Home Builder reviews in Apopka

This review actually echoes many of the legitimate reviews already posted, and I would also give negative stars if it were possible. Park Square Homes does not do business with integrity, even when given the opportunity to do so. They operate with complete disregard for their customers, yes us the buyers, and their service standards are a disgrace. Their fail-safe is to make sure you give them a large deposit up front, so you're less likely to walk away from the deal because you're likely to lose your funds, and you have already waited an extended period of time for your home to be completed. I relocated from another state and had temporary accommodations, so I needed to be in a home by November, which I related to the sales agent; this was in August 2018. The agent showed me lots that he said would be ready by that time, the latest December, so I proceeded to sign the contract at make my deposit, over $8000. After multiple delays, and lack of appropriate and timely communication about these delays on the builder's part, I eventually spoke with their sales area manager. Not only was she dismissive and disregarding, she was also rather condescending and spoke as if she and Park Square homes were doing me a favor and "letting" me buy one of their homes. I subsequently wrote a 3-page letter to their President/COO, detailing my negative experience, but that got no where, the issues just continued. I even included the owner and his son on subsequent email communications which I initiated, with no or delayed responses and no appropriate actions on any of their parts to properly address the issues, and no follow up from anyone on the leadership team. I am now at the time to close and still there are outstanding items they are telling me I have to wait after closing to have addressed. Their homes are aesthetically pleasing and attractively priced, but know what you're getting into before you decide to buy from them! I have reached out to the news media as well, so that as many people as possible will learn about their shoddy business practices. Update, 4/6/19: This is an update to my previous review: So, I finally got a response from the VP, to an email originally sent in January; this came a couple days after I did a BBB review. He was asking how he could "help" me. I reiterated what was already in the initial email thread, as well as the fact that the home was still incomplete and not cleaned when we closed a couple weeks ago. His response was to tell me to make a list and he would get with his team. I provided my initial home inspection report, the punch lists from the first and final walkthroughs, and the final re-inspection report. It's been a week and no response. Once again they demonstrate their lack of integrity

They were great. Did what they said they would do when they said they would do it and did excellent work at the price quoted. Could not have been better. They had done more extensive work to the same office 20 years earlier. Glad they were there when we needed them.

He did not pull permits for projects requiring work.  He did several roofs after the hurricane and did not pull permits even though he was expressly told to and had assured us he had.  We found out he had not when we required proof of past inspection.  1/2 the roofs did not pass inspection.
    Inaccurate billing.
When we refused payment for work billed and not completed he filed a lien against the property.
The contractor is unethical and unreliable.

The work got done, and in the end things turned out okay, but the process was maddening. George is very nice and professional, but he was not at the site on a daily basis. He often sent his son instead. As a consequence, work that some of the subcontractors did was not checked and problems occured. The drywall crew covered up an internet outlet and an electrical plug, which was not discovered by George at all. We found the problem after the flooring had gone down, the walls had been painted, and we were nearing completion. The electrical guys found the outlets when they came for final details, and the drywall had to be cut. An outlet for a ceiling fan was not centered in the room and had to be moved. The painters were the sloppiest  people I have ever come across. I have given a review on them separately because I was so disappointed. I'm still finding drops of paint that they splattered on my wood floors. A wall had to be moved after it was put up because George did not remember that we had wanted a closet. Little consideration was given to the fact that we had to live in the space that was being worked in. I was the one who had to clean up the mess at the end of the day. They used my husband's tools and equipment throughout the process, which was irritating to my husband, and quite unprofessional.
About the only positives were the flooring subcontractor, who did a fantastic job installing the wood floor, and the electrical guys, who did a great job.

After having built many homes in the past, this experience went very well. They build a very efficient, green home. If you are looking for a builder, the honesty and integrity of this business is a huge plus.

    Universal Roof & Contracting
My experience with Universal Roofing & Construction Group was very good. They are very nice people to work with. The owner and his son were on to the job quite often and whenever we pointed out a concern or a problem with their workers, they corrected it. We had few little issues regarding them covering some rotten wood, which was discovered. They came back immediately, supervised here while the job was going on, called the guys who did and corrected it. They not only placed the roof but they also did some new reconstruction and redesigned two low parts or sections of the roof. I will recommend them and tell everyone that this is one company they can use. My husband went there quite often and he just felt they were very attentive. We also had a subcontractor doing some other stuff for us and he kept an eye open too, since my husband couldn't be there during the project. There were some subcontractors who were not always here when they said they going to be. I hope we won't be using them again but if required I will use them again in the future.

This experience has been devastating on many levels. Speaking financially, emotionally, and physically, these last two years while working with Mark Keller of Keller Construction have caused great damage. We are presently letting the court settle this issue. It is unfortunate that the construction laws have yet to be written in support of the owners. It is more unfortunate that the laws allow builders such as Mark Keller to continue working and possibly ruin another family's life. For a builder such as Keller, this is only business and tax-deductible....for our family, this was suppose to be our future...our dream home. Although there is little that can be done to help our situation due to the "CONTRACT" which Keller uses to protect himself and we so unwisely signed, it is my hope that this information will save the lives of some other unsuspecting family. My advice...Run the other direction!
