    David Meyer Builder, Inc.
It has been said that a contractor is only as good as the tradesmen that he hires. In the case of the renovation of our den, the tradesman that was used was Tommy Ealum, subcontractor for David Meyer Builder, Inc. Tommy Ealum and his crew did a fabulous job repairing the room and went over and above what was expected, with attention to detail. After roof damage by an EF0 tornado was repaired, a contractor was needed to repair the den, the room under that roof. David Meyer Builder, Inc. was selected from Angie's List . His proposal was submitted on May 3, 2018. Repairs were started four days later and finished on the date specified. The team was very professional and skilled in workmanship. The den now has a much better appearance with corrections on the walls, window areas, and ceiling. We would highly recommend David and his team to anyone who needs this type of contractor. The contracted price was more than we expected to pay for these repairs, but with the extra efforts of Tommy Ealum, we feel that we received a very fair deal.

David was prompt, professional, and did great work for a fair price. He was able to come out on relatively short notice and the work was completed on time. I highly recommend him, and I would hire him again without hesitation.

Never showed up for schedule appointment Wednesday 4pm. Call him and at 4:20pm ask when he will be here to check out the job he said to me "I thought the appointment was for yesterday I was going to call you up and tell you why I could not come". Then tired to schedule another appointment but said he would not be able to come out to next week Thursday because of the holiday traffic in Destin. This guy really disappointed me and the reviews on this site makes him look like he is very professional. Truly disappointed

Mr. Meyer did an excellent job and I had no issues. He kept
me informed on everything that was happening I am thrilled with how this
project turned out. Honest and no drama, just the way I like it.
    Highly recommend.

This was just too big a job for this contractor. The most disorganized poorly planned venture ever. All the work was done at least twice because of poor planning, poor skill, or lack of knowledge. David would show up briefly every morning then disappear. Nothing ever completed. Deck was half done, had to be completed finally by subs for the dock,Hardy board half done with incorrect nails, errors just caulked over, paint sloppily applied, overspray on windows, walls, and marble tile from ceiling work, windows incorrectly measured, glass broken Expensive items were lost, discardedor broken. I have never seen someone so unconcerned about shoddy work. (" I knew you would be unhappy if it wasn't perfect" -David Meyer) We were charged for hourly wages for his crew for work we could not see, that he could not demonstrate when asked. We have had to hire subs to repair work his crew did incorrectly. We had to fire his recommended subs and had to hire other subs to repair damage or poor work. He was very expensive because of the high cost of doing the job twice (or more, after hiring someone to fix errors aftera redo).

David always has an excuse. It is always someone else's fault, never his own lack of planning, supervision, or knowledge.

This contractor does not communicate regarding his potential damage to our property.  Lawyer contact has not been returned from his lawyer office to ours and no personal contact regarding the fence placement for 38 years and possible land ownership of the 3'x105' strip of land behind our home at 701 Overbrook Dr., FWB, FL

He now has two houses, one of which is directly behind us and is for sale on hand that maybe in conflict with the local setback regulations if the land strip on which he removed our 38 year old fence (chain link with privacy slats) on a parcel 3' x 105' at the rear of our property is contested.

We have not been under contract with his firm in any way and would recommend others be careful in their dealings with this person and firm.

Other facebook records have shown other buyers have had difficulties in getting repairs to homes he has sold and in some cases many problem years after the sale home sale have gone un-repaired.

Great! At last, we've found some real skilled professionals who know the right way to do things and won't settle for anything that does not meet their high standards. They did not need to be guided by my critiques, but instead worked as if it was their house and they wanted it right! They were a pleasure to have working in our home. They found unknown deficiencies that the previous contractor had covered with sheetrock and made sure everything was corrected. They kept debris at a minimum and always left the area clean each day. They were very responsive to our questions. Bottom line: No more water leaks! Looks great and works great! A great team! They did what they said they would do and did it right!

James Taylor Homes by James Taylor General Contractor Inc.
A storm caused damage to our roof and ceiling shortly after we purchased our home. We have had a new roof put on our house and now need to repair the ceiling inside the house. We needed to get 3 different estimates on the work that needed to be done for our insurance company. I called Mr. Taylor a couple of times and was given the name and number of his sheet-rocker Mr. Grant. I called Mr. Grant several times and have yet to receive a reply.
The only time I received a call back was when I posted a review here on Angie's List (re: not being contacted). The call was NOT from Mr. Grant! Mr. Taylor called and tried to clear up any misunderstanding. He also gave me Mr. Grant's number again and asked that I call and leave a message (which I had done several times before) however, I did call again and have still received NO reply.
I understand that this is NOT a big job, however, it does need to be done and all I wanted was for someone to come out and give me an estimate. There was NO rush on the job, just wanted to get something on the schedule.
Please understand this grade is for the communication between myself and the company.

James came over with his sheetrock guy Richard Grant to give an estimate, then had me work with Richard directly after that. It was a nasty job to pull out all the old stuff, but Glenn did a great job. They were great about coordinating around the electrician that I had come in to replace the wiring. Previously, the skylights had dark-stained cedar frames around the interiors. Glenn suggested replacing those with sheetrock and texturing them. Wow! What a difference that made in the the look and brightness in the room. I would definitely use them again.

He came out and measured, and said we'd here from him on the following week.  That was 3 weeks ago. If a contractor does not have time and decides not to quote, it would be common courtesy to call and let us know so that we can pursue other options.
