Door Installation reviews in New Castle

They did an excellent job.  He will do the sidings for me on my bay window on June.  I was very pleased with his work.  He is very god at what he does.  He put some railing on my porch last year that is why I called him again for the door on my deck.   The door was put in nicely and he did an expert job on that.

For the craftsmanship and everything else I will give them an ?A?.  The only problem I had and I explained it to them is that he doesn?t keep much contact with his customer.  I solicited him in March for the door and then he was supposed to come back April because he ordered the door.  What happened was he did not contact me so I contacted him to ask what was going on because it has been a month since we spoke and he was supposedly started the work.  But he told me that he got sick which I understand but he could have at least called to inform me what was happening because I already gave him the partial payment.  He should have been here April 15 but it was already May when I contacted him.  But he apologized when he got here two weeks ago.  I told him that he should have at least informed me so that I can fix my schedule because I want to be home when he does the job.

He is excellent in his work and with his measurements.  He does things with efficiency and that is the reason why I called him back for the deck door.  He is very good at what he does and very proficient with his work and that is important to me.  He is very professional and very nice.

When the owner came out, I just liked the way he presented. He was not real pushy. He was very informative. He had a couple of ideas and suggestions and he was very respectful. I just liked his style and the cost wasn't the lowest, but it wasn't highest. He called, they showed up and they did my roof. They cleaned up wonderfully. They windows were the same thing. We had to work around the cold. The workers were remarkable. They were extremely nice and very personable. You felt comfortable having them in your home, putting in the windows. The follow-up by Chad or his office staff was always good. He gave me a list of references unbelievably long. Even when I called the references, people invited me to come and look at their roof. Everybody was so terribly excited about the work that he did. It all has to do with the fact that he could relate to people. He is not pushy. He gives good information and he is respectful. The pricing was midline. I am very pleased with the quality of work. There is no wind coming in around my windows, and there were before. I would use him again for anything that he was able to do.

They did the contract and were very pleasant. They didn't tell me that they don't carry the storm door that I told them I wanted. I wanted a small amount of glass, they told me today when they came out that they only have storm doors with the full glass. They sub contract the people that put in the doors. When I called the company they asked me if I had the contract, there is nothing on the contract that says glass. I spoke with them about the length of time it took to have the work done - they told me that when they make the doors it does take longer. If they made the door, I don't know why they didn't do the one that I wanted. I am not going to use them now. I have already been waiting 8 weeks.

    Precision Garage Door of Delaware
I asked Precision door to come out to give an estimate for a new garage door and opener (as mine had broken down.)  They were able to promptly schedule a Field Manager to come out to take the measurements and go over my options.  The garage door was properly priced but they wanted $550 for a basic garage door opener or $898 for one that had smart phone access.  That was almost the price of the door!  I explained to the gentleman that although I had the money for the door, the opener exceeded my budget.  I was going to have to think about if I wanted to go ahead with the purchase.  Imagine my utter shock when he suggested that I get my father to pay for it!!  Now, as a 41 year old, single, homeowner, I have experienced this attitude before- but this was so blatant that I momentarily was speechless.  I didn't know how to respond so I joked around about it.  But, it made me seriously question my decision to go with this company.
I decided that I wanted to see how much it would be if I bought the opener and had them install it- still buying the garage door through them.  They needed to ask the field manager that question and he came back with $300.  That left 2 questions in my mind: does it differ based on the field manager you deal with and was he basing this price off of having my Dad pay for it??  It left a bad taste in my mouth.  Still, I really wanted my door and I had very limited time so I couldn't get a million quotes.  I called to schedule the order/install and, after playing phone tag with the office staff a few times, the order got placed. They came to install the new door (and opener that I purchased ahead of time) on Monday, July 1st.  Brian was terrific!  He erased all doubts from my mind.  He was polite, courteous, of all...professional!  He installed both the door and opener, cleaned up, and gave me a little orientation on my new opener- which he programmed for me.  It took about 3 hours total.  I do love my new door, but I still have lingering doubts- that's why the lower score on professionalism.

    B C Construction
Todd came to our home to see exactly what needed to be done and to give us an estimate. We set a date for the job to start. The job was done the day we agreed to and Todd arrived when he say he would.
We were changing the interior doors in our upstairs from flat doors to six panel doors. The doors all required trimming to fit the openings. Todd installed the new hardware we had purchased for the doors. Todd also had to cut and install crown molding we had purchased as well as install baseboard in my son's bathroom.
The work site was cleaned up and all work was done to our satisfaction. Would definitely recommend Todd. In fact, we have already line up additional work for him.

Champion Windows and Home Exteriors of Philadelphia
The one concerning had is when I went to the Delaware location to pick up monthly supply of window cleaner. When I got there the location was closed and I got no notice. I did call the main office and they had one of their service people drop off entire case of window cleaner, enough to last me a year.

I would definitely consider them for future work.

    Steelway Cellar Doors
I liked the product but the installer was a nightmare. The owner was supposed to come down but did not. The installer made a mess of the caulk.

Update 11/15/2012: They removed the entire existing door.  They created custom plates to make sure the door was flush on the wall.  They also redid all of the caulking.  They went above and beyond to correct an issue and I am more than satisfied.  I am very impressed with their responsiveness and willingness to correct any issues with their work.

    Steelway Cellar Doors
I was given the impression that it would take only 1 day to install the egress and 2 weeks to get the vertical door installed.  The egress system was installed in one day as promised, but had many issues with the entry (vertical door.)  The door had to be ordered because the opening in my basement was not the standard size.  The installer said it would be no longer than 2 to 3 weeks to get the door in and installed. I called Steelway  after 2 weeks and the door still hadn't arrived from the manufacturer.  After three weeks they stated the manufacturer called and the door had arrived.  Unfortunately this was not true.  The door that had arrived was the wrong door.  I was unhappy with the timeframe on the door but this was not Steelways fault.  The only issue I had was with the commnication on the door delay.  I talked with Carter (one of the owners)  and he promised that the communication issues would be further looked into by his team.  My overall experience with Steelway was good.
