Hardware Store reviews in Bradenton

When we started looking into businesses to replace our windows and doors and add shutters to our house, we were met with many different choices. However, what stood out for us was the family atmosphere and ultimately the business demeanor that we found in Armored Dade. From the initial phone call to the meeting with Mr. Perkins to give us a quote for our new items, it was as if it were meant to be. I did not feel obligated to hire this company- more like proud to do so. I even looked into reviews from other homeowners and realized that this coming could be trusted but only to put in new windows, doors, and add shutters, but, to be trusted in my house with my family - and children- there. So thank you Armored Dads for the amazing Windows, doors and shutters and for also having a sense of family within your business.

Took Lowes 3 times to get the door and frame ordered even though they had the correct measurements from the beginning. We had to change the style door being requested because it was not available through them once they put the correct measurements into their system. We had to slightly downgrade the door style to one they could order and get delivered.

I saw their ad in The Home Mag for a free estimate on windows and called them. First, Jon said that he could come by that evening at 5 PM. Then, he said that he will call me back once he gets back to the store to see if he should come or his partner since his partner apparently lived closer or had business closer to my house in E. Bradenton. So, he called back and after a lot of unnecessary chit-chat about his partner, his wife and their previous jobs at previous locations around the county, said that he had been reminded that he can't come at 5PM and his partner couldn't either. Then, he proceeded to supposedly make an appointment for the following week for their so-called free estimate, BUT instead of making the damned appointment, he made a complete fool of himself, talking himself and me out of the free estimate by basically closing the sale (except without making the sale....of course, no one makes a sale over the phone for windows....but apparently, he wasn't interested in selling me any windows which defeats the whole purpose of being in this business....but I guess there are crazier things an people in this world than this guy) Here's how the conversation went over the phone: So, he asked me how many windows I want replaced. I told him two in the bathroom over the tub. He said that the price for 2 windows like that would be $3500. We've done enough windows for me to be able to guesstimate the size and type of windows that people need in their homes so if you are OK with that price then we can make the appointment for the free estimate. If you want something cheaper than that then there's no point in making that appoint..........My jaw dropped over the phone....I should rest my case right here, right? But, I'm going to give you the whole truth so you realize how absurd these people are and how you should avoid dealing with them altogether for your own sanity! I told him that it just didn't make sense to me that he provided me with such a high estimate for only 2 windows over the phone without knowing the size and type of window I wanted. And, that I had had another free estimate by a very reputable company for the best windows in FL for 1/3 of that price. Then, he asked me about the size of the windows. Let me remind you that he was so cocky in the beginning that he was the "know it all" about everything I needed and wanted but I guess my statement put him in his right place. So, I told him that I had 2 windows made of block glasses that I wanted removed and regular pane windows installed in their place. I told him that one of the windows was about 3 blocks by 8 and the second one which is larger is about 8 blocks by 8 blocks. Then, he said, "Oh OK, so your windows are smaller than what I had envisioned, usually with 2 windows above the tub we have 2 arched windows or basically larger windows." I told him so his first claim was proven wrong! He really didn't and couldn't have knows the size of my windows without having seen and measured them. He paused for less than a second and proceeded, "Well, I still stand for the estimate I gave you. The price of those two windows will still be around $3500." I told him that he was running a "Free Window...Buy 2 Get 3rd Free" promotion which meant a 33% discount. The other reputable company had given me the same discount as people who needed 3 windows and I couldn't see why they wouldn't either. He said, well, the price of your two windows will not be $2500 if that's what you are asking. I told reminded him that he had been proven wrong about the size of the windows so why was he adamant about the "type" of window I would be choosing. I asked him what type of window he was quoting me on, on a scale of cheapest to most expensive. He said that he was quoting me on the upper medium priced range windows. I asked him how much does he guesstimate my windows cost at the medium range price. He replied that he didn't know unless I saw the different kinds of the windows and gave him the exact one I liked. So, again I proved his "know it all" claim WRONG! Now I rest my case! Would you go shopping at such a window place??? I know I wouldn't. I hung up on him after telling him that as an award-winning sales person, I have never seen a salesman, much less a partner in a business, talk his customer out of buying what he was selling like he just did on the phone in about 15 minutes time! I told him that he obviously didn't want to make a sale or make any efforts at making a sale much less serving his community with respect to windows! He started BSing again and I hung up on him!

