One of our central A/C's stopped putting out cold air. The compressor outside was not running. We called and Rob scheduled a time to come out for the next day. He came out and found some thingie in the outside unit that needed replacement. Took about an hour and a half. He probably would have been done in a half hour, but he had to sit around for an hour waiting for the rain to stop LOL. Nice guy.

I was going to leave him a message on his business phone on Sunday evening so he would call me first thing in the morning. My A/C was running non-stop and the temperature kept going up. He called me back that night, told me he had a full day, but would come in the afternoon the next day as soon as he could. In the morning he called and said one of his jobs had cancelled, could he come then. I was pleased. He opened the unit and measured the Freon and told me it was low. He also showed me where half of my coils had been shorted out. My A/C unit is 8.5 years old and had to be recharged at around 3 years while under warranty and at that time I was told there might be a tiny leak. Mike told me the same thing, but I opted to have him recharge it and we will watch it. He also fixed the shorted out wire so all my coils work. He was pleasant and efficient. I will definitely use him in the future and refer him to others.

I heat/cool my entire small cottage with a through-the-wall heat pump.  It stopped working in the middle of a heat wave, and I had a very difficult time finding someone willing to repair it---most ac contractors don't like to get involved with these small units and recommend replacing them.  I couldn't afford to do that, and was finally led to Browning Heating and Air by another Angie's List "A" rated contractor, Precision Tech.  I want to compliment them as well because after several other companies simply refused, they were very sympathetic but explained that they just didn't handle small jobs like this.  They went the extra step of recommending a competitor that they thought might help me out, Browning Heating and Air.  I just can't say enough about the way Mark Browning conducts his business.  He came out the same day, and was met with the fluke occurrence of an area wide hours -long power failure.  (I mention this only because he drove 25 miles to get here at the end of a long day, and then refused when I offered to pay him for his inconvenience,  saying that it was something beyond my control.  I don't know of anyone else who would have done that.)  When he came back the next day, it had to be over 90° in here, and when he diagnosed that the problem was a burned-out breaker that had also damaged the power cord, he drove the 25 miles back to Gainesville to get a temporary replacement cord so I'd have air conditioning that day---something else I don't think anyone else would have done.  He had to come back one additional time with the correct size replacement breaker and to install the factory power cord that I special ordered.  I have never dealt with a more ethical and compassionate contractor.  I totally understand now why none of the other contractors wanted anything to do with my repair, but I just thank goodness that the philosophy of this company is to put helping people first.

I bought a house that had been vandalized, including removal of the air conditioner. I wanted an efficient system, but I am price conscious. My house is 1300 sq ft, and quite well insulated. I got quotes from four contractors. Frank Worthington gave the lowest quote, by more than $1000. His bid was low because (1) he has a small family business with low overhead; (2) he took the time to measure carefully and concluded that a 2 ton package was sufficient; and (3) he used a lesser known brand (ICP) with high product standards and a better warranty than the big name brands. The installation went smoothly and the system works very well.  It's stayed comfortable, but my electric bill, so far, hasn't reached $100, and it's been pretty toasty this last month.
Subsequently came out and repaired the non-working air conditioner on a condo I purchased.  There was some small part that had gone bad.  Frank found and fixed the problem rapidly, gave the system a check over, and cleaned up a few places that showed the effects of neglect.  I haven't gotten the bill yet, but he guaranteed I wouldn't go into shock when I see the bottom line.

We had 3 companies give estimates on replacing our central air unit. All 3 were very professional but 1 stood out above the others.Jacob from Newman's gave us a quote $1000.00 below the estimate on one and $1600.00 below the other. He showed us on his ipad at Consumers Report that the unit the other 2 quoted needed many more repairs on the average than the Bryant he wanted to install, the other unit was not a brand name. The Bryant was installed and so far is working very well.
Everyone we met from Newman's was very helpful and professional. They did what they said they would do and were a pleasure to work with.

We used them because that is who our contractor used to put the A/C in the house. They are average. We tried to call them in 2011 and we couldn't get them on the phone or they put us on hold and never came back. When they come out, they are good. The actual workers have been doing a good job and they are professional. We probably will use them unless we find somebody that is better.
