I live on the south shore of East Bay in Gulf Breeze. I had minor damage to my dock due to the northerly winds and high wave action during Hurricane Michael. Will and Sam worked with me to diagnose what had to be done and quoted a fair price. I received a call to let me know that my job was one of three in my neighborhood that they expected to do the following day. Unfortunately, the other jobs on that day delayed them but we were able to arrange a time on the next day. They arrived on time and completed the job efficiently and professionally. I was especially impressed with the material that was used. Hurricane clips and fasteners were all stainless steel. Screws, not nails, were used. The methods that they used exceeded those of the original installer. Like they advertise in their brochure, they "build with the next storm in mind." I highly recommend Tidal Defense, Inc. for both new and repair marine construction.

CONSUMER BEWARE! Dealing with Bock construction was the worst experience of our lives thus far. We were left with an incomplete house with a poor level of quality not found in ANY new construction...even Tract Housing. I'd be willing to allow anyone a walkthrough of our house to see what we were left with if they ever consider using this company. We're simply trying to prevent anyone the pain that we went through. We provided a list of things that needed to be corrected in January. It is now April and he no longer returns our texts and most likely will not honor his warranty or punch list. BEWARE! 1. A number of things not done to code until my wife and I got the county inspector involved. No outlets in some bathrooms (required by NEC), builder tried to wire a 40A double oven and 50A cooktop to a single 50A breaker, etc. We also have a damaged wire that will never be able to operate the fan in the greatroom and a switch in the foyer that doesn't operate anything (supposed to operate lower exterior lights). 2. Quality and attention to detail is horrific. We directed him to put the tile in first and then baseboard on top of tile which he ignored. He also did not cut the door jambs for tile to slide under. Tile looks less than amateur. Bad roller marks throughout the entire house, crooked walls that curve so that I can't even put shelves flush on the wall, amateur texture and paint throughout, holes in the ceiling and walls...there really is too much to list as far as lack of quality. Just look at pictures. In addition to the pictures we have pocket doors that don't stay open and close 1/2 way, broken shingles, missing flashing that's exposing plywood under siding to water, garage doors installed incorrectly with a 4" gap between the door and wall, unfinished storage room that was supposed to be finished, he didn't install bathroom hardware or mirrors per the contract, never installed the greatroom fan, and are having constant HVAC problems. We also just had the irrigation pump fail and are having to pay out of pocket to replace it. As I said before BEWARE! Before you build with Bock Construction I offer up my house to preview what you're getting yourself into.

Terrific.......these guys are pros. They were "EARLY" every morning for work. They were polite and their work is basically flawless. The quality of their construction and materials is excellent. I am very pleased. They even cleaned up so it was spotless when they were finished. No nails, screws, odd pieces of wood.......nothing.....no trash left behind. They were a pleasure to do business with. Peter, the design estimator and boss is a terrific guy and delivered on ALL of his promises!

Everything went smoothly and repairs were completed in a timely manner.  Mr. Braddock is organized and professional.  We plan on using Mr. Braddock's services again in the future.

