ATo my surprise i had a very small refrigerant leak. Dewitt technician was very professional, knowlegable and curtious and explained my options for permenant repair. I was surprised the technicain was not trying to sell me a fix, but was giving me options for repair according to my budget.- Ron J.

AIt went great. Nate is knowledgeable and did a terrific job handling some challenges. He was thorough and solved all of our problems, including replacement of some clogged/corroded components and bleeding all of our radiators. I will hire Affordable every year for our routine service, and call them if I need help with anything else.- Wayne C.

FNot well at all. I'm not hard to please, I just want what I paid for. The contractor refused to do the job saying that my driveway was bigger than the square footage I paid for and that I would need to pay $73.00 more. The service I paid for was up to 1,000 sq. ft. and my driveway is 24' x 38' and a little jog in the driveway is 4' x 11'. This is 956 sq. ft. where I learned math. He pulled his guys and refuses to do my driveway now. However, Angie's list paid him already. For a service that wasn't done yet! and now I have no recourse. He has my money and Angie's List's response is "Sorry about your luck". Pavement Management of Coatesville, PA and Angie's List - my advice is stay away from both of them. Angie's List will not support you if you have an issue. This guy could have come to my house and took a crap on my front step and I have no recourse - he's been paid already!- Mike P.

AGood communication; no complaints by tenants, work has held up and as I recall, the price was fair, it was over two years ago. Their follow-up communication is very active. I will hire them again, have already spoken to someone about a scheduling furnace winter PM in October.- Jennifer V.

AIt went very well. Everyone we dealt with was professional and personable, and took the time to explain all alternatives and be sure that all of our questions were answered. The techs showed up on time, introduced themselves, and got right to work. When they were done with the installation, they tested everything. They then put back everything they had moved, and walked us through what we need to do to keep the units functioning and how to set the thermostat. They put booties on before they walked across my carpets, and cleaned up everything before they left. And we saved money because we did both units at the same time, and will qualify for a rebate from our power provider. They also replaced some of the ductwork to match it up, and a breaker to match the new requirements, all at the previously agreed-upon price.- Joanne M.

AThey were prompt, professional and price-competitive. The technician who serviced our heater was prompt and extremely knowledgeable. He was quick to diagnose and get our heater working again. Highly recommend them for service, installs and emergencies.- Chas R B.

AIn August 2015 my AC went.
Because this happened on a weekend, I first called a leading competitor since they had Saturday on-call service. I
suspected a leak since I just replaced the old R4 refrigerant two years ago. Two years ago I asked for a leak test to be performed, however the servicing company I used explained that his leak test gear probably
would not find the leak. The recharge was also on a weekend and I think he was
just too lazy to troubleshoot. He added 5 pounds of costly refrigerant for
around $490.00 and took off. Fast forward to this year with this current
incident, I decided not to use the company I dealt with previously. Just based
on radio ads and seeing their trucks everywhere, I decided to call a very
popular HVAC company. The technician arrived and was very cordial and
professional. He recommended replacing my A- coil after finding a severe leak using
a nitrogen test I authorized. Upon further inspection, the tech found a few
quarter sized holes in my heat exchanger using a camera. He explained the holes
are leaking exhaust gasses into the home when the heat kicks in. I knew that
before winter this had to be addressed. Spending $2600.00 just to put in a heat
exchanger (the part was under warranty, however labor was high, due to a
complete overhaul of the furnace) and a new A coil brought repair costs to over
$4000. Additionally the refrigerant I was using was outdated and would no
longer be produced after 2020. So the repair would put a band aid on having to
replace the system nonetheless. It was as old as the home, built in 2001 and
generally that is the life span of a residential HVAC system anyway.
So the decision was to do a complete HVAC replacement, which my wife and I agreed,
would be a the better option than a costly repair. This competitor?s deals ranged from $12k to $18K.
That was over my budget. I paid for services rendered and shopped around for a
better price. We heard about Angie?s list and decided to look for companies based
on merit from their website.
It was easy to navigate.
After calling several companies that met an A rating with an A in price we decided on Gold Star. The owner, Shane was up front and honest with his quote and recommendations. After discussing the
package deal for HVAC replacement currently being offered, I asked about how
much a higher efficiency unit would price. Shane mentioned he had some Trane XR-95
100K BTU furnaces and XB-16 4 ton systems in stock and could offer me the
complete system installed for $7790.00. This includes a 10 year parts and labor
warranty. I opted for no interest
financing and have a year to pay. I did have to pay $300 extra for the financing,
however the price was way below the entry level units that the competition was
offering.
He sent out Tony from his sales team and we
went over the statement of work and financials. Shane even took $100 off the price
because I already had a smart Wi-Fi thermostat.
Dealing with Gold Star from start to finish
on my complete HVAC replacement was exceptional. I had a 12 year old Freedom 90
100K BTU gas furnace with a 4 ton, 10 seer unit outside. Going to Delmarva
power?s website, I already see a marked improvement in energy usage and a significant
reduction in energy costs due to replacing the system with the high efficiency
products Gold star installed. Two men arrived on time at 9am and had the entire
job completed by 4PM. They even installed a brand new return duct drop so my heating
unit draws outside air instead of drawing from the basement where my furnace is
installed. The PVC and duct work installation was neat, and spot on. The
workers removed the old units and left the basement spotless.

FThey are not the same company they used to be. They tried not once, but twice to tell my faulty issue was not under warranty. I had to get one and sometimes 2 supervisors involved to who finally realized that yes, I was correct and it was under warranty. Here's one example: Water heater installed in 2008, fails in 2013 and I have a 6 year warranty. Do the math 13-8=5. I had to have both the service technician AND the first level of phone support COUNT ON THEIR FINGERS and they still told me I had to pay. Finally got someone to admit that 13-8=5 and got water heater replaced. Did I mention that this happened twice? Second time with the heat pump motor. I think that they must get bonuses for making homeowners pay when they don't have to. I don't trust this company but had to deal with them due to the installations. I now need a new heat pump and this time I'm using Angie's list to find someone qualified AND ethical.

AOur A/C stopped working on Saturday evening. Called D&T around 8:15 pm and left message with their answering service. Received a call within 5 minutes. They were out late the next morning and our A/C was working by noon. Very professional and friendly, The tech repaired the unit and did not try to sell us a new unit like some of the larger companies do. Very pleased and will definitely call this company again.
