Trash Removal reviews in Wilmington

Poorly. Schedule of pickups is very complicated. Depending on type of trash (regular or yard waste) it's either Monday or Friday. Service is more expensive than competitor I have chosen. They missed a pickup and it took 4 phone calls and a failed internet interaction to contact them. By then I changed providers. They exhibited no concern that I cancelled the service, made no attempt retain the business & offered no refund (by contract they are not required to do so). Then they made contractor change more difficult by making no concession about container pickup.

This is by far the most affordable trash service in the area.  So far, the pick up has been on time and when I signed up, the staff was courteous and informative.  I would recommend this service- especially for those who only need trash/recycling pick up every other week.

Went online to get information to start using their services as a new customer and received an online quote.  However, being skeptical about online quotes, I also called the Customer Service.  I was shocked that the online quote for new customers was $273 for the year and the  Customer Serivce Quote for the year was $460. Asked why the difference, was told that charges for new service when requested online are waived yet to call in there is a charge. This made me feel very uncomfortable and that I would be subject to bait and switch down the road with increased charges my second year or having to hassle to get the online quote when I receive the first bill.  Also, did not like that their website did not contain a phone number to speak to a representative so I had to hunt to get their telepone number.  Also, the Customer Service representative did not suggest that I sign-up for service online to save money thus not a Customer Advocate.  I want a company who will treat me as a valuable customer not a money tree.  They lost a new customer because of these traits.
I will stick with my current vendor Econo-Haul, even though slightly higher than the new customer online rate, the fact that their phone number is on the website, no telephone tree to have to go through, and extremely pleasant customer service representative and very flexible - also no extra charges for large bulky items - only phone call to prepare driver as to whether need 2 people to pick up item to put in truck and to make sure truck is large enough to take item and put out on regular trash day pickup no special arrangements.  Econo-Haul also has 2 options for yard waste pickup and discount if pay full year in advance.

After calling numerous companies, my wife made contact with another local Company called Waste industries who we had contacted before but had large waste pick up trucks and therefore were not suitable because of the vehicle size . They have now purchased a van size vehicle which should be ideal for personal residence use. We have scheduled a trial to be sure all is compatible for this Friday with a cost of $32 / month or $ 384/year.

Since the work we scheduled a 12 Mo. Period contract with them.

Provides free containers and has no unreasonable limits on yard waste. Basically, what I put out is what they haul away. I try to put out no more than 10 - 12 bags of leaves or other yard waste per week in peak season but they have taken more when it was necessary to do so.

Burns and McBride has taken care of our trash for the past 18 months.
The service has declined since they outsourced their trash pick-up.
Their holiday schedule is inconvenient, the trash collection time varies
from week to week, and the trash collector constantly leaves the can in
the middle of the drive, blocking the entrance. We've decided to
cancel our service with this firm.

We are actually still customers of Republic Services ... but only until our contract with them expires.  Beware!!  You will be offered a price that beats your current garbage company, but YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!  We have had continued issues with our items not being picked up.  Usually the response is "they didn't finish the route, so just leave it out".  They've always picked up the next day after I send notification, but it's still annoying to not really have a "regular" day for garbage/recycle/or yard waste pick up.  They also told us we could cancel our yard waste pick up in the winter (which is an ADDITIONAL charge each month), but then went back on it.  We had to fight to get them to stick to their original promise.

They were cheaper than our previous garbage collection. They provided a neighborhood rate. Nearly 50% of our neighborhood is now using them. Recycling was free- other companies charged extra. Also, they gave me coupons for yard and garden. I haven't used the coupons yet but Econo-Haul has been great. They come once a week.

Their service is excellent. The main reason I like them is because I recycle. I like that I don't have to bag my yard clippings. They are good at taking things away. If they ever make mistakes, they resolve it without any hassle. They are very responsive if you need to call them. They are very accessable, and reasonable.

If you think you will pay $75, think twice, once they come to your house, they will try to get a lot more out of you. I have used them twice. The first time they came, the guy said, so looks like you have about $250 worth of trash. I said, WHAT!? He said, yes, you paid for one quarter of a trailer, and you have about 3/4 trailer of stuff. I did not have much. I agreed to $150 worth, and they took most of my stuff. I decided recently to use them again, but this time get confirmation of exactly how much space I was allotted (108 cubic feet), and I measured my junk. 108 cubic feet is quite a bit. I told the guy I knew exactly how much I had, would not be paying more than $75, and he assured me they would take the full 108 cubic feet. So guess what? They didn't show up. I called, the guy apologized rescheduled for later that week. They didn't show up. I gave up at that point, as I had to go away for a week. They called my cell while I was away, asked if I needed service soon. I said yes, I already got blown off twice, please come get it Friday, March 23rd. They didn't show up. They did call to say that instead of between one and three they would be here at 3:30, but didn't show. Called again to say 5:30, but didn't show. Each time the person on the phone cited "traffic" Must have been some kind of traffic. Now I'm stuck having to find another way to get rid of my trash, and get my money back.   If you do use them, measure everything so you don't pay on penny extra! And don't count on them showing up when you want them. Certainly don't take off an afternoon from work. Angie's list should get rid of this offer.
