    Ward, Dr. Christopher H
In the end it was a disaster. I was referred to Dr. Ward by an optometrist who couldn't get the vision in one eye fully corrected to 20/20. Dr. Ward's technician, who did the refractory exam, was able to get me corrected to 20/20. All was well until I asked that the prescription be calculated for computer distance. Dr. Ward tried every which way to convince me that progressives are for far/mid/and near distances and computer adjustment was not necessary nor would he prescribe such. He raised his voice and said he had many years of experience, that he went to Harvard, and that I should trust him. Well, sorry, no. I have worn progressives, calculated for computer distance for 10 years, and they are exactly what I need. He continued insisting that he was right and that I should trust him, and I finally had enough and said I was leaving. He stood in the exam room doorway and angrily told the lady at the checkout desk not to charge me, and to get me out of the office. When I asked the lady if I could have a copy of the prescription and that I was willing to pay, he said most emphatically NO, get her out of the office. He then walked around and held the outside door wide open until I exited. It was a very unpleasant experience with an unnecessary, unprofessional outcome to a situation that could have had a very simple, positive, productive, and reasonable resolution. I have worn Room Vision progressives by Zeiss, calculated for computer distance, for ten years. All I wanted was an accurate prescription calculated for my needs. He could very easily have provided it, but he chose not to.

    Dunnellon Eye Care
She is located in the Walmart Vision center, but she doesn't work for Walmart.  I was greeted by her very friendly staff and given the usual paperwork to do...everybody's favorite.  Shortly thereafter the tech (I think her name is Julia, and she is a riot but still very professional) took me in to do some initial testing and after that I was taken in to Dr. Azwell.  I have to say, here in tiny Dunnellon is the best eye doctor I have ever been to.  I have never had a more thorough exam, nor have I ever been to an optometrist who took so much time answering all my questions.  After her tech took a picture "behind my eye", Dr. Azwell took me into her office and explained every detail of what I was seeing.  Amazing. My wife and I live up north, but my eye exams will be scheduled around our visits to FL!

    Ocala Eye
Examination of eyelids for surgery and Medicare explanation was the first visit.  Surgery lasted about an hour with no problems.  Stitches dissolved quickly with no problems.  Ocala Eye is the place to go.

    Wingo, Dr. L. Earl
About three years ago I was experiencing more than normal decrease in vision which was diagnosed by Dr. Wingo as being due to cataract growth.  Since about age 12 I have been severely near-sighted to the tune of 20-400 in both eyes and have worn glasses ever since.  At the time of my cataract surgery I was 68 years old.  Dr. Wingo performed surgery first on my left eye removing the cataract and then putting in an ocular implant.  About a month later he performed the same procedure on my right eye.  After having to wear corrective lenses nearly all of my life, I now only wear them when reading or driving at night.  I passed the Drivers License eye test and no longer have "corrective lenses required" on my drivers license.  Procedures on both eyes were extremely successful with no associated problems or infections resulting from the surgery or the implants.  My wife has experienced periodic problems with eye allergies related to pollen and "dry eye".  Treatment and prescriptions recommended by Dr. Wingo have been very successful and have provided her with much needed relief from those symptoms.  I trust Dr. Wingo implicitly and highly recommend him to anyone seeking a competent, knowledgeable and experienced ophthalmologist.
A problem for some may be the waiting time for your appointment.  It is not unusual to wait to be called thirty minutes and on occasion up to one hour past your appointment time.  I have discovered that this is probably due to the fact Dr. Wingo does not rush his time with any of his patients but for me, I'm willing to put up with the wait time in order to have access to the best eye doctor in the area.  All of the office staff and techs are friendly and competent.

    Ocala Eye
I had a very bad experience with the first eye. Somebody then recommended Ocala Eye to me and so I thought that I would give a shot. They're absolutely fantastic and I had no pain with the eye that they did. The experience is exceptional. They're so timely, outgoing and they're professional.

    Newcomer, Dr. Jay
What a wonderful experience. From the staff at the front desk to the technicians, everyone was so friendly and kind. Dr. Newcomer (Jay) introduced himself and was not at all stuffy or formal, just a cool guy who is interested in making sure your eyes are the best they can be for you. We went over my history, talked about all my options for my situation, and decided together what the best course of action was. It was a collaborative approach, but in the end, everything was my decision, with his caring guidance, and I liked that a lot. This is by far the best eye doctor experience I've ever had, and I will be a loyal patron of Dr. Jay Newcomer as long as I live here in Citrus County.... which I plan on being for a very long time!

    Lange, Dr. Michael P.
I always arrive about 10 minutes early, and was called back about 15 minutes later for the basic preliminary tests by a technician first.
After this was done, I was placed in an exam room and waited about ten minutes for Dr. Lange to come in.
We always shake hands, and talk for awhile since we have had a long term doctor patient relationship.
He completed my exam, and fortunately nothing had changed from last year.
We discussed nutritional supplements for awhile longer, and I was on my way home.
I can't say enough about how I feel about Dr. Lange.
This man works like a horse, and can be spoken to almost 24/7.
I have asked him questions via e-mail a number of times, and he usually responds the same day.
One Sunday I had a pain in my eye, and placed a call to his closed main office where I left a message.
Within fifteen minutes my phone was ringing, and it was Dr. Lange himself calling me back.
He asked me extensive questions, and came up with a diagnosis that indicated I could wait until Monday to be seen, but he offered to meet me at the closest office if I felt uneasy about waiting.
You will never find a better eye doc in my opinion!
