    First problem was when I called to schedule the appointment they answered and redirected me promptly but I only got a live person once in 7 phone calls at different times over 7 days. I left messages that were not returned within 24 hours, and when answered I was told the earliest I could be seen was 3 weeks out. I still wanted a second opinion so I went ahead and waited the 3 weeks and went in. The facility is massive and impressive upon arrival. Once the elevator door opened I felt like I was in the emergency room of an understaffed hospital. The receptionist was pleasant considering the controlled chaos. Once called my evaluation consisted of a single measurement scanned on an older model machine. With that single sample the doctor I saw determined I needed ICL surgery in both eyes. When I asked if I would need Lasik to correct my astigmatism after the ICLs were implanted he very confidently stated "not likely". He also stated that they would need to be done one at a time because no responsible practice would do otherwise. I took his word at face value and waited for the surgical consult to discuss price. They wanted TRIPLE what I had already been quoted by another (much more experienced surgeon) less than a month before the evaluation at Rand. Come to find out it may be strongly related to the fact that they rarely if ever perform this procedure, and that last one they had done was over a year prior. Not only could both eyes be done on the same day, but it costs nowhere NEAR that much to do safely, soundly and correctly. I'm sure the are still in business because they do certain repetitive things very well, but for my specific experience they were not even in the same league as the provider I ultimately chose who provided what was a far superior product with an almost white glove quality experience and follow up.

    I started out as about a -10 correction. The doctors were very nice. They were reasonable and informative with expectations. They told me that I might still need glasses after the surgery. Three months after the surgery I was 30/20 in one eye and 40/20 in the other which meant I could drive without glasses or contacts!  Then at my one year visit I was 20/20 in both eyes! 
    On another note, my mom was having issues with her eyes, so I had her call them.  They were very kind to her and very helpful even though they knew she would not be a customer since she lives in Kansas.

    The entire experience from beginning to end was first-rate, and I could not be happier with the expereince and the results.
    The office staff performed the necessary scheduling and testing services promptly, courteously and professionally.
    Dr. Epstein did a thorough examination and explained all the options patiently (no pun intended) and thoroughly. He answered all my questions in a very nice way regardless of the fact that he had probably answered the same questions repeatedly in the many years he has been doing this work. He always conducted himself in a friendly but professional manner.
    But the bottom line in all health care has to be the results, and they are spectacular. My vision has improved dramatically, and the aesthetic aspect is very nice. An awful lot can go wrong with this kind of surgery, but choosing the right doctor makes all the difference. The medical students who train with Dr. Epstein are very fortunate as are his patients. I have recommended him to several other people considering this surgery and am confident they will be just as satisfied as i am if they choose to become his patients.

    This is a rave review.  I can only speak from my own experience, but I cannot say enough positive things about this wonderful medical facility.  From the first to the final contact, the staff was warm, caring and helpful.  Everyone, including Dr. Rand, seemed dedicated to giving the best professional service possible, with no loss of a personal touch.  The diagnostic equipment is impressive, as are the doctors and technicians who use them.  I have always heard that it is best to have surgery done by a doctor who has done many of the same surgeries.  Dr. Rand has done tens of thousands and his experience is obvious. Incidentially, so sure are they that everything is done right that they give you a dvd of your surgery.  My results were better than I could have ever imagined.  I can see things I did not even know I was missing.  I have nothing but praise for Rand Eye Institute!

    I get an astonishingly thorough examination from, usually, three specialists. Waiting area is comfortable and all staff is super friendly. My wife had a painful problem that was misdiagnosed twice before she came to the institute. They truly saved her eyesight.
