  • This contractor is incompetent, unethical, unfocused and DANGEROUS! He came to our house to give an estimate on a central AC issue. He arrived 20 minutes late. He was uninterested in listening as we tried to explain the problems we were experiencing. He removed the back cover of the outdoor AC unit, looked at it for a few minutes, wrote up an $800 proposal, told us we did not need to pay the $45 service fee because he had included it in the proposal, told us we either had to hire him on the spot or call him within an hour so he could stop back to service it while he was in the area, otherwise he would not come back because we lived too far away from his office. We told him we would NOT hire anybody on the spot, we needed to follow up with our home warranty company, we were getting 5 other proposals from other contractors and would get back to him once all of that was completed. He said he might be able to come back to help us in 7 - 8 days, and he left. As other contractors came out to give their proposals, they noticed that he had left the back panel of the AC unit unattached, exposing the 220 volt wires! They said it was very dangerous and said we should have him return to re-attach the cover ASAP. We called him and he said he would stop back in 1/2 an hour. He did not. We called the warranty company, who then called him, and he told them he would stop back soon. He did not. We called him again and he did not answer. We left a voice message. We called the warranty company again, letting them know he never came back. The next day he told the warranty company that we did not pay the $45 service fee, so he left the wires exposed. How unethical is that? Expose people to 220v because you were too careless to put the covering back on, and then make up some petty comment about how they did not pay you the service fee that is clearly included in the written proposal that you gave them? This man is incompetent, unethical, dangerous, and quite petty. Our advice is to stay away. Don't waste your time, or jeopardize your family's safety.

  • They tried to talk me into auto filling. I wanted to pay for what I got. They signed me up for autodelivery anyway. They kept showing up whenever they felt like, it was not consistent. They did not leave a bill so I had no idea this was going on. Now they want all of their money and they keep delivering oil. Why would you deliver to someone who isn't paying their bill? I finally got a hold of someone at HOP energy who would not help me. They just went on about a contract and said I could change my delivery frequency. I told him change it to never and now they want to charge me to get out of my contract. It's not even a good deal. Please read the other reviews and get an oil company that does not work for HOP energy.

  • He told me what he diagnosed would take care of the problem but it did not. If I call them, they come out and if it is something not in my contract I have to pay, but if it is in my contract I don't have to pay. 

    I had to call them because I was waiting all day for them to show up. They give you a time frame for when they are gonna come out, between this time and that time. The showed up more closer to the end of the time frame and not more towards the middle of the time frame, which meant my whole day was interrupted. I didn't like that. I understand you never know what the problem is going to be when you go to somebody's home. You never know if it is going to be longer. When he did the diagnoses it covered only one area of the house and not the entire house.

  • Setup heating oil delivery.  The service is quite cost effective - especially their fixed rate service.  Their customer service staff are very prompt to respond and were knowledgeable and shared appropriate information to make a decision.  
    The one peeve I have is that they sent a technician home without warning.  A call/email before hand would have helped.  The technician insisted on coming into the house to take a reading despite it being an inconvenient moment.  The excuse was that he had driven a long way to get to our house.  We obliged, but are concerned with the mis (non) communication.

  • DDM energy has horrible service. We called for delivery in October, the first delivery was at the end of December when we were at the risk of running out of oil.  Once you signed up for an account, it is very difficult to stop the automatic delivery. If you like to stop their service, make sure to call them multiple times, let them write a confirmation letter for cancelling account and mail to you.

  • I’ve been their fuel oil customer since 1982. I like the fact, when I first moved to the area, that they had an auto fill program. They keep track of when my tank needs filling and if they let it run out, then they will have a penalty or some kind of credit they give me. I’ve been very pleased with the work that they’ve done and the service I’ve gotten from them.

  • Went with Band M two years ago with a promotion. Prices were reasonable if oil/HVAC/trash and recycling bundled. After promotion ended, prices became very expensive: Cost of oil for 2012 - 2013 season: $4.799. Cost of HVAC maintenance: $368.00/year. Cost of capping oil price: $0.25/gallon. Cost of trash/recycling (with 40% discount) $52.00 and change.

  • See other reviews listed under DDM and Diamond/Delchester - other operating/listed names of this provider. I wish I had read all of the other reviews first. Overall, these are not the guys that put on booties to get the job done, but they were the best price for the installation services I needed. You get what you pay for.

  • Shellhorn & Hill Inc. are very good. I go down and order my oil and they send it within a day. So, all my needs are fulfilled with them. For an average customer, I can't say how it works. I have a big tank, I get it twice a year and it do it on my own. Now, I don't know how they do their contracts with most people. I'm different because I have a bigger tank and do it all myself. They're all good.

  • I've used Diamond Fuel Oil for many years. They just changed their name because they merged with somebody. It was Diamond Fuel Oil for many years and now I think it's Delchester Diamond or something like that. I have an automatic refill on my fuel tank and so they come knowing what my rate of usage is and they come and refill, so I've never had a problem with them. I've been very happy with them. The only time I've ever had to contact them was when a different fuel oil by mistake filled my tank because they got the address wrong and so I contacted them and said don't come because I have a full tank right now and that was just an error on the other company and fault which was not my company. I had called my company because I didn't know if they worked out some barter system knowing that the other company had filled my tank and then they worked it out amongst them and they said no it's their error and our drivers know that it's our house because we mark the houses so we don't make that mistake. He said I didn't have to pay the bill and I said I felt really guilty and he said it wasn't your mistake. I don't know what the per gallon charge is because it's a lot when the bill comes. It's whatever the oil is going for in the area at the time. Oil prices have jumped so much over the last decade it's really a lot more than it used to be no matter what carrier I had. I think they've been very good the few times I had to interact with them and I've never ran out of oil which is very important when you're on automatic delivery system.
