General Contracting reviews in Wilmington

  • Excellent! I love them, they were referred to me by a friend of mine that had just had her bathroom renovated. I'm so glad I took her advice and called them. Really easy to talk to, no pushy sales tactics. I told them what I wanted and Vanessa had a 3 concept designs done for me to choose from.

  • They did a great job. Communicating with Vanessa and Roan is great, they got back to me right away with any concerns or questions I had. I am very satisfied with the work and would hire them again without a doubt.

  • Communicating with them was great, they asked me a lot of questions to make sure we were on the same page. They made my vision come to life, transforming my wet basement into a completely finished basement. It’s like a dream, a man’s cave dream, haha. I saved up for this for a long time, I’m happy I chose them, their work is superb.

  • The required work was done over several month during 2017. Unfortunately, our experience with E.S. Tile was both frustrating and very upsetting. The major issues are as follows: - ES Tile prepared their written cost quote from detailed work lists, careful "to scale" floor plan drawing provided by the homeowner, and following detailed discussions regarding the high standards of craftsmanship expected. The owner, Eloy Sosa, offered a verbal estimate that our job would require 4-6 weeks. They started the job mid-June 2017, did massive demolition until the end of June, and then went on vacation. They did not return to actively work on our job for 75 days. This left me without access to some kitchen and powder room facilities for months. The project was not completed fully until the end of October 2017. - ES Tile elected to renew the kitchen flooring by not only removing the original floor covering, but also the sub-floor right down to the floor joists. As it turns out, the new sub floor, it's overlay, and the new floor covering were installed in such a way that the new floor is now uneven. The thickness of plywood supplied today is not as thick as the plywood supplied 50 years ago. This difference was apparently not considered when replacement material was used, causing a "hump" where new and old construction meet all along one wall. The overlay sheet, installed over the subfloor, was not finished to achieve an unbroken surface by "skim coating" joint areas and other imperfections, causing joints between the overlay sheets to telegraph through the new sheet floor covering. - ES Tile brought an outside electrical contractor (Mega Power Electric Inc.) to our jobsite to perform necessary electrical work. The work done by this contractor failed to meet both the Delaware Code and NEC requirements. The original electrical work accomplished on this site was left in a completely unsafe condition. Proper GFCI circuit breakers were not installed, code compliant receptacles were not used, poorly made ground connections were discovered, and the circuit breaker panel was left open and without its cover. Further, neither ES Tile nor Mega Power Electric arranged for a certified electrical inspector to visit this site in order to examine and approve the new electrical work as required by Delaware Regulations. ES Tile was given the opportunity to rectify the sub-standard electrical work, eventually commenting they could not find a provider willing to re-do another contractor's work. I had to hire and pay a truly qualified and licensed electrical contractor to rectify the electrical issues. Mr. Sosa did permit for the cost to be deducted from the final project payment. - ES Tile failed to oversee, inspect and approve off-site fabrication of quartz countertops and backsplash. The materials originally delivered had minor blemishes, off center fixture position, and poor fit-ups. They were unable to solve these problems. I eventually had to directly negotiate with both the manufacturer and the fabricator of the countertop to accomplish preferential resolution. I also had to design, fabricate, and install supports for certain sections of the countertops because ES Tile could not accommodate some aspects of the installation. Some of the countertops were not and are still not level despite remedial efforts. -They were asked on several occasions to provide both interim and final invoicing to satisfy good business practice, to document work done and to tally materials used. Such paperwork is important for insurance reasons, tax reasons and as evidence of responsible property preservation. At no time did ES Tile ever provide requested documents. -They promised to deliver both Product Literature and Product Warranty info so that future maintenance and/or warranty service could be accomplished with minimum effort. At best, only some of the information was ever obtained. Often I had to retrieve manuals and brochures from discarded product packaging. The foregoing were the major transgressions. There were many lessor problems, such as repeated breaks in work continuity that required me to create "punch-lists" of the next steps to smooth work restarts and avoid oversights when worker craft skills failed to meet the high standards promised. When I raised objections to the less than acceptable workmanship, I was often told that the work "met trade standards" or that I was "too fussy." Our experience does not even closely compare with expectations engendered by the ratings and reviews for ES Tile published on Angie's List.

  • It looks fantastic!!! Todd is the kind of guy that fixes things as if they were his own. He also makes positive suggestions on things you may not have thought about. We felt that he was so trustworthy that we gave him a key to our house and had no problems. So you can see that he comes highly recommended!!!

  • Larry and his team showed up on time and completed the work quickly and efficiently. What I most appreciated about their work was their professional and friendly team of workers. Right from the start they prepared the workspace and covered our new floors with Ram Board to protect the floors. The workers completed the demo and cleaned up on day one. From there the tile workers consulted with us to ensure we had the exact layout of the tile. The work was completed with such great attention to detail. Once the complete job was finished the guys showed up to complete a total cleaning. Our place looks great and we are glad we made the investment in the bathrooms and kitchen remodel.

  • Very well. I am quite pleased with the quality of work performed. The workers were friendly and dealt very well with my dog while I was working and they were at the house. Very receptive to questions and inputs about the work being done. I have enjoyed dealing with this company and their workers.

  • I totally lucked out when I found Steve Hogan on a google search (which sometimes has unhappy endings). First, he is an Electrical Engineer and he loves to solve problems. I commend his tenacity. He does not give up until he has a solution.... and he does it correctly. Every time. Steve completely solved my kitchen lighting issue. Previously I had been warned that the wiring was compromised and it was "impossible" to change the switch. Steve kindly insisted on taking a peek. He quickly found a very simple, do-able solution and installed a dimmer switch in a matter of minutes. Now my kitchen makes me very happy. Steve was meticulous and creative with the bathroom vanity installation. He preserved the integrity of the new cabinet by only making necessary and precise cuts to accommodate the plumbing. He precisely installed baseboard where someone else might not have bothered. He tackled moving the electric outlet when it interfered with the new vanity. It was a tough job because the wall lacked adequate support for the box. Steve did not leave the outlet, cockeyed and wobbly, like the previous electrician. It is solid and straight and perfect. I can trust Steve's work. He sincerely wants to help. My refrigerator was jammed and hopelessly stuck in a small space. Since I need to replace the refrigerator, family and friends had been brainstorming for weeks with no solution. Steve poked around a bit, asked if I had a 2X4, and created a lever. It took some physical strength and endurance, but he had the fridge out in 15 minutes. He really, truly likes to solve problems and fix them.....and he has a van with every tool for the job. My favorite was a battery operated vacuum. Yup, he cleans up when he's done! Besides being a skillful craftsman in electrical work, he is a plumber, carpenter, appliance repairman and more. He will crawl in your crawlspace and haul away your junk. He is careful with your belongings and sincere about wanting to do a good job. I like to have nice people with integrity work in my home. Steve is one of those.

  • WOW! John can fix anything! Wonderful to work with! Clean, responsive, on time, and pleasant to work with. The quotes/prices were always right on target every step of the way. From now on, John will be the first person I call for repairs or upgrades to my new home. I first hired John for a ceiling repair due to water damage from a tree branch through the roof. He and his team put in the new insulation, new sheetrock, and installed a solar tube (interior portion). They completed the work by painting the ceiling. His quote was in line with the insurance company. After the wonderful work they did on the ceiling, I found other projects around the house for them to complete! I will be hiring them in the future for bathroom upgrades!
