six, seven or eight years now, so it has been a while. He is an excellent doctor and his availability is very good. His office environment, the friendliness of his staff and the effectiveness of his treatment are excellent. He is a very kind person and his communication with regards to my needs is excellent. The billing and administration in his office is also fine so I have no problem with that.

While Dr. McConaghey seemed to be competent, friendly and able to answer all my questions, I was under the impression at the time I made the appointment that he was an opthalmologist, instead of an optometrist. He advised if I ever had PVD symptoms to come in immediately to be checked. I had another episode in the other eye yesterday and called for an appointment. The person answering was very grumpy, as if I was bothering her. She connected me with the scheduler who was even grumpier. I explained why I was calling and she asked if I wanted to see the doctor. Startled by the question (why else would I be calling), I said yes because that was what Dr. McConaghey advised. She made an appointment for the next day. After a few hours I decided to cancel in order to find a new eye doctor. When I called and asked for scheduling I was put on hold; I hung up after waiting 5 minutes. I called again 30 minutes later and was again put on hold before I could state the reason for calling. The next person who picked up asked and quot;what do you want to do?and quot; Really, that's what she said! I told her I wanted to cancel the appointment. She did ask, surprisingly, if I wanted to reschedule. The doctors and nurses seem friendly and helpful, it's too bad the staff, every one of them, seem to stuck in a perpetual bad day.

Dr Stingl was recommended by a friend so I made an appointment with him at Montgomery eye center.

I had no prior eye problems and was just going for an annual check up.

After the first appointment Dr Stingl's diagnosis was pre- glaucoma. He prescribed eye drops for eye pressure. He also

recommended a very expensive eye drop ($100 a month)

He  informed me that cataract surgery would help prevent  glaucoma. He also  highly recommended the RESTOR

lens and told me it would give me near, intermediate  and distant vision.

I have Medicare insurance that would cover the eye surgery however, the RESTOR lens would be an additional $2500. extra per eye. I agreed to the RESTOR lens and cost believing all the doctor recommended.

After surgery and at my two week check up I was not happy as my left eye vision was very blurry,,,

Dr Stingl assured me it would take time to come around. It did not.. .and has not.  I now have only distant vision in my left eye...I have no near and intermediate vision. I now need to wear glasses for that eye to read clearly.

Because of the failure of this surgery, I refused to let him do my right eye and went to another eye physician.

To sum up,  Dr Stingl  was late for the surgery and I was kept  waiting on the table for quite a while. He seemed rushed and I think made a last minute decision to correct my astigmism which threw off the precise measurements that were taken and needed for the RESTOR lens.

Unfortunately, I now have mono vision which has taken away my depth perception...I am still angry  that my sight has been impaired and it's also taken $2500 out of my savings PLUS I now have to buy glasses to read.

The appointment went very well, but later when I had a question, it took 6 phone calls to finally get a call back.  The doctor was not courteous and when asked my question, she was quick and could not explain because she had "Patient's" waiting.  Well, I am a patient and shouldn't have taken 6 phone calls to have the doctor return a call and then not answer a simple question.

I was very impressed with my initial visit with Dr. Thomas A. Quigley. He is incredibly professional and kind but unbelievably well organized. It's a very comfortable surrounding and everything is reassuring. The personnel are very nice and efficient. I was very impressed with the whole set up.
