Our home addition turned out awesome! The project was very well managed and organized and went as planned from the beginning. Everyone we dealt with along the way was very pleasant, responsive and thorough. We couldnt be happier and would highly recommend Golden Hammer.

They were reallyabout their own convenience. They said they could do it, but they wanted to do both bathrooms at the same time. They said they wouldput a porta-potty in our yard. They saidit would be better if we moved out, but if we wanted (to stay) we would not have a bathroom. It was just all about they wanted to get in with all their guys and do all the work at one time. They really weren't concerned about how it affectedus. We were notvery pleased with them. The quote was pretty detailed. We did not go with them. They probablydo good work, but we were not impressed with the quote. It was high and it wasvery inconvenient the way they wanted to do the work. *Based on the estimate, not actual work.

In the beginning, we were happy with the service, but as the project went on we started to have more and more issues. They would turn up late, they tried to install a cabinet that was clearly damaged (which they eventually replaced) they damaged items during install (the entire interior of the sink base has huge gouges in it, which they insisted was "normal" and just a part of installing granite - totally not the case, as Lowe's did my in-law's kitchen and it was flawless) They also broke the granite in two places and glued it back together. They claimed that it was "natural fissures" in the stone, but those areas are now green - note, my granite is light golds with brown/ cranberry spots. Sadly, that is not the worse part of my experience. About 2 years after our kitchen was installed, we started to notice a crack along the front of the sink. It has now opened a huge gap that is actually loose. I will now have to replace my counter tops, costing me several thousand dollars and more of my time. Do NOT use these people, they have NO IDEA what they are doing.

Everything turned out wonderfully!  The kitchen looks brand new.  Art Eckroth chooses only the best of the best to be his subcontractors.  They are artisans and craftsmen. They strive for perfection and customer satisfaction.  There were delays, or course, because of scheduling conflicts, things not arriving in a timely manner, even a sudden but necessary retirement of one of the major subcontractors, but these things are to be expected.  Once all the "ducks were in a row," things went rather quickly.  Art always kept me informed about where things stood and who would come on what day.  The prices were competitive but well worth every cent.  I was so fortunate to find this company on Angie's List .  I cannot recommend A and M Restoration Corporation and Art Eckroth highly enough.

    R W Eddy Enterprises Inc

Job took twice as long as promised (and then some waiting for doors to be installed/never were). Rob Eddy was untruthful and unrealistic about the cost and scope of work for this job. This caused me to miss two weeks of work instead of one. I was also told some work could be done on weekend, to save time missed from work, and it wasn't. Rob Eddy showed up on the job more than once without the proper or correct tools and materials to proceed with work. Granite was installed with incorrect pitch leaning towards the bathroom floor instead of inside the shower, allowing water to puddle on granite then run down the curb and corner of wall onto the bathroom floor. Large gap between granite and wall that had to be temporarily plugged to prohibit leakage from damaging wall and floor of bathroom. Rob Eddy personally set the granite (incorrectly), failed to caulk and seal the job properly, and also left the job without the shower door being installed. Upon demand, he was paid in full in advance (of the shower door install) for the job and failed to return (after several attempts to contact him) when the special ordered shower doors were received to install them. Job was incorrectly done and incomplete. Now the door (including large stationary glass) needs to be removed to fix the granite issue (at additional cost) and then reinstalled again (at additional cost). I already had to pay another company to install the door because Rob Eddy refused to do so, after receiving his payment in full. So I am left with a shower that is not functional without my bathroom floor flooding, because of the incorrect pitch on the granite.

This job took much longer than promised, much more expensive than I was told, and was done incorrectly and not even completed. I would never recommend Rob Eddy for any type of work to anyone. He is unprofessional, unprepared, unreliable and untrustworthy in his work. There were multiple delays and dilemmas due to his work ethic and business practices, or lack thereof.

Their cabinet refacing and resurfacing is fabulous. It's good that it's a non-toxic product with no smell. They did a beautiful job; it's very pretty. It was just great. They contracted the whole thing. They used sub-contractors. A lot of it was subcontracted. I would definitely use them again in the future.