profselfme8 out of 10 times I 've been to this Lowes, their sales and customer service associates have been lazy, poorly behaving, uncaring, downright rude and adverserial, dismissive, completely irresponsive, and basically lousy and incompetent. I have had only 2 guys who helped me in the grill/yard equipment departments with a grill and pressure washer who were helpful, nice and knowledgeable. The rest of the time whether it was at customer service because I had to return something, or in the paint department, the flooring department, everyone was basically so unpleasant, incompetent and nasty that I have decided not to ever again go to Lowes. The Home Depot right down the street on University is so much better in every respect, it's just not worth trying to give this Lowes location another chance. So many times they have screwed up and behaved badly that I am just fed up with them. I called the flooring department the other day because no one was there to help me there the day before when I had stopped by to look at some hardwood floors. After the 3rd trial, the phone call ringing hundreds of times in the flooring department, no one picking it up, the call going to customer service and getting rerouted again and again to flooring, eventually Rob answers. I gave him the detailed info on the floor I was interested it and asked him to get back to me about the specifics of it and installation price per sq. ft. for 2000 sq. ft. of flooring. He took the info down and said he was with a customer (10AM on a Wed. in mid Feb 2015), and he would get the info I needed after that customer and get back to me. It is now mid March and I still haven't heard back from Rob...Aggravating! The paint department employee looked at me as if I am a Marcian asking about the type of caulk called "painter's caulk" which I couldn't find on their shelves at all and had looked for it up and down their isle 3-4 times. She didn't have any customers when I approached her and she just sent me back there, "It's right over there on the left at the end of the isle" making me feel stupid for not finding it after 3 times, to look again by myself instead of coming and helping me find it. When I came back to tell her I didn't see any caulk marked as "painter's caulk" where she sent me, she had 1 customer talking to her. She had me wait for over 30 minutes, taking one paint customer after next with their paint orders and didn't give a d*** to come and get the d*** caulk for me. Eventually, I asked for a manager who came and still couldn't find the caulk I needed. Instead of the caulk, he suggested I use Frog Tape to get the straight sharp edges on my textured walls. Well, that didn't work and I ended up going to Home Depot for Painter's Caulk and returning the Frog Tape to Lowes. There are 2-3 regular customer service ladies there. Two of them are elderly and 1 of those two has a thinner face than the other one. The one with the thinner face is helpful and nice most of the times. But, OMG, the one with the round face, she is nasty! She talked to me in a tone of voice as if a mean and nasty grandma would talk to a brat grandson or granddaughter for not having a receipt while the item still had the original packaging and the Lowes price tag on it. She said, "YOU MUST ALWAYS BRING YOUR RECEIPT!" scolding me like a correctional office (not that I have ever had one but I have seen how they talk to criminals on TV). They usually have 1 check out lane manned by a cashier and their self-checkouts are way too sensitive to be operated by customers. I have checked out at other places but the self-check out at Lowes gets me and every other customer stuck every d*** time. Their lines are always long because they only have 1 lane manned during the week. I just believe that they the management at this store is extremely poor or they wouldn't hire all these nasty people and not have any oversight on them. Even after I brought this up with the manager, telling him that I wasn't going to come to their store any more and would instead go to Home Depot, he acted as if he didn't give a d***. If Lowes corporate cares about their reputation, they would do a complete overhaul of the staff at this store and ask the customers to vote for who should stay and who should go. I'd be happy to provide names of those who have been helpful and nice. But, the majority including management are just incompetent and shouldn't be in customer service/retail business any ways. In contrast and comparison, it truly is a joy shopping at the Home Depot in our neighborhood on University. They are ALL helpful, responsive, knowledgeable and professional. I can't think of 1 shopping trip there when I didn't have a positive experience with them. They stand behind their products and customers and make sure that I leave with what I need as soon as possible and get the information and product that I need. They go above and beyond educating, guiding, helping and taking care of any and all needs I've had at their store. They make all kinds of gestures to make sure I don't leave there unhappy. If they are out of a cheap filter, they will sell one the next grade up, 3 times more expensive, for the same price. If I have anything to return, without a receipt, as long as it is in its original packaging and home depot price tag, they refund me/issue a gift card with no hassles. ALL of them have smiles on their faces at all time and make me feel welcomed and appreciated as a customer. So, why would I ever again want to go to the Lowes in my neighborhood? No reason unless I am CRAZY, which I am not.

The day that I spoke to their representative about what I wanted, he saved me $600.00 by checking on the work this contractor was doing. He went outside to speak to their crew and came in to tell me that they were going to tell me that they would need to add this amount to the job. He recommended that I refuse the additions because the sales person from the other company had had no less than three opportunities to include this amount in the quote and had failed to do so and that it was a cost that I should not accept. I described what I wanted and why. The representative from Mr Build asked that he be allowed to take the information home overnight and to see if he could come up with a design that would give me all that I wanted. He not only designed a room to my requirements, he gave me a better, more appealing design and in the range that I could afford to pay. He also assisted me with other aspects of dealing with other contractors to help me get the best complete and final results. The design approval phase took somewhat longer than I might have liked but the design has to be approved by the state for hurricane compliance. Once the approval from the state was received, the building permits and construction began. I appreciated that the permits were on site and visible before any work began, and once the work began, it proceeded with a speed that was truly impressive. The workers were polite. They played music on a radio while they worked but you had to be in the area to hear it. Inside my home, I heard nothing. The workers were in a pleasant mood and respectful in every way during the construction. They cleaned the work area every night before they departed and I mean cleaned. No debris and the area was swept and no debris, tools, or materials were left strewn about to cause problems. For the time the crew was here, they behaved as friends to me and to my husband. Although the screen room is for my husband to enjoy and I vow to keep it from being cluttered (which is my natural inclination), I would be proud for any one to see this room and would know that in their minds they too would be imagining the possibilities this room offers. Additionally, unlike some projects, I would not be embarrassed to tell them how much the room cost because this room was worth every penny and more. Value for your money and pride of ownership go with the jobs this company completes for you. I still see various people from Mr Build. They are like good friends to us now and I am hiring them to replace the doors on my home. This will complete the remodels and additions to my home for some time but I still call them for recommendations of contractors and service providers for landscaping, etc. It's really good to find a contractor you can trust and respect and hope to call friend because they didn't let you down in any area of the job.
