  • I visited there to start with, being told that it was only 400/month. Only being in college, I didn't have that much to spend. Each time I visited though, until I signed a lease, the rent would go up ten dollars.
I began living there and it was fine for the first 6 months or so, aside from neighbors being loud and the area having tons of feral cats. One day, I came home to my bedroom flooded. I had someone come check it and a pipe had burst in the wall. My neighbor had moved out recently for the same problem but they failed to inform me of it. They brought people in to fix the pipe and dry the carpet, they never replaced it. I noticed soon after, that mold was growing on the wall that the pipe had burst in. I informed the office and someone came over to inspect it. They painted over the mold and said it had been fixed. Soon, the mold grew back and I complained again, it was smelling in my apartment and affecting my allergies. They inspected it again and told me it was safe to live in the apartment despite the mold and I could continue living there. Only after demanding that I needed another apartment, did they let me move into another. But, I had to sign a whole new lease, which was another battle because I wanted to just continue my lease from before and not sign a whole new contract. They also took all of my deposit money and told me I had to pay another deposit for the new apartment. I figured I might have left the former apartment a little too dirty and let that slide, thinking it might really be my fault.
While living in the new apartment, I started spending the night at my boyfriend's house and it was broken into one night. They took everything from my tv to my electric drill. Not to mention my dvds and games. I called the police and alerted the office but they didn't seem concerned at all and only handed me a card of the "security" they had at the apartment which only consisted of a guard roving the parking lot of the complex from 7pm-2am. The man who broke into my apartment was caught thanks to my excellent description of the items lost. It turned out that he worked for the complex as a maintenance man!
After moving out, I was told I'd be mailed my security or be sent a reason why I wouldn't get it back. I never received anything in the mail. A couple months later, I called and asked why I hadn't received anything in the mail. They explained that they were under new management and I was not going to get my deposit back because my apartment was left dirty, there were animal stains on the carpet and the appliances were filthy. But I knew none of this was true seeing as how I spent hours cleaning that apartment and took pictures to prove it! They also said I would not be receiving a paper copy of this because there was no way to print the record. They still have not returned my deposit to this day and I don't expect to see a cent of it anymore. Any lawyers charge makes it not worth going after them for.
My advice is to never ever EVER set foot inside that complex. It looks friendly from the outside but the staff does not care one iota for its residents and will do anything not to give you your deposit back.
