In-home medical health evaluation and prescription of medications to include regular annual check-up, and blood pressure monitoring.
My mother is 88 and not ambulatory. AllianceCare (AC) is the only option for in-home visits. All we ever needed was a renewal of Mom's blood pressure meds; Mom's health is excellent. To get just her prescriptions, Mom was required to take day nurses, night nurses, weekend nurses, the nurse that accompanies the doctor on his rounds, a physical therapist, a personal care technician, a podiatrist, as well as the physician, all of them billing Medicare for each interaction, each interaction generating co-pay statements to a retired senior living on pensions. This company is unprofessional. They show up when they have no appointment, don't show up when they do have appointments and if you ask them to keep their appointments, or to come in the afternoon, they become passive aggressive. If you ask for a written notice to insure proper communication of an appointment, they tell you we can t do that. This corporation's staff is abusive and retaliative. Because we didn t want all of the unnecessary services, Adult Protective Services was called which came to the house for six weeks of a very humiliating and depersonalizing investigation of our personal lives, primarily data mining our financial information. The results were: NO CAUSE OF ACTION; no emergency extraction, no charges ever filed. Recently, I called to tell AC that her prescriptions had run out. She has MedCo which mails her medications. MedCo said it would be at least two weeks before her meds would arrive. I called AC back on 11.19.08, requesting a bridge script to be called into Wal-Mart until her MedCo meds arrived. To date, this doctor has not called in that prescription but his nurse-assistant called us saying that they would "have to discuss" whether or not Mom would be allowed a home visit appointment or any more prescriptions which could have been interpreted either as a threat or a burn notice. It would take less time and effort to just call in the script than it is taking for them to refuse the care. This physician is very competent and highly capable, however, he and his staff seem to be caught up in political, personal and corporate agendas which are sorely affecting their performance; they are openly taunting and intentionally derailing. Both my mother and I are nurses duly licensed through the states of New York and Massachusetts with licenses in good standing. Mom has been without a bridge script for her medications since 11.19.08. She is SUBJECT TO STROKE OR DEATH (cerebrovascular accident) and this doctor and his whole staff knows it. This corporation is capricious, irresponsible, and vindictive. No one should be subjected to such nonsense, especially when a life is at stake. AllianceCare, Inc., should be ashamed of how they treat their patients and should seriously consider visiting The Patient's Bill of Rights.
