Be sure to call your insurance company first and let them find a provider for you. It was Jims decision to work after 5pm, I would have preferred that he was here at 7:00 an and then charge "after hours fees". Always said one thing and did another. He did work hard, when he worked. He started with $2,000, then it went to $4,000. Then he called my insurance company and found out that I had $10,000 for water damage and another $4,000 for mold damage. He got everything while my repairs were three times the cost with all the work that needed to be done by other contractors. He called my mortgage company which he wasn't authorized to do. Items on the bill that HE DIDN'T do. I will never recommend him for water or mold remediation. He might do a good job clean carpets but he's massively over priced. He wanted over $700 to clean the carpet on the stairs, 3/4 of a room of carpet (part of it was wood) and clean a 4 piece theater seating. I got it done for $120 by another contractor who did a terrific job and didn't pad the bill. NEVER AGAIN. By working alone and not having the 2 or 3 helpers working full time like other restoration companies do he didn't find the water in an area that caused mold. He didn't find it.....we did. It had gone up the wall.

    Phoenix Restoration
From the beginning, phoenix employees were on time explained everything, kept us posted on progress and were very professional. I felt very comfortable allowing them in my home w/out being there. They took extra measures to keep the rest of our home clean as they worked.

We have used Jim before for carpet cleaning, and will use him again for regular services.  But I cannot say enough positive things about Jim and his staff for also helping us with a recent issue.   They were professional, efficient, and compassionate in helping us deal with a broken pipe that flooded our finished basement.  Jim is very knowledgeable about the process and gave us excellent advise on how to deal with the unexpected mess.  Highly recommended!

    Dibiaso's Cleaning and Restoration Services
After having a water leak in our basement, DiBiaso's was recommended to me.  Al took my phone call, and was clearly very knowledgeable.  He actually recommended that we did not need any water restoration, given our description of the situation.  I was impressed by him, so I booked the carpet cleaners to come in after the carpet repairs were done.  In addition to having the carpets cleaned based on the water leak, we had an area with a pet odor issue that I wanted them to address.
Our initial appointment for carpet cleaning was postponed because something had broken on the truck.  We had been having a substantially cold winter, so I understood.  The make up appointment was completed as scheduled.  The workmen were professional, but I felt that they didn't handle the pet odor issue at all.

    Servpro of Bear/New Castle
I called Servpro and asked them to do the clean up after our finished basement flooded,  They required A 500.00 deposit on a credit card.  They could not tell me what the final price would be.  After I insisted, I was finally told an average price for an average room would be $600.00 - 1200.00.  I asked if they could look at what needed to be done and give me an estimate but was told they could not do that since they had so many jobs lined up due to the storm.  They also could not tell me when the work would start. Long story short, when we returned home the basement was a mess.  One of the baseboards had been ripped off to test for mold, the carpet had been torn up, padding discarded and carpet laid loose on the concrete floor.  When I finally received the bill, after asking for it several times, it was for $2500.00, much more than I ever expected.

I called the office 4 different times and was told each time I would receive a call back and I never did.  Whenever I questioned the cost I was told over and over they had to charge "industry standard" rates.  I finally had to explain that they do not have to charge the industry standard, they could choose to charge less.  I asked to speak with the owner again.  The owner never called me but I did finally get a call back from the same person the next day saying she had reviewed my account with the owner and they agreed to reduce the bill by 5% which I accepted.

This company is holding all the information.  They stonewalled every question I asked so I did not have the information I needed and was stunned when I finally received the bill.  The last thing I heard from them is that the owner wanted me to know that if they had not removed the carpeting I would have had a major mold problem.  I understand that is his professional opinion, but he does not seem to understand that keeping the customer informed of the progress of the job would make a happy customer.

    Mold Solutions & Inspections
We had mold in our living room walls due to faulty installations of replacement windows.  Had used Joe and his company previously.  Enjoyed working with them so we called Joe immediately.   He responded back personally within 24 hours.  He came to begin the work the following day.  The work took 1 and 1/2 days to finish.  They cut the drywall out.  Cleaned and removed mold inside the wall.  And then encapsulated these areas per our request.  Joe and his worker were great to work with.  They were friendly, professional and helpful.  Joe even left his air scrubber for a few extra days at our house to help address the vapors from the encapsulation material.  I would highly recommend Joe for any mold issues!

They were very capable and very good people.  They are submitting the invoice to our insurance company, I don’t have the copy of that, but they said they would furnish me a copy.  They got here very quickly and were very responsive.  They diverted their man to do the initial assessment and he immediately alerted them that they should come out the same day in the evening.  They did save everything.  They were very good and cleaned up after themselves.  A supervisor came back, tested the level of water with a machine, and told us that they would have to leave the equipment on for another day because it hadn’t been totally dry yet.  The supervisor who came was a very responsible and very knowledgeable fellow.  We are dried out and we feel very comfortable with being to be able to reconstruct without any molds.  The second day, the manager called us to say that he would be out here between one and three and he got here around twelve.

