  • We UNFORTUNATELY hired Creative Outdoor Living/Brate Aluminum and Construction to undertake our multi-project home expansion. We hired this company to paver our driveway, sidewalk, front porch, and back porch. Also, we hired them to create our back patio and paver it, enclose the back porch into a sunroom, and add a fire pit and outdoor kitchen with appliances. Even though the driveway, sidewalk, and front porch could have started without a permit, this company decided not to do anything until after the back-patio permit was completed. STAY AWAY!!! We received feedback from the owner stating financial and staffing issues. They are in a restructuring mode as they pick up the pieces. BE SURE to read the other Google and Yelp reviews regarding Brate businesses Creative Outdoor Living/Brate Aluminum and Construction. A complaint has been filed with the Better Business Bureau. We are now pursuing legal action against Creative Outdoor Living/Brate Aluminum and Construction. We signed our contract on March 24. We were told when we signed the contract it would take about 8 weeks to pull the permit and then about 4 weeks to complete the entire project. It has now been 7 weeks from when the permit was approved and we only have the driveway and front porch completed and the footer poured of our project. We have the back-porch pavers, the sun room enclosure, the patio pavers, the screen porch, the fire pit, the lights, the gas lines, the electrical, and the outdoor kitchen remaining. Nothing has been done in over two weeks (no notification as to why) and there is a big pile of dirt in our backyard that is an eyesore to us and our neighbors. Out of 28 work days since June 12, someone has worked on the project only 8 days and we signed the contract 4 months ago. According to the Brate Built Construction website, this company has been in business for three generations and the service pledge states the following: - We will treat you with respect throughout your contact with our company. (Not returning phone calls does not show respect) - We will call you back if you leave a message. (Numerous phone calls and texts have gone unanswered) - We will send you a courtesy reminder or call you before we come for our appointment. (Never received any phone calls or notifications) - We will follow up with you after you receive your estimate. (After we signed the contract, we had to contact someone after 9 weeks to get a status update) - We will keep you informed of the project schedule. (This has not happened and you cannot give us a project schedule) - We will provide you with copies of our insurance and licensing at your request. - We will employ crew members who are properly trained and behave in a professional manner. (The excavation crew demolished the community sidewalk in which Creative Outdoor Living/Brate Aluminum and Construction had to replace.) - We will have our team leaders introduce themselves to you before they begin work. (We were only introduced to the Project Manager Maurice. None of the other team members working on our site introduced themselves.) - We will have our team members review the work with you at the end of the day. (This never happened until the project was deemed completed by the project manager and we communicated many issues that still needed to be resolved before that phase of the project could be considered completed. These issues are still outstanding.) - We will clean up the job site before we leave. (Fill dirt was left in our neighbor’s yard and not cleaned up properly. There is base material and stacked pavers on our back porch so we cannot use it. The irrigation that was ripped out of the ground was not capped off. Some footer boards are still up, and there are empty soda bottles and extra wood pieces in the middle of the footer area. There is a pile of dirt and plywood behind the footer that is killing our grass. A column the back side of the house was damaged during footer construction. The cement at the curb/base of the driveway has been chipped and not repaired in numerous places.) - We will ask you for feedback on our products and workmanship. (This writeup addresses this statement.) - We will provide you with a two-year warranty on workmanship and honor it steadfastly. - We will always thank you for your trust and confidence! As the owner of the company, we expected Creative Outdoor Living/Brate Aluminum and Construction to be working almost non-stop to make sure all the projects are being completed as soon as possible and to the client’s satisfaction. We expected to have someone work on our project almost every day until it was completed, but that was not the case. In the owner’s email, there is not even an indication of when someone will even be out to work on the project. We are beyond frustrated and have given Creative Outdoor Living/Brate Aluminum and Construction plenty of time to finish our project.

