I brought in a 18" Homelite Chainsaw which ran. I was requesting they check why the chain didn't move freely on the bar. I assumed it was the clutch. I also wanted the primer bulb replaced and the pull rope repaired. I was called two weeks later stating it would be $150 to repair due to the carburetor needing replaced. I payed the $37.45 for them to look at the saw and picked up. The diagnosed carburetor didn't sit well with me so I went home repaired the pull cord. Which since they didn't repair proves they didn't even try to start. The saw cranked on second pull. I returned with saw and owner argued with me and wouldn't return the fee for them looking at it. I guess the charge for looking at your equipment should be taken literally. The get $37.45 for looking at equipment not actually touching it. Moral of this instance is this business tries to sell parts and services that are not required for the repair. Hopefully they change their ways or it catches up and they are forced to close the doors.

They never could get control of the weeds in the grass, which actually got worse. Lost three shrubs. Technician was only spending 10-15 min per visit. We still utilize Florida Pest for termite policies.

I have used Call the Treeman in the past (see my prior review for work done in 4/2015).  I was quite well pleased with the job they performed and the price charged (please see my prior review).  I had them come back to bid some limb trimming in 11/15, and for a number of reasons was not ready to proceed with the work until very recently.  I have called them repeatedly and left messages on Robert's voicemail.  I have also emailed them on more than one occasion asking that they contact me so we could arrange to start the work.  So far no response. I see that at least one other Angie's List reviewer has had the same experience, and I share his speculation as to what happened to this company.  If they are out of business, or for some other reason unable to provide services as this time, they should note this in the voicemail greeting.

I had never heard of Call the Treeman prior to reading about them on Angie's List.  They did have essentially straight A ratings from a significant number of Angie's List clients and I decided to have them provide a bid.  Their bid was several hundred dollars less than their closest competitor, but this price advantage does not tell the entire story.  Most of the other bidders had significant reservations about removing our sickly 60 foot tall water oak.  Most felt the access to our backyard was too restrictive for their equipment, and that several sections of fence would need to be taken down and replaced after work was complete. One required that I find him alternative access to our back yard for his equipment, presumably through our neighbors' yards, and could not guarantee that they would not leave large ruts in their properties.  One local contractor told me that he was reluctant about even bidding the work due to the limited access, and the fact that the water oak was located between a hand built play structure we wished to preserve, and an in ground pool, with surrounding cool deck.   Call the Treeman, on the other hand, planned to remove the trees and limbs using only ropes and chainsaws.  They provided written estimates of the work to be performed, and provided me, upon my request, with a copy of the declarations page from their professional liability insurance coverage.  They were a little behind in their schedule when I first accepted their bid due to some recent rain in our area which had delayed some jobs ahead of me.  They called about a week later with a cancellation and asked if I would like to take the date, which I did.  They arrived on time on the scheduled date with five men, a trailer for wood removal, various chainsaws, ropes and other equipment. We surveyed the work to be done (we had added some work to the front yard, which they bid quite reasonably) and they were off to the races.  They removed all the dead limbs we wanted in short order.  While working over my roof, they stationed one man on the roof to direct branches away from house.  He used a blower to clean off my roof and gutters after the work was done.   When it came to the water oak we were amazed at the efficiency with which they dispatched this ailing tree. They managed to get down the heavy limbs and trunk without any damage to the play structure, pool or cool deck.  When finished they cleared out all of the debris, raking my yard for even the smallest pieces and using a blower to assure the cleanup was complete.  They subcontracted the grinding of the water oak stump (they do not have stump grinder). They arranged for a local contractor to do this, and despite being finished with all of the other work, they would not leave the site on day #2 until he had completed the grinding to assure all went well.  While waiting for the stump grinder they opted to remove multiple suckers from live oak limbs in the front yard (at not additional cost).  They even blew off my entire circular driveway without being asked. Throughout the process the entire group was friendly, polite, and professional.  They left my property without a trace of them having been there, except for the absence of the unwanted trees and limbs. I would recommend their services most highly and without reservation.  I hope that as their business grows, as it undoubtedly will, that they will maintain this level of excellent service and professionalism.

charles and wife jessica work together, sometimes teaming, sometimes splitting up to take on separate projects. they get a lot done in the time they're working. everything i've asked them to do has been done well. they work at a good pace (at 65 i hate to be outrunning/outworking the handyman 30 years younger), paying $20 an hour seems very fair to me, and i don't have a problem with the occasional five-ten minute break. some of the work i ask of them is heavy work.

they've worked for me several days now.

if i'm taking them a distance i pay the driving time, and if they are pulling their own riding lawn mower behind their van, i contribute to gas. i haven't found anyone in the area where my rentals are to work at such a reasonable price. and i haven't found many people who give consistently skilled labor--small plumbing fixes, change out a light switch that is getting worn, clean out a shed and move the various pieces of storage furniture around, move filing cabinets, lawn work, roof cleaning, tree trimming, sealing decks...this was a job that meant lifting the small but heavy wooden decks up to get at the grain underground.

she's personable, he's serious, both friendly and effective.
