    K Berger Construction
The worst contractor I have ever encountered. The company was paid to repair my parent's home after the storm-related damage that occurred in February 2018. They have yet to complete the work (it is now August 2018) and the work they have done is of very low quality. Yet, the company continues to harass my parents and is threatening to sue for a deductible despite the work not being completed and without providing any sort of itemized billing (as requested). FACTS: The fence has yet to be finished and the portions they completed lack quality as they used substandard materials. The gates are in violation of city codes and lack the hardware to open and close properly. The contractor never filed for proper city permits. The deck was never completed and the work performed is not consistent with a licensed contractor. The interior ceiling, which has water damage, was merely painted over. The texture is inconsistent and looks terrible. The company lacks integrity and exhibits unethical business practices. DO NOT use this contractor. I wouldn't trust them to put together a lego set much less do repairs on your home.

Laurie was amazing! She promptly replied to all of my messages and matched the price on a competitors bid. The pressure washing didn't clean some of the areas that had come clean when it was pressure washed before, but that may be due to the aging of the paint. The driveway mold spots also didn't come as clean. They said they had used a strong dose of chemicals and that was a clean as they could get it.

2 Guys Fence & Deck Repair
Great job!. Professional, on time and on budget. These guys were great to work with and build a deck strong enough for a Tank to roll on. Can't say enough good things about them. Look forward to getting them back to do additional work.

Our experience with The Deck Boss was completely positive. They were very flexible on scheduling and understood our needs. The quality of the deck & stairs we had done is definitely one of the best I have seen.
We feel very safe with their sturdy craftsmanship and their professionalism was second to none.
I will definitely engage with this great company as we complete other projects.

As a person Al tries to be good, would probably do all or more than required if he had a small job. Do not hire him for anything that would take over a few  days. But his work ethics is not good. For 6 months before  he finally quit, It would be him or his one worker, some times.  There was as much as a week at the time I would not see anyone. They were very unorganized, did not clean up behind them selves. He finally fired his worker that had done 75% of the work that had been done as he was there a lot more than Al, as Al run out of money. Right after I paid him the first $25,000.00 on Sept 19th. He bought a nice looking Jeep. He told me later he had to sell it.

They scraped the popcorn ceiling did not put down a drop cloth, then did the texture and paint on ceilings and walls and did not clean up. I still do not have all of it out of the seams of the hardwood floors and the grout of the tile.

He had a crew of Mexicans to put up the hardy plank, on the upstairs. He was supposed to replaced all bad wood, not sure this was done, The facing on the two dormers, were pieced, which is on the front of the house. Then he had another crew to come and paint the outside. of the house. They painted over what I call ( dirt dobber ) nest in several places( I am not sure who was supposed to pressure wash the house. Pretty sure it was Al, as his pressure washer tore up and they used one that I had borrowed from a friend and had there for us to pressure  wash the deck, side walks and things,). They also sprayed paint on porches, brick sidewalks, and decks . I had to pay the painters as he could not. They charged $3800.00 Also I am still buying things and paying someone to spray, brush, scrub and pressure wash the brick patio and  walkways around the house. He was to replace 4 double sliding doors. Instead he repaired then. saving him about $15,000.00.

He has a problem telling the complete truth, He told me he was going to South Fl. to his nieces funeral. Instead he went on a deep sea fishing trip. I did not ask for this. I assume he felt guilty that no more was done.

He was supposed to give me a lock and key job. He did not do several of the things he was supposed to do as he ran out of money I had already paid him $37,500 and he needed  more. I would not pay him more,  The contract called for the balance to be paid on completion of job, but I did buy supplies. The days before he left he was broke, I went and bought him cigarettes,  He always needed money. before time it was due. The day before he left I hand him a $100.00 bill as I was not sure he had any money for gas. The day he left he did not mention money but I wrote out a check for $1,000.00 and gave to him, as I knew he was broke.

Near the beginning he replaced all light switches and plug ins. They were beige and the small flip switches. He replaced them with the nice white toggle switch. This was not listed on the contract. He worked hard 2 days doing this. When he was finished they would not turn on lights as there is several 2 way,3 way, and 4 way switches. He ask me to call an electrician, I did not know one so he called one he knew. They come and corrected most of it and charged me $2300.00. which I had to pay. Just last week, I had to hire another one, for things we found later, which was $600.00.

He has been gone for about 3 weeks now, I am still paying 2 to 3 people everyday doing clean up and the things that were not finished. Al I am still on my hands and knees getting the kitchen floor clean from the Popcorn, spackling and paint falling on it.

I found him on Angie's list and read 3 reviews. I noticed the 2 small jobs, gave him good reviews, They were $1,000.00 or less. The one that was bigger he got a very bad review.  Later I do not understand this I found a review where he was working on condos or apartments, she had given him a good review as she had worked for her for a very long time, according to his worker and him he got fired during the time he was working on my house, As she was not pleased with him wanting his money and she said he had not completed the job. So I am sure she would like to change her review now.