    Aesop's Gables Inc
They are superb.  Marty Frost, the proprietor, is extremely honorable, diligent, and does top quality work.  He does everything in the construction and builds houses from ground up, now he is busy with repairing and remodeling work.  He told me ceramic tiles were his specialty.  The storm windows that he replaced were superb.  He sometimes might have to take off for a day or two but he will always follow through and always goes out of his way to finish up.  He came back after the windows were installed to give me a replacement on the lower pane for the upstairs bathroom because he didn’t like the way the first one fit; at no extra charges.  The water damage rehabilitation is in process now and the windows were put in a year and a half ago.  We haven’t estimated out the sum of it, however he gave me an estimate of $1700 for rehabilitating the kitchen, that includes putting in a fire ceiling, putting in a selection of light fixtures, and repainting.  In the bathroom, we didn’t know the tile would have to be ploughed up so he hasn’t priced that job yet and he has to install a new vanity too.  Marty did an excellent job with the sliding glass doors.  He recommended something based upon our requirement that was a little different from what we thought we needed, but it really suits the job much better and we are extremely happy with that.  I am also planning to have him reinstall the tiles of the backsplash in our kitchen one of these days.  He also does ripping and gutter work.  He is like a general handyman but he has much more skills than a general handyman has.  His workers that he recruits are well-qualified people and are trustworthy.  On the windows, he gave us ideas and worked with a local manufacturer for first two grade levels because the turnaround time for their production was faster.  The better quality door that we wanted had to be manufactured in Canada but it was from the same company and that was good.  He always cleans up the messes, totally.  As a matter of fact, he went out of his way, when he put the new window in the dining room.  He doesn’t just cut and reinsert, he takes the siding off and reinserts as if it was a brand new installation because otherwise it wouldn't be as good a job and will always wind up with leaks later.  He found that the manufacturer that built the house originally, did poor installation, the siding was rotting away, and I didn’t know this, so he replaced that wood as long as he was there.  It was a nominal amount; I think he only charged for the wood.  Before he does extra things that are necessary, he always verifies it with me first.  He is very honest, trustworthy, and professional.  He is always neat and clean.  He is extremely strict; he is ex-military so he carries himself well.  One might find a cheaper contractor but one will not find a contractor that is any better.  We need more windows replaced and we will certainly use him.

The service was horrible.  They came in and there were certain things they said they wouldn't pack.  My daughter thought they were on drugs because they were taking breaks and they didn’t want to lift anything more than forty pounds and we had a lot of stuff to be thrown out and cleaned up.  One girl from the crew didn’t like our cat because she was allergic to cats and out of her five hour shift, she was probably only in the house for an hour and a half; she kept going outside.  They underestimated amount of storage space needed and we had to book another one because they were off by 50% on the volume of things that they were taking out.  I called the manager to tell them that they were off the job and of course, when they came back it just wound up because they were going to help with moving in the next place we were going to go to.  Most of them looked like they were twenty-six or under so it was hard to believe that they couldn't lift anything more than thirty to forty pounds.  They were recommended by our insurance company so all they want to do is send somebody nice and cheap to come in and clean up.  They didn’t know how to pack the knick-knacks and glassware and our cabinets.  They were just horrible and we ended up having do it ourselves, so my wife, my daughter and I had to all that the next day after the fire.  The person I spoke to was Mike McIntyre.  We didn’t have to pay them, it was covered by insurance, but we did have to pay for the damage that they incurred.  For instance, there was a small piano with a decorative curvature underneath the keyboard at each end and I had told them not to use them as handles to lift the piano, but they did and ripped one of them off.  The insurance company had to cover that but the problem was we already had our limit reached sooner than the amount of damage that we needed to be repaired.  They didn’t even say sorry for it, we were right there when it happened and I had already told them about it.  They also relied on the excuse that they are a carpet cleaning company and they don’t move furniture but my insurance company told me that all of it would be done.  Mike told me that if he had known it involved moving furniture, he would have gotten a different crew with him.  I think he would have just got some guys of the street to help.  I could have done that myself.  They did help to take out the damaged trash, books and magazines and we already had the water damaged items in a bag, they had to take all that and throw it in the big dumpster out here.  Some of things were just thrown out of the window of the room that had the fire damage and so it hit the dumpster and some fell on the ground.  They cleaned it up a little bit but not completely.  They did help pack a bit, they did move the boxes that we packed and moved all the furniture and boxes into the storage for us.  They didn’t have to clean the carpets because the carpets were a total loss and the apartment had to be totally reconstructed.  The girl from the crew was supposed to pack things but the man said that wasn’t their job.  What I found that the things that she was packing, she put a cast iron skillet on top of antique china and consequently we took over rather than dealing with them.  They were not apologetic for any of that.  They did acknowledge that the job was difficult but their demeanor was sloppy.  One guy came around and visited them and he might have been their manager or supervisor.  When I told him, he just said he understood how we felt but didn’t do anything and just stood there watching what we were going through.  They rented a truck, which had none of the equipment, not even bungee cords to try and secure everything.  They may excel at carpet cleaning but should not be in moving or cleanup business.  They were a bunch of zombies who were careless and in a hurry to finish the job somehow and get out of there.