  • I called to get an estimate to make my screened porch into a sunroom. The earliest appointment available was 3 weeks away. Then, the day before the appointment a lady called me to change the time from 4:30pm to 6:30pm, which is dinner time so I said no. When I mentioned that my 4 year old daughter needed my attention because my husband wouldn't be home yet, she proceeded to tell me that it's their policy to have both of us present for the estimate because a lot of times they end up having to come back to go over everything with the husband. I explained that I choose everything and we had just done a full gut job kitchen renovation where I picked out everything & my husband didn't care. She refused to let the appointment stand & I angrily told her to cancel it because we wouldn't be doing business with them. In this day & age it's ridiculous that a company won't do business directly with the wife. What if I was a single mom? It's absurd. Total waste of time

  • Mr. Devon Lynch and his company, Mr. Screen Repair are truly a top-notch and professional company. From the beginning with the quotes and review of what to be done, to the final product.....everything was done with great attention to detail and I understood very clearly what was to be done and all of my options/choices. Devon was very professional and thorough. They arrived exactly on time and finished in the time frame projected.  The finished product is exceptional and I could not be more pleased with the quality of the work and workmanship. It was obvious there was great attention to detail. To put the icing on the cake, when I tried to tip them and left extra in my check to them, they sent my extra money back, thinking I had overpaid and stated that. Needless to say, I was so very pleased and made arrangements to be sure that my tip was received as a thank you for a job well done!! Not many companies are this honest!! Many would have not questioned it and just kept the extra. Excellent job and I have no hesitation in recommending this company to others.

  • The work performed by Dave's crew was outstanding. During the initial look for a contractor I interviewed and received estimates from 6 companies. Dave's estimate was app. $4,000.00to $6,000.00  less than the highest and in line with the others. There were the normal delays expected with getting multiple permits and inspection associated with doing business in Hillsborough County. There were also delays getting the cultured stone and special order door unit we wanted. Also, during the time the work was being done we had two trips scheduled. Dave arranged his work around these many distractions with no complaints. We have had multiple contractors do work on our home and Dave is without a doubt the best and most honest contractor I know. I would recommend him and his company for any remodel project. The bottom line is his crew took the architect's work and improved on it resulting in a project which not only enhances the appearance of the property but more importantly my wife loves. Thanks Dave for a job above and beyond what we expected.

  • After calling around various places it was amazing how few are willing to make screens.  I guess its just not that profitable for them.  Anderson Aluminum were happy to do it, and were so pleasant to deal with.  I did the job in a couple stages, to make sure my measuring was right, and each time I went by they were more than pleasant.  And they had the screens done sooner than their estimate.  The price was very fair.  I wrote $200 above, though I can't remember the exact total - I think it was around there.  I had about 7 screens made in all.
Oh, AND on my last visit I saw a cat in a cage in a side office so asked if that was they office cat.  The man said that they have strays that live around the property, so they catch them and get them fixed, let them recuperate from the surgery in the office, then release them.  How wonderful is that?!  They've got my business for sure.  : )

  • The completed room is great. We had problems with a previous job permit that was not completed and Tom helped bring that to closure which delayed his work but he hung in there with us. Tom worked graciously with me and brought several samples of solar screen for the east side of the room. The roof of the room is insulated (great for keeping down heat in the room); a fan beam was added to the roof so we could install a fan, the super solar screen on the east cuts down on the intense morning heat while regular screen was used on the N. side (2 different screen densities is not an esthetic problem) , a second door was added on one side. Tom designed the room for maximum height by working off the facia. For every step of the design Tom was gracious and helpful. His price was very reasonable and his son and his crew did a wonderful job on the installation and clean up.

  • I called and they responded right away. We scheduled a time and day for them to come and two guys came out on time. They were polite and quick. I couldn't believe they were done so fast. They didn't leave a mess and never had to come into my home.

  • Ed fixed a portion of a screen at our rental home and replaced a screen at our new home. The price was reasonable, the work was done timely, and the quality was excellent! He fixed a 5x5 section on the rental with regular screen and replaced the screen on an existing 20x10 screen enclosure with a PET screen to prevent cats from clawing holes in the screen.

  • Tom and his crew did an amazing job.  He always kept us updated on the status of the project.  Once the project got under way, his crew worked late every day to finish ahead of time.  Very knowledgeable and prfessional!  I would recommend to everyone.  Our screen porch was completed in less than two weeks.  Amazing!

  • They were excellent and like $5,000 cheaper than anybody off of Angie's List that we have contacted. The sunroom that they built for us was large and so their pricing was fair. I called like four or five different people and they were by far the cheapest. They also did a tremendous job. Everybody that comes here including our neighbors that came here loved it. The quality of their work was excellent. We had pouring rain here for three or four days and that was the test and not a drop of water came into the house. My wife and I retired recently and we do classes and exercising so our time has been limited and then all this construction but I will want to do a letter through the internet and send it to Angie's List and to our Homeowners Association of the quality of this company and I am going to recommend that if the people in the subdivision want to come to the house and look at it, they are welcome to.
