    Tampa Lift Chair Showroom, Inc.
The Largo showroom is dirty, dim and very small. To begin with at just after 11:00 am when we arrived, there was a sign on the door saying out to lunch, please call XXX (number). We called, he said he'd be back in about 45 minutes. We said we wouldn't wait, so he said he'd return. When he pulled up he went straight inside, ignoring us as we sat outside waiting, and snatched the sign off the door. We went inside. He was sitting at a computer at the back of the room and totally ignored us. We spoke to him and told him what we were looking for - he immediately took us to 2 recliners to try, the front of the left arm being noticeably dirty. They had advertised buy one chair and get the second one 50% off. That turned out to be ONLY if you paid for white glove delivery & setup ($150 per chair). He was wearing baggy shorts and a wrinkled teeshirt like he had been working outside, his hair looked like he had just gotten up, and he plopped himself down in one of the lift chairs across from us. He then proceeded to tell us the fabric we had chosen was an extra $200 per chair. The sample swatches were dated August of 2013. He gave us the impression we were taking up his valuable time and he just wanted us to leave so he could get back out to lunch. We decided we'd taken enough abuse from him, told him so and walked out.

    Mobile Physician Services

They usually come out about four times a year. We have not been disappointed yet. If we have a problem they have a nurse on duty who will reference us to a nurse practitioner or doctor to take care of the problem. We just pick up the phone and call them. Their receptionist is very friendly, helpful and cooperative. They make sure we get the person we need to handle our problem, whether it is reordering prescriptions that they patient is taking. They are right there for us. They cover a wider area, but typically they get someone here the same day of our phone call. I can't get that kind of service from the doctor I go to. Anybody I get on the phone is usually cooperative and helpful. They are outgoing as far as providing the care we need when we explain what is going on.

    A Place For Mom
Not all Memory Care Facilities are alike; they gave me 5 locations to check out. I made the appointments myself; my preference. And traveled to the other city to talk with the locations. One was perfect and that is where I placed my very elderly mother, who had been diagnosed with Alzheimers.

Dad was reluctant to move out of the house but once they toured the place and had lunch there dad was a convert. We thought they had been busy before but between their outside social calendar and what they had going on inside their complex they barely had a spare moment. Bottom line is that my parents were busy and happy there. They were there for four years
When mom became ill, the staff was there for us but not intrusive. They were all fabulous. When mom died dad needed more assistance so we moved him next door to Regal Palms 4th floor. and quot; The Palmsand quot; made the transition and move so simple for dad and all of us. They took care of pretty much everything.
I can't say enough about the family at Regal Palms 4th floor. Some people might call them 'staff' but they were more like extended family. We never worried about dad being there because they were so good with him. He was happy and busy. They did a great job of keeping him involved in such a variety of activities but also letting him have 'down time' when he wanted it. Dads level of care was set up and they went above and beyond. I truly believed they loved him. Dad was there for three years.
In a heartbeat I would recommend Royal Palms Independent Living and Regal Palms Assisted Living.

    Suncoast Hospice
As far as I'm concerned it's the best hospice in the world. To them it really is all about the patient...they are very oriented towards the patient. I would recommend them to anyone who needs hospice, and I would use them myself if I needed to.

    Care Ride Inc
The staff and the service are fantastic. They are professional, respectful and prompt. We can call them at our time and if they are available they will come. They respect our privacy. They are very communicative and very caring. We have been with them for eight years.

    Baycare Homecare
Their service was fair, but they could have improved their communication. I felt that their supervisor on the case was a little brainless, the nurses that came out were fine, and the patient care tech that came out was excellent. The scheduling supervisor couldn't get the nurse's duty correct, so there were scheduling mishaps with the nurses and the techs.

They are wonderful people. They delivered his prescriptions. They took care of him. They did in home visits 3 times a week. The doctor would visit because he was bed ridden and unable to be transported. They were extremely friendly, kind, and compassionate in such a hard time. They don't just abandon you at the end. They called and checked on me and offered counseling. They are angels disguised as humans. We could not have had dad at home without them.

    Baycare Homecare
Wife's complications from hip replacement required IV antibiotics and 6 months of wound care.and physical therapy. Included training me how to change the IV applications, and eventually wound care. Very competent people did both the work and the training. Physical therapist was very patient, encouraging and helpful.

Also, from the home health care side, we had daily help from a Baycare aide who was extaordinarily skilled, empathetic, intelligent and caring until she had to move away to tend a family member. We then employed someone directly for that purpose,
but have used Baycare for times whe she was not available and at night when I was unavailable because of short term illnesses, recuperation and etc. Uniformly the Baycare employees are friendly sensitive and well trained.

They took care of her for 52 days. When she passed they sent her blanket that she was holding when she died to the family. I had a great experience dealing with this company. They were very accomodating and were there for the family even after the patient was gone. I would highly recommend them to deal with sick and dying people and their families. Also, if you are looking for a charity, this is one that would be good to us.
