    Austin Historical
Austin Home Restoration was recommended to us by an interior designer.  We were quoted a price with several options and reached an agreement on a certain portion of their proposal which included refinishing cabinets as well as adding new features to the cabinetry, decorative beams and some wall removal.
Our biggest issue was with the cabinet refinishing.  We were told that the cabinet doors would be completely removed and then repainted in the shop under controlled conditions.  The doors seemed to turn out okay but they were just painted on our porch in an uncontrolled environment.  Not sure if this will affect the life expectancy of the cablinet finish.
They also were to do some tiling of the backsplash which did not turn out satisfactorily and had to be redone a couple of times
Generally the work was okay and the owner was responsive to our needs and concerns and made things all okay in the end.
A may be a high score but none of these remodelers are consistently excellent and I thought Austin did okay compared to the rest.

The Dryer Company caused the damage to the grouting by their extensive drying, and not by any repairs, and that is why the Insurance Company advised us to get someone to do the repairs. The Insurance Company advised us they would already pay for the work. The Drying Company is the company that "Drys" out the house from the water damage, remove wet carpeting, removed wet baseboards, etc.
It's a shame that you will be having negative feedback left for you on Angie's List for leaving us hanging.
It would also have been professional to tell me that you could not do painting while on the phone instead of waiting until you arrived at our house.
By the way, your estimate for the other work is double what the Insurance Company said it should be done for.

Here is the proposal for all the water damage in the bedroom & trim in the master bath. I'll be glad to do this part of the job for you.
Sorry, I'm not going to be able to estimate the re-grouting of the shower. I've learned one thing in 29 year's of being in this business, that you don't get involved between a insurance company and a dryer contractor, to say which one is right and what would be the cost to repair someone else's work.
Hope you understand my position in regarding to the shower work. The best thing that you could do is to contact the dryer company that did the work, and let them know that you are not pleased with their work and ask them to correct the problem or have them send someone else; as they have been paid for the work done and they should also warranty their work for no leaks.
If you have any questions, please call.
    Thank you,

The work was performed in a professional manner. The project was delayed somewhat but that may have been due to trying to install a floor at the same time. Scott was very responsive and took care of any concerns we had immediately.

Work was completed in three days by Greg and his co-worker Ron, including working on a Saturday to complete the work to meet the scheduling needs of the homeowner. Both Greg and Ron were courteous, friendly, efficient, and professional. They readily accommodated some changes in the work plan requested by the homeowner. Greg provided receipts for all of the materials that he purchased for the job. The charges for labor were very reasonable and consistent with the original proposal, with a small additional charge to accommodate the extra work requested by the homeowner. The work areas were left clean after the work was completed. The homeowner was extremely happy with all aspects of the completed job including the quality of the workmanship, and will certainly call on Greg again when the need for new projects arise.

Mr Ratliff was courteous, professional and experienced. He answered my call immediately and was able to accommodate my request the same evening. My husband and I were very pleased with the results and we will be utilizing his services next week for carpentry repair. I highly recommend Mr. Ratliff and his partner.

It went very well. He is a private licensed handyman. We have used him before to replace the screening in a pool enclosure at our rental home. He does a very thorough job and cleaned up afterwards. He doesn't stop until you are totally satisfied with what he is doing. He is very easy to work with. He is also a disabled Vet. We have put his cards out several places and have referred him. His price is fantastic. We had other estimates that were well above what he was charging.

    Ben's Reliable Roofing
I left a message on their answering machine asking for a reroofing estimate. The recording had warned that it might take 2 to 3 weeks before an inspection could be done. I found a card in my door indicating an inspection had been done 3 weeks later. Ben called to give me the price. He said he was mailing a contract and it would take 6-10 weeks to start the job from the time he received the signed contract. I appreciated that the contract called for half the money when the roof was "dried in" (complete except for shingles), and the other half upon completion. This meant the company was doing the work and trusting me to pay as opposed to requiring me to give them money and trust them to do the work. The work was completed approximately 10 weeks after they received the contract. The workers were diligent in cleaning up the debris. The only minor complaint I have is they did not provide a sample of shingle colors and instead sent me to Home Depot and Lowe's to select a color.
