CBurke Home Improvement and RepairsOn 01/23/20 a worker came to my door and sold me on re-coating my driveway with asphalt and in his sales pitch stated that they'd be rolling the asphalt out with a roller. When they came to do the work the next day they did not have a roller which is used to pack the asphalt in place and said they would be using a vibrating power packer to pack the asphalt. I was not ok with this and told them "no thank you". They then left and returned and after further discussion I agreed to pay an additional $300 for them to rent a roller so that they could perform the job to my satisfaction. When completed, Shaun Burke said he would come back to seal the driveway. On Jan 25th I inquired about sealing and was told that 30 day cure time is required for asphalt to cure before sealing. I phoned Mr Burke on Sunday 02/23/20 and he said he'd be by on Monday 02/24/20. He did not show nor call to say he wouldn't be. When I inquired he became rude in his text responses when I told him I would expect him on Tuesday to seal the driveway and he stated that I could eat the sealing agreement, stating further that sealing was not in the contract even though we never had a written contract and the whole deal was sealed with a handshake. I guess handshakes aren't as valuable as they once were when a handshake was a man's word. Mr Burke then stopped communicating with me when a friend stepped in on my behalf. Mr Burke told my friend he would be by to seal by end of week, March 7th. Again a no show, no call. He then said Monday (9th) or Tues (10th) after returning my friends call to find out what happened and why he no show.. Again NO show while the driveway crumbles due to inferior material being heavily rained upon. The quality of the work (leftover material spread out at the foot of the driveway) which made the street higher than the driveway which does not allow for water to flow into the street off of the driveway. The material is sub standard as well as rocks are showing on the surface. Rocks that are popping out creating holes when it rains. In my opinion sealing would be part of the job to prevent this from happening. He finally came to seal but did not do a thorough job. I called but my calls went unanswered. In order for me to protect my investment from further damage I wound up having to apply 2 coats of sealer to "close" the surface of the exposed aggregate.- Mario M.

FAA Blacktop Paving & Maintenance LLCIt went badly. A mile or so from my home this company was paving a driveway. I stopped and told them I wanted a quote for driveway work on Friday October 4th. They "foreman" come to our home, gave me a quote of $2300 and told me they could start later that day. Within a few hours of the work being started, the digging of the footprint of the driveway with a Bobcat, the "foreman" advised me that the ground was too soft and they would need to put in more asphalt millings they they had figured on. I told them I would pay for the two more truckloads. Two days later, when the first truck arrived with the material, the same young man told me that, instead of getting six truckloads, the original four plus the two more that I agreed to pay for, there would only be four trucks total since two of those trucks were "much bigger trucks". The material delivered and put onto the driveway is the color of - dirt. It had all kinds of trash mixed in with it, pieces of tires, plastic, metal chunks, etc.. The workers picked much of it out and took it away as my neighbor watched them, but I later picked out a bunch of it. The paving machine burners never did work right. They were replaced on the last of five days of work after the work was essentially completed. Meanwhile, across the street a few hundred feet a quarter mile long driveway using asphalt millings was being put in by a company which had given me a quote of $2450 but never mentioned whether they were going to use a paving machine. Bottom line, when moistened, I can push my finger into the driveway. The whole driveway is two inches BELOW the grade of the rest of the yard. When it rains, I will have a pond/mud hole. It will, no doubt, cost me thousands to make right. To add insult to injury, the boss, after being handed the check on October ninth, told me that all the equipment (two rollers, paving machine, Bobcat, two large flatbed trailers) parked on my lawn would be removed the next morning. When the three workers showed up the next morning they advised me that the larger of the two trailers would be left in my yard because the boss was the only one who could tow it and he had gone to Atlanta for a few days! I said "I don't want it here". They shrugged their shoulders and said "well, we have to leave it'. Despite promises from Friday onward that it would be removed Saturday, it was not. I emailed them that I would have it towed away Sunday. I received an email from the boss telling me he would come get it Sunday. About 5 pm Sunday he emailed me that he had woke up with a cold Sunday and "would see me Monday". No word or sign of them by 11 am Monday. Not until I advised them Monday the 14th that I would have it towed away at noon did they bother to come and get it fifteen minutes before the deadline. Stay away from this company and any others connected to it. Go to the Florida state web site for corporations (www.sunbiz.org), search for the company name, then search for same "registered agent" who is the actual owner. You will see other businesses they own. If they do business this way with the paving company, chances are they do business this way with the other companies they own.- Dave L.

FThe inside portion of the kitchen was fine. But when it came to the expansion of the tin roof, without saying a whole lot, it cost us $7,000 dollars to have the tin roof fixed. The screen in porch was also not constructed properly. Every time it rained it flooded the porch where would could not use it, during the rain. The door closure came off in no time. Now it is costing us $6,800 dollars to get the screened in porch done properly.