Let me first say my husband and I are serial remodelers and we have done several similar projects. This was by far our best experience! Shawn and Drew were fantastic to work with throughout the project and very easy to reach by phone, text and email.
They were extremely helpful during the design phase as they truly listened to our wants and needs. They offered great ideas and were genuinely interested in making our home our dream home. We were constantly updated with schedule and pictures of the progress (as we were not yet living in Gainesville).
They have a great team of workers, everyone was extremely kind and helpful. Several issues from previous owners A/C work were discovered by the crew during the renovation. We immediately received pictures via email and a phone call to discuss the problem. My husband commented that it would have been very easy and convenient for them to ignore this problem and cover it up. He was really impressed that they took the time to point this out and go above and beyond to fix this problem that would have cost us more money in the future had it not been take care of.
The quality of the work was excellent everything turned out better than we could have imagined. My husband was amazed how clean and organized the house was kept and blown away with the attention to details.
These guys were so polite and professional.  I never write reviews and can't say enough about Golden Hammer!

    The Hernacki Company
First, the bathroom. The Hernacki Company removed the old vanity, bathtub and toilet. They then installed all new tile,
both floor and walls. New electrical wiring to accommodate the new lighting and GFI outlet. Installed a new toilet,
bathtub and vanity, and painted the walls. It is beautiful. Everything is modern, looks and performs perfectly!
Next, the kitchen. This involved totally gutting the old kitchen, removing old appliances and old, old formica
cabinets. I told Mr Hernacki that I wanted lots of bright light in my new kitchen, and so, he did a custom designed ceiling
including two separate lighting schemes using efficient, cool halogen lights. This went beyond what I had hoped for
and I couldn't be more pleased. The job involved doing a total rewire of the electrical circuits and also involved a rather
nasty surprise when Mr Hernacki discovered that one of the walls was home to a huge ant colony. He efficiently
dispatched them, repaired the old damage. Again, new tile was installed, a new ceiling fan,  new countertop, cabinets and
new appliances. As I said, a total remodel. I was consulted about possible changes and/or improvements which
I hadn't thought of, such as having several new electrical outlets, and having light/fan controls at each entry door.
They suggested some custom touches in the floor tile which really adds to the whole effect.
Again, a lovely job! The kitchen did take a little bit longer than planned, mostly due to a problem with getting my
new countertops delivered from the vendor. Even so, the work itself is beautiful, they did a wonderful job of cleaning up everything
and even with a few glitches, such as the ants and some wiring issues, the cost was exactly what we had agreed on.
I have used the Hernacki company in the past and will continue to call them whenever I need work done on my
house. I can find a cheaper contractor, but I have NEVER found a better one. Mr Hernacki is meticulous in all
he does (and he does it all!). For my money, on my house, I absolutely recommend The Hernacki Company.

I contacted many contractors who didn't want to bother with this job.
Then I heard from Gary Evans of Evans & Evans Construction, who not only read my email, he had actually studied the pdf attachment, then emailed me immediately to tell me he thought I had ordered the WRONG DOOR. And I had!!! I ordered the dog door for door installation, when I needed the dog door for wall installation. How amazing is this??!! Gary caught my mistake, so that I was able to return the wrong door, and order the right door and have it at our home before he came out for the installation. I was impressed beyond words before I even met him!!
Gary was in constant communication; when the door arrived, scheduling the work day, then confirming the date. He arrived on time, in a company truck packed with every tool he needed. He unpacked the box and studied the drawings again, then flawlessly installed the door. This was installed through our hardiboard exterior siding, through the wall and into the garage. My husband and I were busy with Saturday chores but peeked in once in a while, in awe, at all the work (precise placement, measuring, cutting metal, walls, siding, the door installation)  that was involved - and the skill that Gary has. His work is impeccable. He is honest, personable, professional, and we would recommend him without hesitation.
One last word to any other contractors reading this - we plan to turn this big garage into a downstairs master suite, add on a large master bath and closet, and back deck that connects with our existing deck in the very near future. Guess who has the job? Gary Evans, Evans & Evans Construction. Gary says "that kind of work is really his specialty". He works with an architect and engineer who fool-proof floor plans (CRITICAL) and specializes in home additions and remodels. We spent time in the backyard discussing our renovation ideas and Gary could see it just as we did. We wouldn't consider using anyone else.
So, sometimes it pays to help a customer out with a small job - you never know what other business might come from it!

When we tried to call them back about a year later they were out of business.  One of the light fixtures they installed burned the bottom of the cabinets.  We had to have someone else replace the fixture.  We reported them to the Better Business Bureau for this area.
