General Contracting reviews in Miami Beach

    Matt Construction
Needed a handyman that could finish many projects. He provided an estimate and got to work as soon as possible. 3 Light fixtures, 3 plumbing fixtures, many drywall repairs and finish work also installing doors/hardware and paint house. Did a great job and didnt make a terrible mess. Impeccable work and finished on schedule! I liked that he was licensed and professional. A real pro with a lot of experience.

I tried giving Matt a chance despite the negative reviews of his lack of responsiveness. He came to give us an estimate then disappeared. We wanted to do the work as soon as possible and asked to move forward. Matt does not answer his phone or return phone calls or emails. At bare minimum, in an effort to be professional, he could at least return a call and say he is too busy for more jobs; or whatever the case is. This guy comes across professional at first interaction and apparently it's down hill from there.

The renovation went as planned. There were a few unexpected repairs we didn't anticipate but everything was handled in a timely fashion. I choose all the finishes and Mr. David guided me thru what i needed to buy and when.

    Scott Hatfield Handyman Services
Exceptional. I was impressed by the professionalism and craftsmanship of all the guys. They all had high expectations of their work, which translated into quality in the final product. I got super lucky in that they were able to start right away on my project. As they were finishing the bulk of my list, I added some additional things to be done - because the quality of the work was a great deal for what Scott charges. Having seen the quality of the work, I would waiti for them if I had to. They are fair better and more reliable than any other group I have used in the past. I really can't say enough good things about them. I'm so pleased to have found them and will be using them in the future for any big or small project I have.

The final job was only acceptable after multiple changes and problems that would not have been corrected, had I not pointed them out. I am being "kind" with my rating. William will say he will work with you, but the work standards of his crew were so lacking, that constant supervision was required. Lack of communication with his workers OR complete disregard or lack of understanding of quality standards. If you own a low end rental property, then hire them. If you have a half million dollar condo like mine, then don't expect them to adhere to good standards. Here is a laundry list of problems: 1.) Worker cuts wooden baseboards without mitre joints. Consulted with William. He agrees and worker replaces next day with proper joints. 2.) Bevel needed at junction of baseboard and Italian aluminum door frame (e.g. costly). Instead of removing baseboard, worker uses a cutting tool. Worker puts two scratches in aluminum frame and bevel needs smoothing out. 3.) Pass counter between sink area and shower not level. Top was torn off and replaced with level surface. Quality of metal framing around tile shows small gash and scratches (seemingly sanded where several joints connect but I accepted). The rough cut hand cut edge of the top tile is positioned on the outer visible end instead of the manufacturer's cut. 4.) Original grout line on floor against the shower is got larger as it approached the spot where you enter the shower. Different workers remove row of tile and replace, but don't use a spacer (or the same one from previous worker) and the grout line between the next set of tiles is noticeably narrower. Less noticeable when darker grout was used. (See #5.) 5.) Grout color did not seem to be even color throughout. This was mostly (?) alleviated when they did touchup work. 6.) Shower head was not flush with ceiling. 7.) Requested they remove all hardware (all chrome: shelf, light fixtures, towel racks, etc.) before painting. They did not remove, they missed paint spots (only primer) and got paint around base of above objects. I removed them myself, worker cleaned them and painted properly. Still left undone: light fixtures with some old color paint showing around the top side and paint on base. 8.) Rebuilt wall at pass counter was uneven and covered half of the marble edging in sink area. After they tried to correct as best as possible, they had scratched the marble. Got discount to hire another company to sand. 9.) When they removed my Poggen Pohl kick board for the sink area, it was too damaged to replace. When I found out that a replacement board from Poggen Pohl would cost $290, I agreed to let them replace with a regular board. After explaining the dimension height I needed for the kick board, the worker just put the same baseboard as used elsewhere, which was too short and not plastic coated. They replaced it. 10.) Discovered shower head knobs were not correct: All three had arrows for hot and cold but only the middle one was a temperature nob. Turns out it was the manufacturer's fault in what they shipped, but again it would have been nice if this would have been corrected without me having to point it out first. 11.) Design flaw: Shower step over wall did not go flush with edge of wall on the shower hardware side. This is due to the fact they built the pass over counter too wide and the corresponding wall also covered most of the spacer for the cabinetry. By the time the short shower pass over wall met the shower side wall, it stuck out and was only acceptable because the baseboard there made it look flush. The interior dimensions of the shower were even.

It was incredible! Our first meeting was over the telephone. There were a few ideas I wanted share about the overall look and size of the bed. A queen size bed made of colorful distressed wood with a large head board.

At our next meeting, Terry had renderings prepared from the few thoughts I shared over the phone. I was amazed at how he captured my imagination. It was perfect! We kept in touch throughout the construction.

When he delivered my bed, I could not wait for him to unwrap it from its packing blankets. It was breathtaking! There was such a precise attention to detail. Just dreamy!

I am grateful to have a one-of-a-kind bed. A piece of furniture that expresses my own unique style. Completely built to suit!

    Thank you, REclUSE!!!!!!

I was referred to Matt by a friend who is an Angieslist member. Matt answered the phone and scheduled the estimate with me for that week. He showed up on time, as promised, which is very rare in Miami. I hired Matt to remodel my two bathrooms, replace windows and install a new central A/C. It was a large and difficult project but I felt Matt would be the contractor that could handle the job. He did everything he promised and he did not disappoint me. I am very glad I hired him and his crew and will definitely do so again in the future. If you need any home remodeling, contact this guy, he will not disappoint you. I am very happy with the outcome and love my bathrooms now!

    Ecclectic Carpentry Inc
Price was labor and materials. I had to supply everything from motor oil to saws for their equipment. It was something new everyday to purchase or equipment I had to pay for them to rent as they did not have proper equipment.. Project that was suppossed to take 2 weeks ended up 6 weeks. Many times no show or no phone call and they didn't answer their phone. They took equipment from my property when I wasn't there and when they weren't working there to do a project for another customer. It was eventually returned after I complained several times. I paid everything on time but it was always something and in the end it took a lot of aggravation to get things done and it still wasn't completed to what we had discussed, but I had family coming and needed them out of there. The clean up was very poor and I ended up picking up cement for 2 weeks all over the place. If you use them do not pay by the hour but by the job and get it all in writing. My big mistake I did not do that.

He cleaned our house prior to move in did some preliminary repairs etc.

Part of 3 days with a long punch list that ranged from power washing, plumbing,
Electrical, hanging large art work to installing surround sound systems.
His work is excellent, his prices fair and he exceeded my expectations.

    Winter Woodworks
We bought a really nice bedroom set from West Elm (the Stria bed) and it came with very cheaply made slats that even the store employees warned us would be problematic. Within 2 weeks the slats were falling out of place and thru the hole in the frame and subsequently, so were we (as a matter of fact my wife was so afraid of falling thru the bed that she became quite practiced at the art of sleeping and not moving an inch. After contemplating what to do I began to search for a carpenter on Angies list.
Mark came up and I read his reviews and looked at his designs and then spoke to him on the phone.
Mark took the time to understand our issue and come up with a way to handle it. He had me take measurements and pics, which I shared with him over email and phone. We communicated back and forth for a day or 2 and then he commenced work completing the job in 1 day and delivering it the next day.
Working with Mark was an absolute pleasure. Though I did not get to hire him to do something very warm and craftsman-like for me he still took the time and care necessary to totally solve our problem.
I will be hiring Mark again in the future for more projects that actually better suit his skill set (and that we could display to others). Rest assured, if you are looking for a true craftsman to make your wood dreams a reality, you need look no further than Mark Anthony and Winter Woodworking of Coconut Grove.
