  • The job went flawlessly. I am not an expert in home repairs. The sales rep, Rob, guided us through the whole process. I was a little skeptical, only because I am skeptical of all sales people. He has earned my trust. As for the quality of work, it was done right the first time. The windows and doors open and close smoothly. I did find it odd that 2 doors and screen doors cost almost $5,000 with labor for installation, but we definitely got what we paid for. Overall, Job Well Done!!!

  • Viohl contracting did a great job with my project. The new sunroom and patio is beautiful. The team was always on time, professional & courteous. They kept me informed of the progress of their work & provided guidance as needed. Would definitely use them for additional projects!

  • The work took much longer than I expected and this was the one problem I had with Jim as a contractor.  The work he did was outstanding but it took substantially longer, and cost more than I anticipated.  Despite these issues, I was not hesitate to use Jim again for any major work I needed done.

  • I have had both good and bad experiences with contractors but I can tell you that Lou and his entire crew are the very best. They are punctual, quiet, respectful of your property, and very accommodating. When they give you a price you can count on them bringing the project in on budget (barring unexpected surprises or any desire you might have to upgrade materials). The renovations (all of them) came out beautifully and I would not hesitate to hire them again. Lou will work with you (even make trips to suppliers with you). His communication is first rate and he goes out of his way to give you top notch work at the best price. Special accolades go out to "The Two Marios", Bob, and John. They are all fantastic people with versatile and prolific talents. They all have a great work ethic and are all "straight shooters". The best experience I have had with contractors.

  • I've been with them for years. I think they do an excellent work. They're very straightforward and honest. They're nice people to work with. I've used them for 25 years. I'm satisfied with how everything turned out. They've been creative.

  • In each case, they met with us, gave us options and pricing. Work was carried out when scheduled with minimum disruption to our household. Estimates were accurate - no surprises. Always cleaned up thoroughly. Checked back when job was done to see if we were satisfied. Very well run and professional.. Work of high quality.

  • Hired to enclose porch, new front siding and windows. They don't show up when they say they will or not show up at all.  Subcontractors used seem to not know their own trades (painter had to come back twice to re-do missed areas, electrician
had to come back to finish work that was pointed out to be unfinished, etc).  There were constant problems and a constant
need to call them back to repair things they damaged, or replace items that were installed improperly.  The project took
three times longer than anticipated to complete, and nearly doubled the estimate in the end.  Work is very shoddy
and sloppy ? so much so that we are having another contractor fix their mistakes which continue to create continued damage. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR ANYTHING.

March 27, 2014:  This case has been settled.

  • As with most people looking over reviews on this site, I've had my fair share of contractors that have not 'lived up to expectations'.  I was extremely nervous with contracting this job out.  We had four companies that came into bid, Apsley wasn't the most inexpensive, but they showed the most attention to detail and listened to what I was looking to accomplish.  We went with Apsley and I had not regretted it once.  They really succeeded in deciphering what I 'saw in my head' and brought it to life.
As with any job, there are blips...but Apsley made sure that they stayed in communication, addressed my (neurosis) concerns and for the most part, went smoothly.  We had some supply issues (which were not at the fault of Apsley) which extended the completion of the job.  Apsley upgraded a railing system because they didn't want to wait any longer for the product to come in (at no additional cost).  We had drilling issues because my house sits on a bed of rock and there were concerns about depth and passing inspections, but through it all, those guys sweated (dead heat of summer), with shovels, picks, hammers and jackhammers trying to will away another inch off that rock!
Inspections came and went and they were off!  The guys were considerate and cleaned up the site every day, knowing that I have 3 large dogs and 2 kids running from the house to the pool to the yard.  They did a fantastic job.  I gave them my 'punchlist' at the end and they showed up to knock them off one at a time.
I can't say enough about them.  Professional, courteous, trustworthy, honest, communicative and funny...all the things that I would look for in a contractor.   From the guys on the site, to the back office, I'd give them an A+ any day.  Great Job!

  • The story from start to finish is consistent high quality; I don't have any "Don'ts to report; but we have moved several times in Delaware, and our current home was and has not needed renovations, etc.

  • All these projects went very smoothly.
Biggest problems were with the county inspectors for the garage.
o  Apsley Builders professionally worked through the small troublesome areas with county personnel
o  Since the concrete pad was put in 2 years before and the "frostline" depths were now in question,
Apsley Builders had their Structural Engineer review the pad design.  The engineer  endorsed it as a very
well done concrete pad, thus meeting the county requirements to the county's satisfaction.
Apsley Builders employ workers that are happy, pleasing and "down to earth"
During garage building the electrician noted by my rebuilt 1978 Chev Blazer.
I told him it was ready for painting but the rear lights don't work.
He said, "I fix them for you."  He worked on hour on completing fixing the "Blazer lights"
Got all the lights working and would not accept any payment for his precious time.
