    The Fix-It Chick
Tracy came on short notice on a weekend on short notice out of kindness and helped us get caught up on a series of minor and less minor household repairs. She was a wonder. I would definitely hire again.

    KING CONSTRUCTION
Mr. King did absolutely excellent work. He was always punctual, friendly, and exceptionally hardworking. He worked beautifully with my painters to ensure everything was done quickly and with nobody interrupting the other. Best of all, he was very willing to offer his opinions on other potential repair work, in my case a bit of saggy flooring. I would recommend him to anybody who needs repair work, and especially to anybody needing work done on a wooden screen porch as that is getting harder to find these days.

    The Tallahassee Handyman
When I initially contacted Mike, I had a long list of handyman projects that needed to be done around the house. When he came by, he took his time and answered all our questions. He probably stayed about an hour to go through all the things. I was impressed, so I asked him to take a look at our kitchen and see what he could do about creating a pass through and removing a dated breadbox attached to one of the cabinets and countertop. When I received his quote, it was meticulously itemized, down to the texturing of the walls. Most quotes I received were just general estimates, and no one, except for Mike, really seemed to be concerned about whether the wall was load bearing, so I knew I needed to hire Mike, and I am so glad I did. The opening is exactly what I wanted. I could not be happier.

He came for the estimate. I was so happy about getting the price so we could get started on the projects. He spoke to my husband about purchasing wood directly from my husband's employer. Never heard from him again. It would have been nice if he would have texted me to say, not interested instead of keeping me waiting with no reply.

    Handyman Matters of Tallahassee
Everything went great. Kelly Duvall was my first contact with the company. She was very helpful and set up a date and time for the estimate. That day was 11-03-2017 @ 11:00am. Tony Snyder was the handyman she said would be coming to our house to do the estimate. Mr. Snyder was on time (actually 15 minutes early). We talked for about 15 minutes and I gave him a list of the specific jobs that needed to be done. He took some photos with his smart phone, and worked up his estimate in another 15 minutes. The estimated price range I signed off on was $955.00 - $1,126.00. He said it was priced on the high side and could be lower, but everything depended on labor and materials. The job was actually started on 11-29-2017 by Tony Snyder, and 90% of the work was done by 12-05-2017. The last part of the job was staining the front porch, steps, and trim, but the weather would not cooperate. Mr. Snyder said it had to be a certain temperature to stain (think he said 60 degrees) and it could not be wet weather. It rained off and on most of the time, and the temperatures here in Tallahassee were in the teens, 20's, and 30's. It even snowed one day (first time since 1987). He was eventually able to finish the job on 02-19-2018. The final price was nearly $600.00 more than high end estimate, but we had asked him to do a couple other things after the job had started and he did the estimate based on us buying the paint and stain. The end result was a job we were very happy with. Tony kept in touch with us for the whole duration of the job especially when the weather did not cooperate. We have some more exterior jobs, and some interior ones to be done in 2018 / 2019, and Handy Man Matters is the company we will use, and will be using Tony Snyder as our go to man for the jobs.

    Nail It Carpentry
Did not hire contractor for the job. I called Claudio Escalera of Nail it Carpentry at 445-6893. He is on Angies List and has his own website of which I visited and it indicated that he does all the items needed to do our job. I sent an email to his email address of everything we needed done at nailitcarpentry@hotmail.com, before actually calling him. When I spoke to him he said his secretary checks the emails and replies back about setting up appointments. An appointment was made and he was scheduled to come to our house on 10-30-2017 @ 6:00pm to give the estimate. On 10-30-2017 Mr. Escalera came in person and on time to do the estimate. He wrote down his notes, took his measurements, and gave me his business card and said the estimate amount would be sent in an email reply. He talked to both my wife and I and made some different suggestions. We were very impressed by his knowledge of his work and he made many suggestions that we felt comfortable with. A week later on 11-06-2017, I emailed him to see if he had sent the estimate to us as it wasn't in my inbox and thought it may have been lost in transition. He replied back the next day in an email saying: Hello, I'm sorry for the delay. I will send you the estimate as soon as possible. Thank you, Claudio Escalera Nail It Carpentry LLC. Two week....three weeks....five weeks went by and I never got a reply email of the estimate. Today is Monday, 12-24-2017 and it has been 8 weeks since Mr. Escalera was at our house writing up his notes to send us his estimate. Because of his knowledge and suggestions of things to do, we probably would have accepted his price regardless of what it was as we really liked him on that day he came to our house and really felt comfortable. If he didn't want to do the job after all, as a business man he should have indicated so in an email or phone call to us. The company we went with (on Angie's list as well) gave us an estimate on the same day they visited our home to review what we wanted done.

    Capitol Restoration
On 10-05-2017 I called Jeff Johnson of Capitol Restoration @ 850-590-6276 and left a message on his answering machine with phone number of what I needed done and that I needed an estimate as well. He returned the call to my answering machine to call him back once. We played telephone tag, the last being 10/9 & 10/11. Called again on 10-12-2017 and left message of us being on vacation 10/16 10/20 but not going out of town until 10/18 and for him to call to make an appointment as to when he can come and do an estimate. Called his number again on Saturday, 10/14 and left a detailed message and mentioned I tried to send him a message on his Angies List account to no avail. Asked him to call if he was still interested and if I dont hear from him then Ill assume he is not interested anymore. As of 10-26-2017 he never called, and as well as the date I'm leaving this entry (11-18-2017) he has never called back. I don't understand why people advertise their business on sites like Angie's List and don't follow through on possible jobs.

    Tracy Roberts Handyman Service LLC
On 10-05-2017 I called Tracy Roberts @ 850-573-0492 and then at his suggestion go to his website; [*** Link removed ***] and entered my name and address and the work I needed to have done. I did so but never got confirmation that the email within the website went through. I got his name from Angies List listing him as a preferred Handyman. As of 10-11-2017 he had not called back or sent an email reply. Resent an email on his website again on 10-12-2017. He seems to have a problem with his website as hitting the submit button for comments with my information did not work, and I got no successful reply. Telephoned him on 10-12-2017 and he pulled up the emails on his computer and said he got the email even though it gives me no confirmation and I told him so. At any rate he was scheduled to come to our house on Saturday, 10-14-2017 @ 10:00am to give his estimate, but said he would call prior to 10:00 in case he is running late. No show / No call. I called him at 10:30am that Saturday and he answered the phone. I told him who I was and that he is now 30 minutes late and that he said he would call if he was running late. He gave me a story about his blood pressure being high and not feeling well. I said well thats why you were supposed to call me as I have other things to do today as well. He then said, I guess I need to call all the other customers to tell them Im not coming today. He said he could come by the next day (Sunday), and I said no that I would call him on Monday. I decided on Monday, 10-16-2017 not to call him back unless I couldn't find anyone else to do the job. Not being responsible to even show up on time and in this case not at all or call ahead usually means taking for ever to finish the job. He did call back on Monday, 10-16-2017 and said he would be in the area to do estimates and to call him back, but I didnt. He has a wonderful website listing everything he does, licensed and insured information, etc.. Angie's list has over 100 reviews, most of them good and this was why I sought him out. Maybe he was just having a bad day, but if you can't follow through on the estimate, or call ahead of time to cancel and reschedule then it's not saying much about you or your business.
