  • I have had a maintenance agreement with North Star for 15 years. One December, 30th 2017, I made my first emergency call, to North Star. With that said, this is how the service call proceeded. Douglas the technician was professional, Knowledgeable and determined the problem. He did manage to get the system working for about any hour. I was informed I need a LP conversion kit. The company didn’t stock the kit and I was told it would take at least 5 days to obtain the kit. So, I agreed to the terms. The next day (December 31st) I became concerned about my pipes freezing. I started searching for another company to fix the problem. I did find a company that stocked the LP Conversion Kit. They came out and fix the problem. On January 2nd 2018, I called North Star, informed them the HVAC system has been fixed. I was then told, there would be a service charged. I explained, I have a maintenance agreement, with the company. She then said, I need to check to verify the charge. I then received two missed calls from an unknown number. Then, I received text messages from a North Star employee, “Thanks for the cell back. My guy checked the heat. It came on. It’s a spring cleaning and check up and a fall heat check up. So we need to be paid. You should get the money from who ever installed it. There is a old saying cheaper is not always better. Give me a call”. The next message, said “Make sure you share your quality new install and you would call me back and we went out at 11pm on a Saturday night when it was freezing to fix a poor install job by unqualified people”. On January 5th 2018, I received an invoice in the mail from North Star for a labor charge and travel time, in the amount of $184.50. This is a review of the people I came in contact with the company, more so then the company. Out of the 15 years, I used the company. I have never experience this kind of service. But, I have never needed them on an emergency bases either.

  • Awful. Our first hint of trouble was when RP wouldn't issue bills for work performed 3 months previously. When it finally issued one RP stamped it "60-90 days overdue". This led my insurance agent into thinking I had been hiding bills from him. RP later issued bills for work it hadn't done. RP bizarrely wouldn't send us bills for work it had done. The RP storefront in Ocean City and the HQ office in Federal Hill MD continuously whipsawed us in our efforts to set things right. RP staff would not show up for weeks at a time. RP left a giant dumpster in our driveway for about 15 months with its name and phone number on the side. The joke among my neighbors was that RP was too dumb to realize it was unwise to advertise the name of the company doing such slow work. RP reps would repeatedly deny they had been sent e-mails pointing out problems in their work. One example: When we noticed that RP had drywalled over our cable TV outlet we sent them an e-mail suggesting they expose the outlet before painting the room. The then-project manager acknowledged our e-mail but when we returned to the house they had painted the room without exposing the cable TV outlet. The project manager then tried to say we had never sent him an e-mail pointing out the issue. This was a constant theme with a variety of RP reps. At one point RP reps complained that the 2nd floor temp was 25 degrees higher than the first floor. I found out that when RP dismantled a first floor HVAC trunk line it didn't plug the hole it left in the main duct. This meant that we had a toasty crawl space for 3 weeks during which I spent about $1300 in propane. RP refused to reimburse me for this expense. When they dawdled fixing the hole in the duct I installed duct tape myself. An RP electrician left 2 live wires touching each other in the control box which left our garage door opener inoperable until I hired another electrician to fix it. RP walked away from the job before finishing. After they removed the dumpster they left me with a garage full of garbage that I mostly disposed of gradually through weekly trash pick-up. Our final settlement was delayed because the RP controller balked at reimbursing me $2 for a toilet valve handle that RP was supposed to install but didn't. During the process RP assured us we would have a final walk-through with the project manager but they never offered one. RP folks continuously nickel and dimed us and constantly pointed fingers at other RP reps when things went wrong, which they frequently did. The woodworking and drywall reps did high quality work when they showed up.

  • It was pretty awesome. I had looked at a problem and I was really trying to figure out why my furnace keep cycling, and it wouldn't keep a temperature. We are expecting a house full of guests Saturday, and I was down to my last lifeline. I brought out another company, and the did an evaluation. They came to the determination that I needed a new heat-exchanger, which really pointed to getting a new furnace. I thought I would bring Megee out, since they have a good reputation. The guy called me(I wasn't on site), and asked what was going on, and I explained the problems I was seeing. Within an hour, he called back and explained to me in much detail how he troubleshooted the problem. So rather than a new furnace at $2500, I was able to have the Megee tech figure out the problem, and fix it within an hour or 2. The last thing I was looking for was a $2500 expense around the holidays. I am completely sold on Megee service. The solution wasn't a broken part, or something malfunctioning. It was a very difficult condition that he figured out, and solved. My hats off to these guys.

  • Scheduling was easy. Technician arrived punctually. Immediately placed shoe covers on and new where to go and performed maintenance promptly. Cleaned up any insulation "mess" from attic location of furnace and adjusted a/c compressor. Highly satisfied with work.

  • Service was scheduled for between 11:00 am & 1:00 pm. Tech was here at 11:25 am and placed cloth covers over his shoes. Knew just where to go and took care of what had to be done quickly and efficiently. I have been dealy with K&B for 2 years and always felt comfortable dealing with them.

  • Technicians called prior to arrival and then arrived on time. Maintenance was performed efficiently and issues were explained. Quoted price from office was accurate and technician showed me work order line items and provided an electronic receipt after payment.

  • I have a maintenance contract with them and they come out twice a year. Any thing that needs fixed is extra. I've been using them for about 15 years. I think I've only ever run into one person that I considered to be not customer service, they shouldn't have been dealing with people. Maybe they just were having a bad day that day. All except for that one guy, they are friendly. They work with me and they give you discounts. They send you a notice that if you renew your contract within a certain day - usually every year I forget and I miss the deadline, but they still give me a discount. Just they are great at working with their customers.
