    Acorn Tree Service
Called Acorn a week and a half ago to set up an appointment for an estimate. They never showed. Called them an hour or so after they were supposed to be here and Ray, the owner, said his truck had broken down a couple days prior and he was having a new transmission put in. i'm sympathetic to equipment problems, but wish he had contacted me to let me know he wouldn't be there. i have to rearrange my schedule and then stay in the house during the time range when a service person is supposed to arrive; in this case, about three hours. Very frustrating when they simply don't show and don't call. He thought it might be a couple more days before the truck was ready, but because i had already been stood up twice by another tree service that same week, I did not bother re-scheduling a "maybe" appointment.

    Fitzgeralds Tree Service
The person who came to give the estimate seemed professional enough. Got the estimate but later we decided to add one palm to be cut. Called the estimator and he added that to the quote and dropped off a copy. When the actual crew showed up the following week, they came in a truck with the name of another tree service on the side; it did not say Fitzgerald (don't recall what the other name was). Odd, but whatever. I had been watching for them and knew that the people who would actually do the work would not involve the estimator; i wanted to show the actual service people which trees just to be sure there was no confusion, and to make sure they didn't drive their trucks over the well caps, leech field, septic tank, and driveway. The trees to be cut were marked w/ survey flags, as were the well caps and septic system, but you can't be too careful. And once a tree's down, you can't put it back up. I was expecting that someone would come to the door when they arrived, as the estimator had assured me they would. But that didn't happen. I heard them in the yard and went out to show them; actually had to shout down the guy who was in charge because he was totally ignoring me (maybe just focused on the task at hand). Took some time to finally get his attention and as I was showing them what was supposed to be done, he said his sheet didn't show one of the trees, and if i wanted that one cut, I'd have to pay more. But I showed him the final quote copy i had from the estimator, with all the trees marked on it and the total--and it was different from the copy that had been given to him. He was not happy and was cursing the estimator. His profanity and anger were not professional. I'm sorry if they have internal issues--but as a customer, that's really not my problem. That man was obviously in charge; he had an assistant also. Those two I assume were regular Fitzgerald employees, and they had about a dozen helpers with them. I suspect the helpers were all temp / day laborers and given the number of tatts on each and the various signs, I was uneasy having them on our property. Presumably Fitzgerald's had some larger jobs later in the day that necessitated that large a crew. When they finished topping off the one tree (a large dead oak that threatened to fall into our house), i questioned whether they had cut off enough to keep it off the house if it should fall. They insisted they had cut enough. i've never tried to climb the tree to measure, but if it doesn't hit the house when it falls, it will be awfully close. When I went to write out the check, the man in charge told me to write it out to a different LLC--not Fitzgerald's. And not the name of the tree company on their truck, either. A bit fishy. Later, I was talking with a neighbor about the experience and she said she'd hired them once but wouldn't again--that Fitzgerald's had asked her to write the check out to him personally, not to the tree service--and she told him she'd already written the check to the tree service. The day Fitzgerald's was there, we were also having well issues and a relative was trying to help me figure out the problem with the well. I was distracted and not until later that afternoon I realized that one of the small trees in the back that was supposed to be cut down was not. So had to contact them again about getting that one cut down. They did do it at some point when we weren't home.

    Atlantic Property Services
Steve came to give an estimate a week and a half ago. Was professional and efficient, but said he was out of forms and couldn't give me a written estimate at the time. I gave him my email and he was going to send me an estimate, and told him that alternatively, he could drop one by the house. After a couple days, I hadn't received an estimate and called and left a message on voicemail. Didn't hear anything or receive an estimate. Waited a few more days and called again and left message with same result--no response. I realize it's only been 6 weeks since Irma swept through and tree companies are still busy, although Matthew took out far more trees in our area than Irma did. I just wish people would return calls or, if they truly are too busy to take additional work, just be honest and say they can't accommodate any other customers at this time.

Ricky was prompt in returning my initial call, called when he was running late, which was just a few minutes anyway, and overall was very personable. He cut the dead and overhanging limbs, including some not included in the price, but they needed cutting, cleaned up and was done........................just like that.
His work and his prices are so reasonable that I will not wait to call in the future.

The removal went very well, the company was quite responsive in providing appropriate paperwork to get county approval to remove this 28" oak tree which is protected by code.  A large crane was brought in to protect the house while the tree was carefully removed in sections, no damage to structure or surrounding plants or trees at all.

Ricky and his team removed 5 dead trees, close to power lines and to our house. They also trimmed quite a few palms. All was done exactly as requested and they cleaned everything up and hauled it away. We highly recommend them.

    LANDSCAPE SOLUTIONS
We have been very pleased. They are the only ones we use. He did just about everything a landscaper could do. We have used him four times in the past two years. He has been outstanding in every respect every time. He originally designed the landscaping. He has been very reasonably priced for the amount of work that he has done and the quality and quantity. He comes when he says he will and does what he says he will do. He doesn't do anything without our approval. It is a partnership. We had several estimates and proposals for our landscaping. We have had countless comments from our neighbors about how we have the nicest looking place and that is largely due to Steve's suggestions. Steve is the principal of the company and does much of the work. He has a helper that is also very good. The price was fair and certainly better than others that we got.
