    These guys are always professional and thorough. I've had them out 4 times in the last 6 years (and I don't think the price has changed in that time), and each time John and AJ are professional and educational. Before John leaves, he's sure to sit down and ask questions about how we use the fireplace to make sure we are using the most effective practices for burning wood. We get not only a cleaning, but a lesson. On at least two of the occasions they were running late from a previous job, but they called promptly, apologized, revised their arrival time and showed up within that time frame. The communication is good (especially because they set specific appointment times rather than "service window hours", as some industries do). Each time they have come, they have provided pretty much the same recommendations for future work. This time, John came down from the roof (after a basic sweeping) to show me pictures of what was happening to the brick work around the top of my chimney. This certainly shows that the recommendations that he made six years ago are continuing to grow in necessity. While I may not like the need to have a significant job done on the chimney, I appreciate that he's patiently showing this his initial recommendation was right. I cannot speak to whether their pricing is high or low as I've not had anyone else come for an estimate. But the cost for the service seems fair to me.

    After installing a new water heater, my husband discovered a backdraft issue with the chimney. He called Chadds Ford Chimney Sweep on a Friday, discussed his findings with them, received a likely estimate for that work over the phone, and was able to get an appt for Monday morning. Shortly before the scheduled appt, we received a call from them, apologizing for running late, offering the choice of a new arrival time or a reschedule. We were fine with them arriving later in the day. When they arrived, they went right to work, inspecting the chimney inside and out. They swept it, and explained we had a larger issue. Seems our chimney isn't lined. They gave us a price point for getting that work done (ranging from $2,500 for lining to $4,000 if a rebuild was necessary). I loved how they didn't try to press or bully us into having that work done immediately! They wrote everything down on the statement so we can follow up when we are ready. We would defnitely recommend them, and will be using them for all additional work, including vent cleanings.

    I just bought a new house and the home inspector requested a chimney professional review the chimney. I called the first week of November and they fit me in two days before Thanksgiving. Nicest professional came out today and was very polite. He called me at 9:00 advising he was a bit ahead of schedule and could be at my house 15 minutes early. He did the entire job within an hour and it was a smooth service. There was absolutely no dust on my rugs and furniture once he was done.

    We had been misled by a previous contractor who completed some repair work on our chimney. Swift Services took a video of the chimney interior and cell phone photos on our roof, so we could see the damage and understand the repairs needed. We had several repair options and they answered all of our questions without pressuring us to choose a specific service. We decided to stop using the fireplace and save up for the repairs. We contacted Swift Services a year later and they scheduled us for the repairs without charging us for an additional inspection or even requiring another estimate. Everyone we had contact with was professional and easy to work with.

    The service rep was very safety conscious and went over safety details on how to properly build a fire, how to dispose of the embers, how to avoid extra smoke coming into the house.  he did a thorough examination of the chimney flues, inside and outside and checked some brick facing in the attic that a previous inspector had explained needed to be re-mortared.  He had a thorough knowledge of the construction of our chimney and pronounced in in very good condition.  He also confirmed the proper discharge location for fallen embers into the basement, which had been a worry for us.  He pronounced that in good shape as well.  He also went over the idea we wanted to explore of making the fireplace into a two sided one and he explained that this was indeed possible.  but he recommended that we use the third flu, which he discovered and which no one had told us about, and explained we could convert that flu to a gas fired fireplace flu for the room on the other side. 
    He cleaned up well after himself and was professional throughout.  I will use him again every year.

    A representative of Swift Services inspected the job and provided an estimate and contract.  I was told the company would schedule the work in a few weeks.  After about 3 weeks, I called them back and spoke to a representative that said they were busy doing some larger jobs, and since my job was smaller, they would get back to me.  I waited a few more weeks, and when I still was not contacted, I called Swift Services back and cancelled my contract.
    They were apologetic, but the fact remains that they did not follow up on their original promise.  I searched for another contractor that gave me a very reasonable price and completed the job in a timely manner.

    Keith responded quickly to my message on Angie's list and was very easy to talk to on the phone. He arrived early with his crew. They cleaned everything (even my ash can!) and gave me some advice as to how my stove was burning and when to get my next cleaning. The whole crew was very polite and efficient. I will definitely use them again.

    Appointment was for 8 - at 745 he called to let me know he'd be late due to weather, and he arrived at the new time specified.  He was able to do the sweep and clean, and since I couldn't remain on site, he called me to let me know how everything went and gave me a verbal report as well as leaving a written one. 
    Nice small business to work with.

    Purchased Angie's Big Deal for a Chimney Sweep Plus Safefy Inspection and Chimney Maintenance Package including waterproofing and inspection from Colonial Way Home Services Inc..  Called Colonial and asked for Jesse Reynolds per coupon to schedule an appointment. Never spoke to Jessie. After 4 telephone calls to Colonial and their computer system being down, finally got an appointment for 9/17 between 11AM and 2PM so I took off from work to be available. 

    On 9/17 Colonial called me to cancel and reschedule.  When I asked why I was told it was due to the Technician having a family emergency. The appointment was rescheduled for 10/8 between 11 AM and 2PM so I took another day off from work to be available. 

    On 10/7 Colonial called me to advise the technician would be at my home between 1PM and 4PM.  On 10/8 I received another call from Colonial at 2:39PM advising the Technician had to work on a very deteriorated chimney and could come at the end of the day or I could reschedule to 10/17. I opted for "end of day".  By 6:00PM I called Colonial and was told that the Technican was enroute and would be at my house at 7PM.  I advised Colonial that I had to pick up my little girl and it would be too dark to perform the services so I asked to cancel and refund the service but I started to get the run around to reschedule. Colonial said they could do the service in the dark but I asked again to cancel because their appointment track record was very poor. Read the reviews.

    While Colonial Way Home Services Inc. was very apologetic about a situation they created, Colonial relies too heavily on overusing customers goodwill.  I paid for a service, scheduled and rescheduled appointments, changed Technican arrival times, even changed my work schedule to accomodate Colonial Way Home Services Inc. and I would not recommend them to anyone unless you want headaches. Because of the above they tried to offer me free service if I did not write my firsthand experience on Angie's to which I replied no thank you.

    Kevin (the owner) showed up on time with one very friendly helper (sorry, can't remember his name). They got straight to work and continued until an HVAC technician showed up to service the heat pump. Kevin was very gracious and accomodating, finding an opportunity to pause in the duct cleaning to allow for the HVAC tech to finish. Once they were able, it was back to work until the job was complete.  Kevin and his helper were done in less than the time alloted, leaving my home cleaner than it was before arrival and even showed me a "secret" for replacing vent covers that won't cooperate.
    I will definitely have Chadds Ford Chimney Sweeps back again, and highly recommend them to others :)
