    MILLENIUM CONTRACTORS CO
Javier turned what should have been an exciting time into our worst nightmare.  To say that he was extremely unprofessional, dishonest, and incompetent would be an understatement.  The following are some statements he made to us:  "I don't have to do squat!!" as he gestured towards his crotch;  "I know you're disappointed but I don't care why!";  "I know I said that I would finish those things, but I'm not!"  These were written down by me in his prescence immediately after he said them.
He sent us multiple back charges for mistakes that he made.  For example;  He was short 8 sheets of plywood (256 sq ft) in a 1230 square foot apartment;  He charged us a 75% mark up on lights he purchased without our approval;  We were charged more because he had to use longer screws in some areas;  We were charged more for "extra" trash removal (which we removed ourselves).  It was very obvious that his intentions were to give us a good price and then back charge us once the contract was signed.  In some instances he attempted to charge us duplicate for services that were already paid.  He also tried to charge us an inflated price that was not agreed upon.
When a "general contractor" makes mention of using duct tape as a tile flange, red flags should go up.  Or when he states that a refrigerator is not counter depth when the item description provided for him clearly states that it is, he should be fired.  Because of his incompetence we have a wall that is 8 inches longer than it should be, making the kitchen walkway very tight.  We have a toilet ordered to his specifications installed at an angle because it wouldn't fit properly.  We have closet doors that don't close, and loose, uneven door handles.  Our walls have cracks in them from poor drywall work.
He blatantly lied to us about multiple items he said he would do but did not.  This was confirmed when we contacted his subs to verify.  Somehow he convinced his subs to disregard us.  Some of these items include the tile edge of the balcony, backsplashes in the bathrooms, installation of bathroom wall cabinets, and closet barn door.  In the end, we had to hire someone else to finish the project and correct the poor quality of work we were left with.
We learned a lot about this industry from this process.  Hopefully this review prevents this experience from ever happening to someone else.  Javier Estrada is not someone with integrity nor is he a professional.  Please do not hire this person for your future home improvement projects.

Horrific experience, the wrong materials were used, the work was not done well and they didn't even tile in the corner of the rooms but then reattached the baseboards!  We had to have everything ripped up and redone by another company.  They always had an excuse why it wasn't their fault or couldn't be done properly.

    Sanmar Construction Group
I had initially contracted with Sean Lily Roofin who left me with a roof covered in blue tarp because I would not agree with their change orders that would have tripled the cost of the initially agreed upon price.  I went as far as to speak with a county inspector to confirm my suspicion that the change orders Sean Lily insisted upon were unnecessary.  Although the inspector did not visit the site, he did state over the telephone that the explanation given to me by Sean Lily was not a reasonable basis for the change order.  He suggested I find another roofer.  I did.  SanMar Roofing came to the rescue.  Sanmar completed the work Sean Lily had abandoned.  They took pictures of before and after to help me document the facts should I want to take Sean Lily to court.  I wish I had, since Sean Lily stole my deposit after abandoning the job.  Sanmar Roofing did a great job cleaning up the mess left behind by others.  They set a price and stuck to it.  They arrived when promised and cleaned up behind themselves before they left.  I am so very thankful that I had the good fortune of finally finding a reputable, helpful, professional roofer.  Thank you, SanMar

    Tom Southern - Carpenter
It went very well. I replaced a refrigerator with a smaller unit, which left an opening in the cabinetry above. Tom installed a single unit cabinet along with the existing units. It went very well. The new unit looks like it has always been there.

Do not hire this contractor. He refused to provide us with a written contract which we requested. He brought subcontractors that damaged our property and refused to repair or pay for the damage. He left the job and we had to manage completion of our home.

    Brown Development LLC
It started well but then slowed way down and stopped. It is four months late. Subcontractors have filed liens against my parents and Brown Development LLC has announced it is ceasing business. He under bid major portions of the job and did not pay his subcontractors going back to January 2013. This person and company was a disaster and I do not want him to use you to find any more victims.

    Shear Construction & Management, LLC
Gary Shear was phenomenal start to finish. He came and spent a lot of time to put together the initial quote. He was very helpful with ideas and all of the promises he made were kept. What is differentiating, is that he has his own company and employees, so they do all their own work and literally had 5-6 guys working on our house everyday. We've renovated before (using a different contractor) and the most frustrating thing is to visit the renovation to find very little progress made. That never happened with Gary. His job is to get your work done so he can move on to his next project. Our other two quotes were 4-5 months and Gary's was 10 weeks. We did a ton of work and it was amazing that he got it done on time! Also, Gary never pushed the truth, was always reachable and available, organized and never pushed for money. This is extremely rare for contractors in S. Fla!
In terms of quality of work, the work was top notch and thorough. If we didn't like how something looked or was done, they would redo it without any hint of opposition. His team is trustworthy and skilled.
Gary will admit that he isn't the cheapest (maybe 10% or so more), but trust me that is negligible, bc the money you will save by getting the job done faster and the hassle factor, make it a no brainer decision.
I can't emphasize how great it was to work with Shear Construction - they will do our next house and are already coming in to do some more work in the kitchen.
