Hospital Care reviews in Delray Beach

I did not have a good experience at West Boca Medical Center. My doctor only operates at this hospital so I had no choice if I wanted him to do my surgery.  The care was not the best.  Some of the nurses were good but the bad ones had attitude and could care less about the patients.  I asked for a pain pill and waited an hour and a half before they brought it to me and that was only because I rang them a second time.  Also I couldn't get out of bed and needed a bedpan.  Most of the time they would get to me but on one occasion they made me wait 30 minutes.  Unacceptable.  The food was disgusting.  How anyone can strengthen their body and get well on that is beyond me.  They made me pay the rest of my deductible up front which was fine.  The problem was that my anesthesiologist got his bill into my insurance company first which met my deductible, so I needed to get a full refund from the hospital .  It took 4 1/2 months to get that refund. Numerous phone calls did nothing. They promised to refund the money within their 14-21 business day policy, but missed 3 deadlines.  We finally had to file a complaint with the Attorney General's office to get the refund.  Absolutely ridiculous.  I do not ever want to be in that facility again.  If I need my doctor again for surgery, I will change doctors than spend a minute in that place.

The Emergency Department staff was excellent. It was all down hill once she left the ED. Of course she was not going to have surgery on Thanksgiving. I waited most of the day for some communication from the Case manager to inform me of the pending surgery. I assumed she was to have surgery although I was not informed. When I went to visit my sister, I asked the nurse when my sister was to have surgery on her hip and was informed that she had already had surgery!  I could not believe that they would let an 88 year old woman go through surgery without informing the family.  To make matters worse, the case manager called me today and told me my sister was to be discharged to a nursing rehab about 16:00. I told her that if I was unable to make it to the hospital by four that I would meet my sister at the rehab. I went to the rehab and waited there until 18:30. I finally called to find out where my sister went.............The nurse told me that the discharge had been canceled. Once again, nobody informed me or any family member. The direct care nurses were busy but caring. The staff at the nurse's station were rude. From my sister's point of view, she was looking forward to going to the nursing rehab, which says a lot.

First, I had three appointments back to back. This was beyond helpful, because I only had one trip to take. I was called three days before and reminded of preparations for each test, ie. stop taking calcium supplements a few days before, no deodorant, etc.
The technicians were quite friendly, knew what they were doing and I had absolutely no wait times from beginning to end!
What is quite important to me is the immediate feedback regarding tests while I am still there. As a nervous woman about this, it is important to me that I know the results the same day.
Also quite impressive, is the e-mail a patient receives regarding additional test results that may not be available that day. All one has to do is sign in to their and quot;Patient Portaland quot; with the supplied patient number and all test results are available for reading or printing for files.
Great job on the part of all the staff involved!

The emergency room wait was very long and they waited a long time to find an available bed to admit the patient. The care in the emergency room was good, although long wait between procedures. The communication from the time we entered the emergency room until paitent was admitted and discharged was very good. Several tests were run and although no problems were diagnoised, the doctors were through and the nurses were very attentive.

I went with my neighbor's daughter to the hospital. They did an excellent job with the billing issues. They hospitalized her for five days without having insurance. They are kind, attentive and professional.

Everything went great except she was an hour and a half behind. She is really popular because she is a good doctor.
