I called the company to change a battery on my key pad.  It took them so long for them to get there, that I had to call and ask them to come back the next day.  I was told that the cost would be $85 unless there was a problem. I gave them my credit card number so they could charge me the agreed upon $85.00 and they attempted to charge me almost double that amount. I asked if they had a problem with the lock and they said no, that they just replaced the battery. I asked why it was double the cost and they said because of the parts, tax and a bunch of other things that they added on.  They told me that they are not allowed to quote tax charges over the phone.

I had to dispute with my credit card company after I had contacted their fraud department as I authorized them to charge my card $85 and after I gave them my # they charged my card almost double. They told my credit card company that they made 2 trips to the property. Story never added up but the bottom line is that they charged my card more after I gave them my cc #. Thank goodness I have a great credit card company that was able to refund my $ but I would never do business with them as it is illegal to add unauthorized funds to a payment as they did. Not an honest company at all and would never do business with them in the future.

    Ham's Lock & Keys
After first speaking with Teri, I would have given this a 5 star review as he was quick to respond and very nice on the phone. We had a situation where we had a tenant arrive at out condo and our key pad was not working. I called Teri and they were going to come out to see what was wrong. I first asked what the cost would be. He said $85 if it is a simple fix and no more than $125 if something was wrong with it that required a more complicated repair. I agreed on the cost and  asked him to go to the condo. He said that he would send someone to fix it. Shortly after I called him, we were able to get the door open with the key but the key pad was not working. So I called to tell Teri that we did not need anyone to come urgently. But could someone look at it the following day as it was later in the evening. He said that he would see if his guy had a battery and if he did he would come immediately and would call me back to let me know. He never called back to let me know so I ended up calling him back as it was getting late and he said that he did have a battery. I told him that was great but it is now too late  and my tenants want to go to bed and if he could just fix in the morning and he said OK. Well the guy he sent came anyway and my tenants sent him away since I had told them that he was going to come the next day via my conversation with Teri. So the guy they dispatched calls me the following day and tells me he fixed it. That is took him only 15 minutes and it was an easy fix of just putting in a new battery. I said great and gave him my credit card for payment. After I gave him my card number I confirmed with him that the cost was $85. He said no that it was $145. Obviously I was shocked as that is not a number that Teri and I agreed upon. I told him that I was not going to pay $145 as Teri said that if it was an easy fix it would only be $85. He said that since he had to come out twice that he was charging me more. He said that he made a trip out and my tenants sent him away. I told him that they sent him away as I had told Teri that they could not wait up any longer and were going to bed and that Teri knew this and said that he would cancel the request to come in the evening because my tenants did not want to wait up any longer and have someone come the next day. He said that when I called him that his guy was at the condo with my my tenants. I assured him that was not the truth and showed him the text they had sent me asking about his where a bouts and that they could not wait up any longer. He then went on about how I should be grateful that he did not charge more money since it was the weekend, and that he did not include the tax in the amount he quoted because he is not allowed to quote the tax amount over the phone. He sent a text with a bunch of BS in it. I told him that I will be happy to pay the $85. Our agreed amount. Well, they went a head and charged my card $145 without my authorization. I had to contact the fraud department of my credit card and now they have to do an investigation as they charged my account above an amount that I authorized as I NEVER agreed to pay $145. Why would I pay $145 for someone to change a battery on my lock when that would cost more than a brand new lock. Please be very careful when doing business with these people and never, ever give your credit card to them over the phone as they may charge you an amount that you do not authorize like they did to us. Also they do not take Amex as the advertise here as that was our card of choice but he would not take it.

He showed up promptly. He's a mobile service. We've used him before and once more since.  My only issue was that he was wearing an NRA hat which I find offensive and unprofessional, but it's Key West so professional is not something you really expect. He is a really nice guy and always gets the job done.
