Hospital Care reviews in Homestead

They have the most locations. They cover the most geographic area. They are available all through our county. They are a non profit hospital...theoretically. With several of my type of insurance plans, they will not negotiate a contract. So that if I should unfortunately need any kind of care, in a hospital, I have to travel about an hour in heavy traffic from my home to any facility because I cannot use them and they are a few miles from my house. They have a facility that is considered one of the best in the country and I can't use them. So we live in fear of like; I sure as heck don't ever want to need to be hospitalized because no one could come see me. It is a specific nightmare scenario. They are everywhere and they are opening more facilities and they are opening more affiliated urgent care centers. The insurance people are also a part of the problem, I get that, but they will not bend and negotiate because of the prices that this non-profit charges to the insurance companies. I have offered to go to them and pay out of network prices and they won't take people doing that. It is horrible. I am retired now but all the years I was employed, it didn't matter which type of insurance, I could use their facility. They are excellent; there is no question. It is the strangest feeling; it is very peculiar. There are lots of us with Medicare plans that they won't deal with us. They are available if you have insurance to go there. Years ago I had to be hospitalized overnight in this particular one. I have never had better care, a cleaner facility or nicer people. That is the shame of it. Of course I would use them. I am totally frustrated.

The doctor took the time to explain everything. Make me feel comfortable. The office takes all of the stress out of setting up appointments and everything by sending you emails to remind you and helping in communicating. The Cleveland clinic has an app they you can use to also help plan and keep track of things

Without going into details because subject matter is still too painful, there was a lack of dignity for my husband during one particular incident. The aide was very rough and was too busy talking - in a very loud voice - to another individual across the room.  Only one aid during the time he was there was gentle and compassionate.  Communication skills for English speaking patients and family was very difficult. One nurse was unable to identify the correct terminology for one of my husband's medical conditions and was unaware of what he actually had. Another nurse hovered over his shoulder with an upraised needle in her hand, waiting to inject pain medication into his port/catheter, while another nurse was draining a tube from his lungs, causing - in my estimation possible contamination since the catheter was already infected and they had not replaced it. At another time a nurse drained his lung without using proper mask precautions. Another individual who was not germane to his care, pushed her way in to take a look at what was going on without asking the permission of patient or family member. This was during a supposedly contamination controlled procedure. He was on a restricted diet, but the meals they brought to him did not reflect that. |We had no choice at the time but to take my husband to this facility.

It was a fine experience. They took good care of me. I was in there for our days then I was sent to the rehabilitation center. Everything about the hospital was excellent. The nurses were very helpful.

I didn’t like the hospital at all. I was actually tortured in the hospital. I wasn’t a very good patient. I said something’s and I think it was understandable under the circumstances. The night nurse kept me tied to the bed. She would purposely tie it too tight and by the time I got out, there was black and blueness on my wrist. A person also told me that I could call the police because of the black and blueness on my wrist. I guess I was such a bad patient that they wouldn’t come when I was calling them. The nurses ignored me. I had trouble only with this one lady and rest of the staff was friendly. I had one more problem when I was in coma, I had acid coming out from my stomach and all my teeth rotted. Then I had a surgery to get my teeth fixed. The administration was horrible as I wanted to talk to them and they just ignored me. One lady came in, I told her that I was tortured and she never came back. I would never go back to them.
