I have been going to various specialists at the Mayo Clinic, Jacksonville since moving here at the end of March 2015.  So far, so
good.  The results from the course of treatment ordered by the hematologist have exceeded my expectations.
As yet I have limited experience with the billing department.  I have taken the opportunity to consult with the finance office staff located in the Davis Building and they have been pleasant and responsive.
I am disappointed that I am not able to use the Mayo Clinic for primary care because they are not accepting new Medicare patients.

After seeing Gen for several months, my hands were greatly improved and I stopped seeing her for awhile. During this time I was doing a lot of painting on my condo and fixing it up. I had a symptom flare up of severe weakness in both hands (especially my right).
I have gone back to see her and today's appointment, I was finally able to allow Gen to go very deep with the massage. (Gen's philosophy is to "confront the pain". She uses her technique called "Generosa pain point pressure therapy" and this is what I experienced today). Before today, I was not getting on the computer due to weakness and now here I am typing away without problem. Before today, I was barely able to grip a bag or the steering wheel of the car -- my regular tasks were a struggle and exhausting and after just one visit, my arms and hands are moving fluidly and naturally without pain and weakness. This is how effective her massage is. The massage was painful as she pin pointed the  painful areas and worked to release them? I breathed through it and the pain broke up and released which brought a relaxed feeling. There was inflammation in there, I didn't even know about and this was what was causing the symptoms. Gen continued to work this way on both arms and I could feel new life coming back to them in terms of circulation and strength. This is an immense relief to me to have my hand function back. I should also mention that I am a registered nurse and did not want to have surgery due to the side effects of the drugs as well as the problems this causes to the body long term? there are so many stories of people needing another surgery/medicines and another -- this is not attractive to me at all. Gen embraces a natural philosophy of: the body can heal itself if given the proper conditions/treatment and i am in full agreement with this. She has a great spirit and sense of humor and is also wise in her understanding of the body and it's capacity to heal. She *lives* her philosophy and this is evident in her manner and her principles of healthy living. My only regret is that I did not find her sooner -- she is and will remain an integral part of my health plan and wellness -- She has given back my quality of life which is a gift beyond measure! Thank you so much Gen! Go seen Gen today?.you will be blessed with good health, quality of life and increased well being (and the best part is there are only good benefits and no long term side effects). You can't beat this. May all enjoy the day and be well.

He is very clear on whatever he wants to do, what the plan, the treatment, whatever is going to happen. He is the one who takes care of you. He goes over your chart and what route he will be taking, I respect whatever it is. He is very flexible for working with appointments and stuff like that.

I'm very satisfied with Dr. Luis Gutierrez. He had left our group that I was originally with and when he left I searched him out to find out where he went that's how totally satisfied I am with him. I've been with him for a good 15 years. He's the only one I see, I think there is another doctor there but I don't know anything about them. He remembers things that you told him. I just like his general attitude. He's very caring and he's not quick to write prescriptions or providing medications that you really don't need just to satisfy you because something's bothering you. I would give them a high grade.

Everything seemed really well. The appointments were really rushed. There wasn't much contact between the patient and the doctor. I wasn't a lot happy with them. I didn't feel any real relationship established. They're not really paying attention to my needs and what I needed from them. Basically, there seemed to be a general "this is what you do, period." It wasn't geared to the individual as much as I thought it should be. I wasn't as pleased. It was very difficult. Sometimes, I needed to wait two hours for an appointment and then I was rushed in and rushed out. The program only meets for my needs one day per month. Everything gets jammed into that one day. Sometimes, that day gets cancelled. Their availability is difficult. The office environment of the hospital is very chaotic. They just put me in an examining room and then somebody comes in and tells us that my 15 minutes or 10 minutes is up. It just wasn't the kind of thing I was looking for. It was not my favorite experience. I was not terribly thrilled with the whole thing. It's just a difficult situation all the way around. It's a "You're still here, what do you need?" kind of attitude.

He is very open. He takes walk ins or you might need to wait because sometimes they are booked up. They try their best to take the care of you. They either do blood exam and then they send it to the lab or they might do the blood test during the appointment or after because you need to be on fasting. They might ask to come the next day. He writes prescriptions for lab tests. They tell you what he thinks might be wrong or whatever. If something doesn't work he will tell us straight up. He is personal, honest and all around a good doctor.

When the injury happened to my husband he actually had to wait about a week for an appointment and was already an existing patient. They scheduled the MRI and then we had to wait another week because Dr. McKay was travelling. When my husband went there Dr. McKay only saw one pair in the cartilage when he had two. He didn’t explain himself very well and then when they scheduled the surgery he was going to be travelling, so it was another three weeks. In his group there’s seven orthopedic surgeons and when we said that my husband couldn’t wait because he was in excruciating pain Dr. McKay said, "Well, he would have to go and see another doctor within that same group and then have to go through all the channels." He couldn’t even sit with another doctor and just pass on the MRI’s and this was because he was going on vacation. He expected my husband to be in pain for about 5-6 weeks before completing surgery on him. He's a very bad doctor. He's not available and has no sense of urgency, no concern for patients, and complaints.

Sorry...first post for me...read all the above. I have a L4-L5 root compression problem. Above is the whole story....he did nothing but give me an Rx for a Mylogram...which he said on the 4/13 visit he hadn't received the results of yet. I had the results in my purse because I personally had picked them up at the hospital where they did that CT.2 days after it was done.It was done on 3/23. GREAT FOLLOW-UP on his part...huh???? I experience pain when I walk more than a block ...which most times hits a 10 in discomfort level...If I lay down in bed or sit for about a half hour...the pain lessens to about a somewhat tolerable # 4 level. This condition has restricted my active style of life and social quality of life.....as I now need and use a walker to lessen the weight on left leg where the pain is referred to..

It went very well. My care was excellent. As an outpatient it appears that this facility was only an operating room for the procedure since almost all the services were outsourced. I received numerous individual bills from what seemed like an extraordinary number of sources; each bill seemed high to me considering the 3 or 4 hours I spent there. I felt like everyone was dipping their beak.

I was scheduled to the medical center by a doctor's office. The location was fairly close so I agreed. Parking was very difficult and the entrance hard to find. Admission/administrative was not easy and staff was pretty much seemingly unengaged. The service was not performed as scheduled despite what I assumed to be a firm appointment. The facility is reasonably large and navigation not as easy as most hospital facilities. Once arriving at the MRI center things went pretty well however and the results were ready promptly. All in all it was not a pleasant experience and I would not choose to return.
