Deck Building reviews in Dover

  • Excellent workmanship. Deck exceeded my expectation. I was consulted on options as to whether I wanted stairs or railing on the lower deck and I decided on the later and it came out beautiful. I am very happy with the end result. I give a Good rating on responsiveness. Communication needs some work but over all everything was excellent. Will highly recommend.

  • He was very professional and knowledgeable. Some of the work that had been done by another contractor was incomplete and also improperly done. Jeff completed everything and corrected the mistakes and, although his estimate was higher than others, he left us feeling confident that the job was done properly.

  • We decided to expand our home with a addition. After searching for what seemed like forever. We decided to hire Bright Side. This company was very professional to deal with, job was done as promised with no hidden costs or surprises. We love our new addition!

  • I live in Arizona but have a home in Delaware. He started the work while I was there. He put up 2 or 3 panels while I was in Delaware and said he would leave a little room under the fence in order to weed eat without damaging the fence. He had to go out of town to Florida to visit his dad and I told him that was ok because I was leaving to go back to Arizona. He finished the work in April while I was in Arizona. He sent me pictures of the finished work so I paid him the remainder of the balance. When I went home for Christmas I saw that the fence was level at the top but was 3 to 4 feet off of the ground. He did come out and looked at the fence and said it looked fine and he would not fix it. He also said that I had seen the fence and approved of it and why had I waited 9 months to call him. I had seen pictures of the top of the fence only not the bottom. the gap is so big it will not keep my dog in the yard or anyone out. When I purchased the fence I was told I had a year warranty. This man knew I lived out of state. The neighbor even told him that it was not installed correctly and that he felt the contractor was taking advantage of me. I contacted another contractor who said they could lower fence but it would cost me much more money when I've already paid $9000 for the fence.

  • I had old rusted wrought iron handrails that were sunk into the concrete porch and stairs. Jeff cut off the rails, then sanded the area till it was flush. He then filled the holes and sealed them. He pressure washed the porch and painted it. He then dug holes beside the porch (and stairs) and put in posts with cement. Vinyl hand railings were then installed on each side of the porch and stairs. The transformation was amazing! Also my water faucet next to the porch leaks so I had to go into the basement to turn on the water for them. Jeff noticed and asked so I explained that it leaked if I left it on. He then told me there were a few vinyl spindles left over and that he would return them for credit and get a new faucet and come back and replace mine as part of this job. That is what I really like about Jeff, he goes that extra mile to make sure you are happy with his work.

  • I bought a house a year ago. The house was 'flipped' by a company. Everything in the house seemed to be in good order. Within a year the large deck behind the house started to fall apart. Everything from paint coming off in chunks to the wood curling up at the ends, to large splits in the wood... looked just awful. The deck is large... 32 ft X 16 ft. Had two other contractors come out and give us estimates to rip up the previous deck and build a new composite deck with white vinyl railing over the existing foundation of the original deck. The estimates were $18,500 and $20,000. John, from Bay 2 Bay Builders came to our house and gave us a price of about $10,000... roughly $4,000 was for the material costs. The understanding was the price could go up once they tore the deck off and inspected the deck's foundation. The foundation was ALL WRONG... previous work wasn't done correctly and several pieces of wood had to be replaced. In all we ended up being charged an additional $1,200... but $400 of deck material ended up being returned to Lowe's because we didn't need it. The entire cost of the new deck... labor at $7,200 and decking material at $3,600 was $10,800... a FAR cry from the other estimates at or near $20,000.

  • I am now going through a nightmare trying to get the $2500 deposit back from this person. Ryan has continued to make excuses and has not shown up on multiple dates to complete the work that he agreed via our contract together, I must now resort to take legal action to resolve this matter. Furthermore, I fully intend to contact the Delaware Better Business Bureau and lodge a complaint against Ryan Cooper and Dover Handyman LLC. I have more than ample documentation to support my claim. Also, because it seems that he simply refuses to contact me with nothing but excuses, I also intend to contact our local news affiliates to do a segment regarding the local citizens who are taken advantage of by local businesses. I am confident that once they are contacted, receive the documentation, and have their cameras at my home to see the condition he has left my deck in for the last 45+ days, that it will draw some serious interest. I fully intend to give him negative feedback / reviews on any and all websites so that others may avoid the service, or lack thereof, that I have received through Ryan Cooper and Dover Handyman LLC.

  • Dream View Exteriors replaced my roof siding and windows. I have since called them to do our deck as well. The experience we've had with DVE has shown us that there are still companies in the industry that care about their customers. After this job was completed I felt great they really delivered on their promises and even gave us a $50 gift card at the end to again thank us for our business. We did have an estimate for less however we couldn't have paid enough for what they've givin us. I requested references before doing work with DVE and this is common for their customers.

  • They worked hard and fast. They have a five year warranty on all work done.(Just in case anything happens to the work done, but i don't think anything will happen.) In all the work done was great and I will be sure to call Affordable Roofing for any of my outside construction needs.

  • Several contractors surveyed the project, but none would even come back with an estimate. AAP was very quick to evaluate, estimate and contract for the job. They initially gave us a 3-week estimated wait time for construction to begin, which stretched to nearly 2 months. Once they started, however, the job went very quickly and was handled very professionally. We asked them to save some of the siding they removed to do the addition so we could fix some damage to another part of the house from a fallen tree. They not only saved the siding, but actually performed the other repair of their own volition. The electrical subcontractor was also fantastic, working with AAP to ensure all of our requirements were met.
