Glass Repair reviews in Gainesville

  • I called on a Monday and was told the scheduler would have to call me back. I waited and didn't receive a call so called again on Tuesday and spoke with scheduler who set an appointment for Thursday at noon. On Thursday no one had shown up by 2 so I called to ask about the delay and was told the person who was scheduled to be at my house had canceled all his appointments due to some type of personal issue. The person I spoke with didn't offer me an apology for my having not be made aware of this just said I'd need to call back later to reschedule a time for the repairs. I did this the following Thursday, after realizing there aren't many window repair options in Gainesville. I explained what had happen the following week and was told that, "They weren't scheduling any repair work because they had a couple of big window installations." At this point I asked if they could recommend anyone else in town that might be able to help me the person I was speaking to hung up on me. I will never waste my time with this company again.

  • Had a great experience with Windowman (after waiting 2 weeks for Golden Glass to give me an estimate, which they still haven't done...). Fernando came out the same day I called to look at the window, and he was able to give me an estimate right away. He said it would take about a week to get the replacement glass in, and a week later, I got a call that the glass was in. Two guys came out the next day to repair the window. They were very professional and did the repair itself in their truck to avoid getting any shards of glass in the house. They also sprayed down the new window and an adjacent one with silicone spray since they were really hard to move up and down. Everyone from the company was friendly and professional. Highly recommend.

  • I had a really good experience with everyone I worked with at Precision Glass. Harry was super generous with his time in helping me plan and price my project. Once it was ready to go, Brad met me at home to take take the measurements and finalize the plan. Julie was very pleasant and professional updating me on the order status. Coop and and his crew did an awesome job on the install. My job was a single (but large!) piece of shower glass and they treated me like I was the most important customer they had.

  • This could be a case study in bad customer service. I needed a large (7' x 5') piece of fixed glass fabricated and installed for a shower. I called ahead to make sure someone would have time to meet with me. When I showed up, at the office, the entry door is a stable-style door (bottom half closed, top half open). I lean in and tell the gal (Darlene?) I was the guy that called about shower glass. "yeah, whadya want?" Not very welcoming. I've got a sketch of what I want, I've got a photo of the space, I want to talk about track... and at some point while I'm leaning in trying to have a conversation with her across the room I think, "Is she going to get up?!" She finally does and looks over my materials. I tell her I wanted either 3/8" or 1/2" glass and she quickly replies. "You don't want 1/2". We hate 1/2". It's too much trouble for us to work with." uh... that's the tail wagging the dog, isn't it? We finish up and she says, "I can't get you now; I'm too busy." Ok... so I give her my email address. It took her almost two weeks to get me that quote! Not that it mattered because when I left, my first thought was, "I don't know who I'm going to get to do this work, but it sure as heck won't be these folks." My next stop made this visit look all the worse. Next business day, I go in to meet with Harry at Precision Glass. He pulls up a chair for me and treats me like the most important customer they've got. I tell him I'm not sure if I want 3/8" or 1/2" glass. Harry: "follow me." He takes me to display showing the two products and says, "look how good this 1/2" looks. It looks high end, it's substantive and check how solid it looks with those beveled edges. You put 1/8" beveled edges on 3/8" and it just doesn't look as good." Me: "it's not too heavy to work with?" Harry: "of course not. that's what we do." He talked to me about track options, finish options, towel bars, you name it. He spent close an hour with me before I left. Guess who got my business?

  • The first job was perfect. On the second job, the worker was very upfront and honest with me, explaining that the price would likely be too high in comparison to the rest of the home. Ultimately I chose not to pursue that project, but I've now hired them for further work. But overall, I know that their installations are perfect and I absolutely trust them.

  • The large and unusual mirrors might have been beyond the scope of Golden's ability, or the contractor, who was five months overdue on what he initially promised would be only a five month project, was putting undue pressure on his suppliers to work quickly at the end of the job. Whatever the cause, none of the mirrors provided by Golden is perfect. The largest mirror was chipped at a corner, and instead of replacing it, they shortened and smoothed one side of the mirror. Not only was that side out of scale, the new edge was crooked. Golden again tried to fix it, and again the bevel was off scale with the other sides and the corner that had been chipped was noticeably rounded. In the end, in order to get the project completed, we decided to accept the inferior product and the contractor reduced the price of the work. We would have rather paid for the service had a lovely mirror.

In addition, at this time all the mirrors Golden set near water are already rusting.

  • Our sliding glass doors are 40 years old.   They had gotten so ornery enough over time that we almost had to hire sumo wrestlers just to get them open or closed.  We had stopped using them at all and walked the long way around to get to the pool.
Golden Gate came to the rescue, and replaced the ancient rollers and track they ride on.  The door now opens so easily you can literally open it using just your baby pinky finger.  Tomorrow I'm going to try to open the door using only my thoughts, and I bet it will work.  :-)
The crew showed up on time, were polite and friendly, engineered their way around some obstacles, and left the job site cleaner than they found it.   We look forward to seeing them again when we get around to doing the other doors.
Thumbs up for Golden Glass, thanks guys!

  • Not well.  The measurements made for the glass were wrong for the 3 windows that needed new glass. The old kitchen window glass was broken when it was removed - (this may be what happens when glass is removed) and unfortunately, the new glass did not fit.  The new glass (which was so large) was broken when it was forced into the frame. So now I have a broken kitchen window until more glass can be ordered.  Not safe and not happy.  New glass is being expedited but it is will be another week and another morning off from work to have the window fixed.  The office staff was sympathetic at least.

  • The glaze on several windows began to distort viewing, almost like looking through a cloud or fog after about 3 years.   Hertitage glass did not return over 6 calls placed in a two week period.  When I finally got a person instead of voice mail, I was told that the warranty would have to be provided by the window manufacturer and that they did not honor the manufacturer's warranties.  I was given the number for Gorell Windows and Doors.   When I contacted them, I was informed that the company was purchased and although the name was the same, they did not honor warranties previous to the buy-out.   BEWARE of lifetime warranties: they are only good as long as the company decides.   ..And shame on Heritage for not honoring the warranty on the windows they sold me with a lifetime warranty!

  • Window Man Inc gave me options, they were punctual, and they did excellent work. They were very courteous, they were nice, they didn't give me the run around, they did what they said they were going to do, and did it fast. They made a trip to go buy trim so they could install it and paint it which was impressive that they went above and beyond. The price was comparative and since I ordered it I waited two weeks for specific glass and framing.
