  • Frank, the owner, contacted me right away after I put the request for stump removal. He asked detailed questions about the size of the tree stump, location, and access to it. I also asked for removal of stump/roots below ground surface for future tree replacement planting. The work was done few weeks after due to constant rain conditions. A Stump Removal Only a family owned business, and Frank and his son arrived when scheduled, stump was removed and a planting hole created below ground level as requested. Although the yard is small so the working area and maneuvering spaces are tight, they came with the right equipment and did proper planning; the work went very well with minimal disruption, all debris cleared and surrounding area cleaned.

  • We tried for months to find a company willing to grind the stump of a large elm tree in our front yard. It's a small yard, elevated and fenced, and laced with utility lines; the stump sat directly over a gas line. Multiple companies refused to do the work. Finally we found Frank, and he fully deserves his reputation for removing stumps others won't touch. He had a smaller grinder that fit through the front gate of our yard, and he was willing to determine the depth of the utility lines and to grind the stump to a safe depth. The work was done well and the price was fair. Highly recommended.

  • JL came out to give estimate in the rain on a Sunday. 2 hours after I put in a request online. Call and said they were in the area and could stop by. We thought this was impressive since it was raining. Workers came by and gave an estimate on the spot. We took the deal and they started work that Friday. They pruned back the large branches and hauled debris away

  • A 100 year old oak tree fell on our house. It was a horrendous experience, and the process of removing the tree from the room was overwhelming. Takoma Tree was incredibly helpful throughout the entire process. They were thorough, knowledgeable, professional; and the skill level was excellent. I can't recommend them enough!

  • Nelson (Antonio, Dimas, Edgas, and the crew) performed way above our expectations for a very reasonable price. Our job was tough. Two, 200 yr old, humongous (5-story tall) trees fell on our neighbor's roof and in our backyard adjacent to a national park. Their crane work is superior. Nelson's guys were able to complete the job in half (2 days instead of 4) the time than 2 other competitors quoted, for a reasonable rate. The crew was receptive and considerate, and extremely hardworking, and, as noted, exceptionally efficient in their work. Can't recommend enough.

  • They did a great job. This was a huge old oak that has been slowly dying for years, but the city arborist would not permit its removal until it was fully dead, which happened over the winter. Dyer's came quickly once permission was granted. Removal was difficult because of the location (two sets of overhead power and cable lines, nearby houses, other trees, a street etc.). They were finished in record time and charged less than other estimates. Afterward some fairly minor damage was noted to a neighbor's retaining wall and fencing, and Dyer's readily agreed to reimburse the necessary repairs. Very pleased overall!

  • Ed's Tree Service is probably the most professional set of contractors I have ever worked with. I have not had any tree work done since I moved in ten years ago. Needless to say, my backyard was completely overgrown. To make matters more difficult, the job was located at a duplex on a busy street in the middle of NE DC, with no driveway. Ed's showed up with a crew of 5 to trim back three large Elm trees in my backyard and remove all of the vines (poison ivy!) growing on them. In addition, they removed five invasive Mulberry trees, drilled the stumps, and trimmed back a fourth tree on the side of my house. They came in from both my yard as well as the neighbors on either side, in order to get branches hanging over the fence. It looks like I have a brand new yard. Unlike virtually every other contractor I have worked with, Eds secured permission from my neighbors to use their double driveway to park their trucks. They were on time, courteous, and extremely professional. I will definitely use them again in the future. Highly recommend.

  • We had several trees that needed to be removed. One tree in particular had partially fallen on a neighbor's roof, and electric wires were involved. We were anxious to have this tree removed as soon as possible. We called 3 companies, and chose SavATree. Domenic Bello, an arborist with SavATree, came within a couple of days of our call. He noted the problems, recommended what should be done, and described in detail how SavATree would handle the job. We specifically were concerned about not damaging the neighbor's roof. Within a few days, Domenic returned with his 3-person team led by Wilfredo, the foreman. Domenic made sure they knew what to do. Then Wllfredo and his team worked efficiently to remove several trees. They were respectful of our yard and the neighbor's yard and roof. They worked in a timely manner. All debris was removed. We were pleased with SavATree's work; we highly recommend them.

  • When I initially contacted Juan in April, he promptly came to provide an estimate. The price was very reasonable and I agreed to accept his proposal and set an agreed-upon date. Due to road construction in my neighborhood which would negatively impact parking, I had to delay the job and Juan agreed to the new date and said it was even better for him. Subsequently, he failed to respond to my numerous phone and text messages to confirm logistics for the job, such as parking permits, etc. By the agreed-upon date, we heard nothing from him and he never showed up to do the job. His MIA behavior is a mystery.

  • Overall Bailey's did a very good job. They removed both trees without any damage to our house and with minimal damage to the front yard (ground cover only). The trees were very close to the house and were 45' tall. They cut both down in just a half day of labor, ground the stumps, and cleaned up the site. They replanted 2 shrubs which they had to move out of harm's way. They also put back the 8 field stone path. We discovered that some stump sections still remained and they returned the next day to fix it. All workers were professional and personable. Gemma, the owner, gave us a quote for the job within a day or so of requesting it. Her competitors on Angie's list were not responsive at all.