Recently, the building has been undergoing extensive reconstruction, and this included the heavy use of jackhammers during the first 3 weeks of January. This, combined with grinding, pounding, and other noise essentially rendered the units unlivable for the entirety of January. Yet, the association still allowed condo owners to rent the units during this time. Many renters with month long reservations showed up, stayed for one or two days, and left because of the terrible noise. And renters are being refused refunds by the owners, despite the fact that Beach Colony and its owners could not fullfil their end of the bargain. This clearly constitutes fraud, since the units were unfit to live in.
Our reservation was for the month of January. When we made our reservation in September, we were told by the owner that only the balconies would be under construction, and the agreement merely stated that the patios would be closed off. No mention was made of the long-duration jack-hammering, or of the myriad of other inconveniences such as atriums being closed for painting on certain days, the beach access being closed, or the elevator doors being replaced. However, once we arrived, we quickly realized we could not stay there. The jackhammer noise was almost deafening. You literally could not hear yourself talk inside your own condo while this was going on. Regardless of whether they were hammering on the 15th floor or the 1st floor, the sound would travel through the concrete structure all the same. Also, the jack-hammering would begin as early as 7:00 AM, and not end until 4:00-5:00 PM.
The owner refuses to return our money, and is ignoring all attempts at contact.  I feel Beach Colony should compel the owners who rented their condos during this time to give refunds.
Especially avoid the owner Mike D. Henney of unit E5A.  He is the one who did not give the correct scope and duration of the construction, and is refusing contact, or refunds.  We have found him to be very unethical, and he even falsely accused us of $400.00 damage.  I am livid about that.  This is his listing:  http://www.vrbo.com/vacation-rentals/usa/florida/north-west/main-north-west/navarre-beach/beach-colony?sort+by=ReviewCount%2fDescending.
Make sure you book with another owner.
It is a beautiful place to stay otherwise, but watch which owner you deal with.  Not all of them at Beach Colony are ethical.

Had a quote the day I called him, and in a week he had the boat in the shop getting fixed. He comes right out and does it, he is efficient. Quality of the work is great. Very thorough and clean. Saved me about $500.

John Loftis is a highly professional marine contractor.  His company built our dock, boatlift and walkover.  They got it done on time and it looks fantastic.  He took care of all permitting, which is great because he knows the players.  If you put your job out to bid, Loftis probably won't be the low bidder, but you can be sure they will provide a quality product.

This is by far the FILTHIEST vacation rental I have ever seen. I would not recommend anyone stay here.  When we pulled in the driveway, it was obvious the house was not as well maintained as the neighboring homes -rust stains and greenish mold stains on the exterior, front door peeling paint and very corroded and dented hardware, front porch which is one story off the ground had lose railing on both sides with only a piece of twine across it – which my 3 year old was drawn to like a magnet and posed a serious danger.  It smelled like there was a dead animal in the home. We opened every cabinet in the kitchen looking for a mouse and finally found rotten asparagus and a foul smelling liquid spilled on the bottom shelf of the wine fridge.  The walls, doors, trim and carpet were filthy throughout every room. The light fixtures, ceiling fans, furniture, and decorative items were coated in dust.  There was an obviously used washcloth hanging from the shower curtain rod which was very loose and about to fall.  The shower curtain was completely coated in mold. There was a used bar of soap with hair on it on the armoire in the bedroom.  Many of the bath towels were thread bar.  The towel bar was broken and fell to the floor when touched.  The toilet paper rollers were all missing. The bed coverings were very obviously dirty.  The master bedroom shower was dirty and moldy. There were panties, dryer sheets, and lots dust around the washer and dryer.  The closet shelves were cluttered up with junk (no extra sheets, pillowcases or blankets though).  The air return vents were covered in copious amounts of dust.  The air vents in the room has a black substance that appeared to be mold.  The ping pong table was covered in rust and what appeared to be mold.  The entire downstairs area which is actually just a garage with slatted walls, was rusty, and filthy – this is not a living space, nor is it safe or suitable for anyone to “play”.  All of the beach chairs were rusty and several were broken.  The beach umbrellas were also broken with one of the umbrellas being completely shredded.  The bicycles are also rusty and broken.  We were told in our initial correspondence with the owner at time of reservation that there was a high chair available for our one year old.  The high chair was completely coated in food, dirt and mold.  It would have taken a pressure washer to even attempt to clean it. We were in immediate contact with the property manager who lives in Mississippi (shortly before our trip we were told that the owners were out of the country on vacation for the summer).  We asked for a partial refund, particularly the cleaning fee, due to the filthy condition the home and gave them numerous photos and a room by room listing of the situation and needed repairs. They denied our request and said they "did everything they could to make our families stay enjoyable" and only gave us the $250 refundable deposit which we would have got back anyway. The only attempt the property manager made was to send a cleaning lady on Tuesday afternoon (4 days after arrival when my family and I were out) with a bottle of bleach and she said "I am here to clean a high chair and a shower." My friend walked her through the entire property and she agreed it needed a deep cleaning and repairs. She also agreed the high chair needed to be trashed. She did give us a bar of soap and some trash bags. This was not sufficient to "make our families stay enjoyable." When asked her to clarify what they did there was no response. Voice mail messages with the property manager and both owners have had no response. Needless to say, we were very upset about having spent nearly $5000 to stay at this awful property.  We were also extremely disappointed in the owners, whom we believed were upstanding citizens and would be appalled once they learned the condition of the property.  Their refusal to at the very least offer to refund the $250 cleaning fee is shocking. Pensacola Beach would be a beautiful family vacation, just don’t stay at “Blue Heaven”.

