My husband and I initially went to Misha?s Cupcakes on a recommendation from my sister-in-law because she stated she loved their pre-made cupcakes.  We went and picked up a dozen mini cupcakes and they were pretty good.  My baby?s first birthday was coming up a week later and we decided to inquire about getting a custom made cake.  They gave us a price list and it didn?t seem too bad.  I had a design I found online and showed it to the employee.  She stated the pictured cake was made with fondant, but they could do something very similar with frosting.  She boasted about how they could do any design we wanted.  We decided later that night to order from Misha?s and returned the next day to place our order.

I again showed the employee the picture of the cake we wanted made (as well as a picture of my baby?s outfit for the party which matched the cake perfectly).  It was relatively simple with a cute tie, suspenders, and pants.  They asked that we email the photo to them so we did and they confirmed they received it before we left.  The lady we ordered with also drew the cake.  As she was drawing, I pointed out a few things that weren?t right.  She repeatedly told me, ?don?t worry about it? and ?I just suck at drawing, the cake will be awesome?.  I left feeling confident that they?d have the perfect cake waiting for us when we returned.

The morning of my baby?s party, my sister-in-law went to Misha?s to pick up our cake.  She saw it and thought it might be a problem but decided to bring it home anyway.  When I saw it, I was p*****.  It was nothing like what we ordered.  It looked like a 3rd grader made our order.  Even the handwriting looked like a little kid did it.  I couldn?t believe this was a ?professionally? made custom order cake!  Even though I was busy getting stuff ready for the party, I had to get this fixed.  We went straight to Misha?s.

We arrived and I told the first employee I was very unhappy with the cake.  She and several employees agreed it looked bad.  She called the manager from the back who apologized, but said she couldn?t do anything to fix it.  I was floored by this response and demanded that something be done.  She went to the back and made a call to her boss.  Her boss told her she would send someone out to the store to fix the cake, but couldn?t say when they would arrive.  My baby?s party was starting in an hour and I didn?t have time to wait for someone who could potentially take a long time to show up and potentially even longer to correct everything.  I told her this was unacceptable and demanded it be fixed immediately, but she said she could not do so.  I showed the picture of what we ordered to several customers and they all agreed that the cake looked nothing like the one I ordered.  The ?manager?, who has absolutely no authority to fix customer complaints, called her boss again who said she should refund $20 to us for the design fee.  That was ridiculous because I was completely unhappy with the cake and had paid nearly $90 for it.  I was not going to give them $70 for that piece of junk.  I continued making a scene and she again went to the back to make a phone call.  When she returned, she offered a full refund, but we had to leave the cake.  I was happy they were getting serious, but this still left me in a tough spot because the party, at this point, was starting in 15 minutes and I needed to get home.  Unhappy with my options and desperate for a cake, I asked if I could pay half for it.  She told me no ? the option was a full refund with no cake or we could keep the cake for $70.  I was p***** and let her know.  She threatened to call security if we didn?t leave.  I broke down crying because this is my baby?s first birthday and I had no cake.  I told her she ruined the centerpiece of the party and ruined everything I was looking forward to.  I took the refund and began to leave when my sister-in-law asked why they needed to keep the cake.  The manager stated it was because they were going to resell the cake.  We took the cake home and they were going to resell it?!?  I upset about the situation, but later realized the severity of what she?d said.  That?s most certainly illegal and we have filed a complaint with the Department of Agriculture (who we learned is responsible for bakeries).  Luckily my sister-in-law was very understanding about what this cake meant to me and after dropping me off at the party (which was already underway), she went out and bought a pre-made cake from Publix.

Bottom line, never order a cake from Misha?s.  They are amateurs and god forbid your order is as botched as mine, they don?t care about you at all.  They are heartless to your situation and getting them to remedy their wrong is a pain.  And then when you argue your case, which in my case took nearly an hour (mostly because of all the phone calls the ?manager? had to make), they threaten to call security on you.  Not to mention they apparently resell food that has left their store.  That?s gross and illegal.  I could not be more unhappy with what happened.