Rescreening of porch went well, arrived on time, did a good job. no issues with that part of the 3 part project.
taking out the old shower and converting into a closet I would grade a B.  Only because the metal shelves were installed with little clearance making it hard to move them out of the way for me to paint the walls.
The showcase was to be the two station shower.  This is a big shower, 5ft. 2in. by 7ft.  The first day of construction was to take out the old tub and walls, old shower, move drain in floor and water lines.  OK so far, they did not have a heavy duty hammer drill to take out the needed area in the floor slab to install the new floor drain.  Next day they had the proper tool and started building.  Water was moved, walls correctly put in, all no problems.  Being a non standard size they had to custom build a floor pan and did so with concrete. Whoops, not enough concrete, see you tomorrow.  Back with the concrete, that part done.  This was all done freestyle and is not really perfect as it is a little wavy.  grade it a C.  Now the sheets of tile and center drain,  the grout lines do not line up in several areas and the center drain trim was not square to the tile and had them resquare it.  Grade that part of the job a D- .  The back wall has a full length bench, as they were building it I asked that they pay careful attention and pitch it so water would run off the bench.  Grade that a F, also the step in to the shower is not pitched in enough, another F. The selection of hardware for the showers was great, only problem, they ordered the wrong diverter valve, more delays and a phone call to Chicago to straighten it all out because that is where everyone was attending a workshop to replace the product they were using on my wall with another of equal quality but having a lower price.  I got the higher price material and never was told they were getting a new line of material.  The glass doors from their supplier were late, promised, late again and again.  Finally arrives but the top rail is not correct and we have some more delays.  Finally done, finished caulking and did final caulk with a clear next to the opaque that had been used.  Clear is a far better look and I ask if they will recaulk to clear. " I'll get back to you on that and I agree, clear does look better."  Still waiting Jose.  Nice guy, full of promises, wants this to be the showcase job in the resort and hopes to get a lot of business on the project.  He was to be on top of this job the whole way, it was to be perfect.  No way Jose.  He will have all the excuses.  Still waiting for all of the warranty paperwork,  sick of hearing the excuses.  They sent a electrician, son of the owner of the electric company and a helper to install a ceiling fan and shower light.  They arrived without anyone saying they were coming.  Between Hometowns crew and me,[ having electrical knowledge] taught the two young lads how to do the job.  They needed a circuit breaker and did not have one so I taught him how to tap into another breaker.  Final grade, screen job A,  closet conversion B, and shower, anything from a B to an F, shower overall I give a C- to a D

James Taylor Homes by James Taylor General Contractor Inc.
We have done four major renovations with four different general contractors in various properties that we have owned over the years. Our experience with James was the best by far. First and foremost, James is honest. He tells you what he will do, when he will do it and how much it will cost. He then does it. We bid this work to four general contractors in the area (all recommended highly on Angie's List. James was not the cheapest quote we received. He submitted a thorough and thoughtful bid; asking clarifying questions that made us focus on the details of the project. Once awarded the work, James started promptly and kept us posted as to his progress and to any issues that arose. Our communication was made more difficult as we were out of state. James sent regular email updates and pictures to keep us in the loop. We traveled to FL to visit the property and were very impressed and completely satisfied with the quality of his work. Overall, James provided a great renovation experience. We really enjoyed working with him. James Is a true gentleman that can be trusted. We can think of no higher compliment to convey our satisfaction with his work and his professionalism.

    David Meyer Builder, Inc.
David?Meyer, of David Meyer Builder, provided the most practical and cost effective solution to a major 1990 renovation project on our house, one of the older homes.? He built our guest cottage on?time and within the estimate.?Since that time we have used David Meyer for multiple projects in and around our house and cottage: a greenhouse and workshop added to the cottage, kitchen renovation, windows replacement, installation of new kitchen equipment, major door replacements, and deck repair.? Currently, he has just completed a ?back to the studs and floor reconstruction? bathroom replacement, replacement of badly weathered siding, complete house and cottage painting, a very large deck replacement (1200 sq.ft.), and installation and plumbing of new kitchen appliances. David?s?crew supervisors are without peers; they are competent and sensitive to the disruption in the customer's daily routine and importance of on-time completion.? The work crews are skilled, proficient, and innovative. When they leave at the end of their day you find they have cleaned up the area and all tools have been removed. We trust David Meyer to give us a fair estimate of the job to be performed by a well-paid supervisor and crew, on time, and to our complete satisfaction.? Important also is David Meyer stands behind all the work done.? David Meyer has our total trust.

We were living in Georgia and purchased a retirement home in Destin Florida.  We talked to many builders but used Dave because he was an established builder in Destin and every one we talked to recommended him as the best builder in our area.  In addition we looked at a few of his prior projects and were very impressed.  After a couple of meetings we felt he is very responsible and could build our home with little oversight while we lived in Georgia.    We did come down about every other month to check on the progress and were always impressed with the progress and  quality of work.  Dave was always keeping us informed via the phone and when we called him he was always very responsive.  I noted that his crew were all skilled in all phases of construciton, as well as electric and plumbing,  and he had a dedicated foreman overseeing the build at all times.  This minimized construction mistakes and kept the project on time.  Dave's contracts are staight forward and easy to read.  We knew that the payments we made were going directly to our project and were not requested until needed.  I would recommend Dave Meyer to anyone wanting a quality job at a fair price.
