    Living far from my Dad, I used Angie's List to find a septic company in his area. McMullen was responsive, polite, and understanding of the situation and went out to see my Dad the next day. I can't thank them enough for their professionalism.

    I was very please with the work done both inside an outside.   
    Shelby, the owner, was very professional and helpful.  He explained how the work would be done and was very accurate on the time that would be  necessary to do the work.  Anytime I had a question I could call him and he would get right back to me
    The men  who did the work were all polite, trustworthy.   They did quality work.   One of the things that really impressed me was the fact that no matter what circumstances came up they adjusted  without any negative feedback.   For instance:  When they went to paint the shed I had forgotten I had stored things behind it.   The bushes also had grown so much they couldn't get back there.They removed all the stored Items and trimmed  the bushes.   
     I am preparing my home for sale.   If I find need something else done it's nice to know I can call and this company can do anything.   I would highly recommend Pryor Services

    Our septic system sent up an alarm at about 1:30pm on 12/15.  I called up Angie's List on the web and researched a few different companies and settled on McMullens.  The fellow who answered the phone was friendly and extremely helpful.  He gave me a straight answer when I asked about cost and said he could send a truck out in about an hour.
    A truck arrived within 30 minutes of the call. The service tech, Joe, worked quickly to determine the cause of our problems, and came up with a good plan to make the septic system functional until we could arrange for the repairs needed.  He did not in any way attempt to ratchet up the costs, but performed the job as any professional would - quickly, efficiently, and with much patience as he explained exactly what he was doing and what I should do to follow up.
    I cannot say enough good things about the service provided, and I would not hesitate to use them again or recommend them to friends or neighbors.

    Telephone service was professional. Technician who arrived at the house was prompt, professional, and efficient. Services were performed as agreed upon in the amount of time estimated and for the price quoted. I had a tight schedule, and they worked with me on that, and I really appreciated it!     This review is to ultimately state that American Home Shield is using incompetent contractors in my area.
     I moved into a house in Seaford, DE in Sept. 2011.  In October I had a problem with my hot water heater.  Amer Home Shield sent a company called Energy Solutions to fix it.  The man they sent was incompetent...told me I need an 80 gallon hot water heater and that there were no smaller ones between the 40 gallon one that I had and the 80 gallon one. He then said it would cost more to purchase and install and I should buy it through them.  I realized it was a scam to make more money.  I called Sears and they installed a 50 gallon heater.
    Then I had a problem with my heat and air conditioning system, and again American Home Shield sent someone from Energy Solutions.  They told me I needed a new system because there was a hole that should not be there and it was dangerous.  In any event, I finally realized that this company was bogus.  I called someone else and they fixed the problem within an hour. 
    Meanwhile, my friends Joanne and Sandi&Don had the SAME PROBLEM WITH THE SAME COMPANY, ENERGY SOLUTIONS, AS THEY ALSO HAVE AMERICAN HOME SHIELD.  Our realtor purchased this insurance for us when we bought our houses from her. 
    This week I had a problem with my sump pump.  I told American Home Shield I did not want Energy Solutions.  They said they were sending me Alfred Mousley Plumbing.  When Mousley Plumbing called to confirm the appointment, ENERGY SOLUTIONS APPEARED ON MY CALLER ID!  THEY HAD CHANGED THEIR NAME I'm sure because of all of the complaints.  I then called American Home Shield to complain and they told me this was the only company they used in my area.
    My friends and I are not renewing with American Home Shield.  They lost 3 customers in one area because of their lack of interest in customer service and for using incompetent contractors.  I would never recommend them to anyone.

    We had an experience with the Martin Septic Company of Seaford Delaware.  We engaged the services of Mr. Martin, the apparent namesake of the company to evaluate the septic system of a house we were trying to purchase.  The real estate agent informed us Mr. Martin had removed a cover of the tank, said it was damaged and the system needed to be replaced.  The owners had experienced no problems with the existing system.  The owners of the house were informed, and we agreed to split the cost of installing an approved and functioning system.  The back yard of the home was covered with a beautiful lawn with a pretty red maple in the middle of it, which had to be removed at a cost of about $1000 which Mr. Martin wrapped into the final cost.  After about two months, the delay of which rested on Mr. Martin's illness of some sort, the system was finished, according to Mr. Martin.  I authorized the final payment totaling $10,000 to the Martin Company on the word of Mr. Martin that everything was in order.  We lived out of the area, and I am not a plumber, so I believed that the work was done professionally and properly.     

    The problems started almost immediately.  The workers we had hired to renovate the house reported stopped up toilets almost every day.  They had to go under the house and unclog the pipes.  When I arrived there was still another stoppage.  I paid them to unclog it, a filthy job I might add, and it worked for a day or two and stopped up again. I went under the house and found a 90 degree elbow in a waste drain pipe at the street clean out, a fresh new looking piece of plastic drain pipe, the final connection to the new system.  The clogs always formed here. 

    There was hardly any slope from the house to the first processing tank.  The three tanks are not in a straight line, and some were at ground level, some 3 or more inches above ground level.  There were only 2 screws holding the covers on any of the three processing tanks where there were provisions for 8.  I installed 2 additional screws in each cover, which reduced the foul odors emanating from the tanks.  After several days of frustrating clogs and repeated clearings, we hired a plumber. He raised the house drains as far as possible and removed the 90 degree waste pipe and replaced it with two 45 degree pipes.  It was a costly but effective repair, but since that time we have had no more stoppages.     

    I also ran over one of the 9 clean-out caps with the lawn mower and fractured it while mowing the yard.  They left them at varying levels this one stood about 3 inches above the rest, and I didn't see it among the weeds.  I will have to dig this out and repair and properly level it with the existing grade.  I also noted that in the corner of the yard the "topsoil" fill was almost all rocks. The contract stated that the Martin Company was supposed to either sod, or rake and seed the new surface. I called and asked Mr. Martin to remove the excessive rocks and he told me he would but only if I paid him extra to do so. Exasperated at his inaction, I called the DNREC and asked them to intercede.  They convinced him to remove several wheelbarrows of rocks, but he refused to rake the area, which was of course impossible, as the ground is still mostly rocks.  After this episode we realized any further actions with Mr. Martin would require extensive legal expenses which would not prove worthwhile on a cost and frustration basis, so I took my lumps and moved on.   No grass had come up in the areas he had disturbed, so we asked when we should expect some.    He told us the entire area was seeded with grass seed, but we never saw any new grass, only crabgrass, weeds and a lot of turnips.  Weed-n-feed finally removed most of the turnips, but new lawn quality grass never grew.       

    My suggestion is, if you need septic tank work done, do not rely on the word of any one company.  Have two or more assess your situation, get competing bids, and hire a plumber to inspect their work before you pay them.  We wish we had.  Also, insist the contract spells out the type of ground cover.  Seed may or may not come up, but if it doesn't you will have already paid the contractor, and it will be too late for you.      

    The Martin Company is a State approved class B septic designer and installer.  Apparently the State of Delaware trusts the installers to the extent that the State does little oversight during the contractor's work.  It saves you tax money but can leave you holding the bag

    On time- worked all day finishing when they said they would. 2 rains so far and no water. Cleaned up, too. Only thing I didn't like is they broke something and scraped my washer badly, and didn't tell me I had to discover that later.

    Overall rating - I give them an “A” mainly because they came out on a Sunday. I had a little water damage, but not much. I didn’t have to call anybody else, it wasn’t that bad.