Our sewer backed up on a Sunday before Thanksgiving. We called some guy out of the phone book who after 2 hours of trying to figure out where the leak was, told us we had big problems and would be back the next day (we are without plumbing now) with a camera. We call Pettry the next morning who told us they could be out first thing and they wouldn't need a camera to find the leak. Two guys came and it was immediately clear they knew what they were doing. They starting busting concrete on our driveway right away. They got to the leak that afternoon and were able to allow us to use the plumbing that night. It took several days to get everything finished, including re-pouring the concrete. We were so pleased with their work that we asked them to bid installation of water to our dock. The bid came in at half of what another contractor had bid, plus they were taking water from the main line instead to through the house line. Again, they knew what they were doing. Due to the holidays and some other emergencies, it took them several days to get to the work. But as of yesterday, all is completed and we are very happy with the job done! There are 2 master plumbers that do most of the work with several other capable laborers assisting. We highly recommend this company and when we build, we will hire these guys to do the work.

Storage Today is a lousy company to deal with. It took me an hour to get the truck that was sitting right in front of the rental office, even though I had reserved and paid for it days before. The attendant in charge of the facility was new, untrained and not very smart. She had to keep calling her boss on the phone to find out how to enter info on the computer, in between taking cell phone calls from her kids while I stood there waiting. I must have heard a dozen times, "I'm new here, sorry". I didn't ask why she was there alone if she didn't know the job. I guess her boss had something more important to do than run her business. I had also reserved a car trailer, which I had to drive two towns and a half hour away to get hooked up to the 16 footer I had rented. They had no business telling me a 16 foot truck could pull a car trailer without overheating; I had to drive 1200 miles to Florida with no air conditioning, just to keep the piece of s__t on the road! What really galls me, though, is that they never told me I'd be charged for not folding the moving blankets they rented me (which weren?t folded when I picked up the truck)! When I dropped the truck off at the Florida location, Pak ?n Fax, they told me to go out in 95 degree heat and fold 24 moving blankets, or they'd charge me $30. I refused, figuring I'd straighten it out with Budget's "customer service". Wrong! The first rep I talked to was very nice, and told me she'd never heard of anything so ridiculous, but the agency hadn't closed the account yet, so she couldn't do anything. Next day I called back, and this time another rep said I was charged legitimately, even though she could not tell me where I could find the clause about re-folding blankets (it's not in the rental agreement) , nor why I was never told about being charged beforehand. So Budget's service people don't know the rules, no one at the rental agency knew about them (Monica, the owner of Storage Today, said she'd never heard of it, but that apparently isn't her fault!), but I'm supposed to know , presumably through ESP. On top of it all, the people at Pak ?n Fax lied to the Budget people, saying I was abusive and cursed at them, which is a bunch of BS. They also said the truck was dirty, yet when I dropped it off, the blankets were the only thing they mentioned. Not a word about cleaning the truck. Which, come to think of it, is ridiculous in itself; you pay $1500 to rent a truck and they want you to clean it for them, too! Maybe I should have washed and waxed it, and rotated the tires, too.
